Guestbook comments from the owner

We are so happy we chose to stay at this beautiful house for our 10th anniversary. There are so many thoughtful touches, the views are unparalleled, and it is completely private- it was like having our own mini estate for the weekend. We had fun eating steamed clams and playing cribbage on the cute bistro table situated on the deck. It was also nice to be able to make the short drive to Occidental, which is a super cute town, for a great dinner at Bistro des Copains. Thank you so much!

Beautiful grounds---rustic accommodations

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed the grounds and gardens of this cabin. The kitchen was well equipped with the exception of not having a micro wave. We loved seeing the wildlife that roamed the grounds. The hot tub was a great place to relax after a day of sight seeing. This cabin is not ideal for 2 couples as it has only one bathroom upstairs with both bedrooms. One couple had to run up and down the stairs to have access to the second bathroom on the main floor. Also, the bed in the second bedroom not sufficient for two adults. We would also have liked having the television in the main room. We might have made a different decision if we had known about the bathrooms and television.

We very much enjoyed eating at several places in Occidental and exploring all the areas and wine country around the cabin. We would also recommend arriving at the cabin before dark as it was very difficult to locate and navigate the driveway at night.

Owner's Response: Hi Kay, I am sorry the house did not meet all of your expectations, though I am a bit surprised as there is a full bath on both the first floor as well as the second floor. Both bedrooms have full queen sized beds. I am sorry that the location of the TV did not suit your party. Our preference is to not have the TV in the living room, which we use for socializing, having fires and looking out at the view. We have found the TV room much better suited for watching movies and the like. Hope you otherwise had a wonderful trip and got to see all of the splendor of west sonoma county.

Wonderful as always

  • 5 of 5

This is the 4th year we have stayed here-family of four. Beautiful garden, and home in good order as always. It's a fantastic base for exploring the Sonoma coast and beaches, vineyards and Russian river area. Eating out is a short drive away 5 mins or so to Occidental. We ate out this time in Sebastapol which is about 20-25 mins drive, as well as cooked in the property. Also close- short drive to Wild Flour Bread bakery at Freestone for fresh bread, scones and sticky buns.

Stunning hillside vistas from a cozy home

  • 5 of 5

We had a delightful stay at this 3BR rustic retreat home overlooking the Pacific and a beautiful landscaped foreground with pretty gardens and tree plantings. The home nestles into the setting nicely and gives access to some interesting trails and terrain for photography and hiking. The living room with soaring ceilings, a gas-fired stove and working fireplace provided a great spot for family games and fun times. The only drawback for anyone who wants to spend a lot of time out and about visiting the towns and wineries of Sonoma County is that the windy road back to this location puts a premium on careful night-time driving and ideally a designated driver. That said, this is a terrific spot that we would rent again if we wanted to spend more time in Sonoma.

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The house was everything we wanted and more. Four of my friends and I rented the house for Thanksgiving, and were pleasantly surprised. The grounds were spectacularly beautiful, overlooking vineyards and the coast. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook a big meal, and the dining room off the kitchen was the perfect setting for an intimate dinner. Guest rooms had plenty of storage, and the beds were very comfortable. Everyone enjoyed sitting around the fireplace in the large living room, and taking a dip in the spacious hot tub.

Will definitely return to this house. Was as great experience!

Modern style tucked in mountain hideaway

  • 5 of 5

Everything was so thoughtful, down to the smallest detail - including crayons and construction paper for our friends' children. Impeccable furnishings. Great style - and incredibly comfortable. A jewel among the rentals we've secured through VRBO. We will definitely come back here again.

No way you could not relax

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect girls getaway. The open floor plan in the living room with the fire place was perfect for having wine and making a forced vision board making session with crayons. The bedrooms were super spacious, beds comfy and decorated real smart. The tv room was very tiny and could just fit the 3 of us. The deck outside is a lot bigger then the photos reveal. The hot tub was a big hit especially at night under the stars. The views were killer! I watched the sun set as the fog rolled in over the ocean. Occidental is a cute town. Howards Café is a must for breakfast. Do your food shopping out of town though, the markets are a little cruddy around there. It's real easy to drive to the ocean or into Napa Valley. We had a great trip the house was lovely and the owners answered all of my questions before hand right away in a friendly manner.
