Good Evening Gabrielle,
I would like to write a review for you about our stay at your new apartment which we stayed at from October 13th to October 17th. This is the property located at Borgo Vittorio 27. We had a wonderful stay and you were so helpful to us arranging for taxi services and with the WiFi We all loved the apartment and the location was perfect. You were so gracious and helpful to us. I would like to let everyone know how nice it was and what a great location it is so near the Vatican. Again, I can't thank you enough for all you did for me and my family and friends. It was such a joy to meet you and if we ever return to Rome I will definitely contact you for our rental. What a beautiful apartment and what a lovely person you are, Gabrielle. If you are ever in Los Angeles, Mary and I would love to show you around our city and treat you to a great American Dinner!! Please let me know where you would like me to write the review at your earliest convenience.
This apartment was ideal for our visit to Rome. Gabrielle arranged for our pickup from the airport to the condo. She came and met with us to explain how everything worked, including the stove, air conditioning, washer, etc. She also gave us information on the area. We found the property to be very comfortable, although the lift was not operating for the first two days of our stay. There are three flights of stairs to the apartment so be prepared if the lift is not working. We noticed that some of the walls were in need of paint, but overall, the place was clean and well maintained. The second bedroom was used by some family members for the weekend and none of us felt cramped or crowded. The rooftop garden area is beautiful and has a magnificent view of the surroundings, including the Vatican. The location is the main reason we chose this rental as the Borgo Pio area is one of our favorites. Just one block away, you will find shops, great restaurants and cafes, and gelato. The Vatican is footsteps away and everything else in Rome is easily reached either on foot or by metro. Gabrielle is always accessible by phone and ready to assist in anyway. If you need a 2 bedroom apartment in this area, this would be a good choice.
This apartment is literally a stones throw from the Vatican. All other tourist locations are generally within easy walking distance. It is in a quieter part of the city however there are plenty of Restuarants in the area offering quality Italian food at non tourist prices. The apartment offers a very spacious double bedroom with plenty of wardrobe space. There is also an additional double bedroom which is smaller but adequate with wardrobe space. A living area inclusive of dining area, living area and kitchen. The apartment was very clean and situated in a residential block housing local people. The cherry on top of the cake was the roof top terrace overlooking the city but more importantly offers views of the Vatican.
We would definitely recommend this to friends and family. When we return we hope to stay here again.
Our Host Gabrielle was excellent. All questions answered, very attentive to any enquiries and offered good advice about where to go. She also helped with airport transfers which made them exceptionally easy and took the hassle out of them.
We stayed here from October 2- 5, 2016
We arrived early at the unit (which had previously been ok'd by our contact person) to find the apartment had not been cleaned yet, and that the previous couple who had stayed - accidently took one set of keys with them - which they would return later. Our contact at the apartment was great - very friendly, and very helpful. We were allowed to leave our luggage and go out exploring while the apartment was cleaned. I was not entirely comfortable with leaving my belongings, knowing someone else had keys to the apartment - but it was what it was....
We went our exploring and came back to settle in for the evening. A few things we noted - we cleaned the bathroom ourselves as the shower stall had all kinds of dirt and mildew in the bottom of it (very gross), we also cleaned the cupboards where the laundry unit was as it had all kinds of mess, drips, and dirt (as did the washer). The cupboards that held the dishes had all kinds of dirt and crumbs in it (didn't look like it had been cleaned in awhile). The bed sheets for one of the beds kept slipping off (they didn't fit the bed), the towels were very threadbare and should be replaced. We were also asked to take out our own garbage when we left - which we did - but couldn't find a garbage disposal unit to put it in and ended up putting it in a disposal at a local park (this should be taken care of by the cleaner not the renter).
Overall the apartment was a good size, great location close to lots of restaurants, and close to all the sights of Rome. We did enjoy our stay but we were really disappointed with the lack of cleanliness in the apartment.
The property was in a great location on a quiet street. Near to all the sites and amenities.
The host of the property was lovely. She was very responsive, very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for her.
We loved staying and would stay again.
Love our stay at this property! We received a warm welcome when we arrived and she was great about answering any questions we had. Location was perfect - close to the Vatican and St. Peter's, and the walk to the metro station wasn't too terribly far (less than a 10 minute walk). Tons of restaurants and shopping nearby, and we loved being able to leave our apartment, head to dinner, and go for a nice walk at night seeing St. Peter's all lit up. WiFi connection was good as well, and a/c was a definite bonus. Would stay here again!
The property was great and the location was perfect. Literally a couple of blocks from the Vatican and we walked to all of the major attractions in Rome (Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, the Colosseum and Roman Forum). You can also catch a cab pretty easily just a couple of blocks away near St Peters. The next block over from the apartment is loaded with restaurants, bars and mini markets which is very convenient.
Gabrielle was great to work with and set up our transfers from the airport to the apartment and from the apartment to the train station when it was time to leave. The apartment was spacious and clean, the air conditioning worked (unlike our hotel room in Florence) and the WiFi and kitchen came in very handy during our stay. There is also a patio on the roof that is nice for a late night glass of wine with a great view of St Peter's Basilica and Castel Saint Angelo.
The only thing I would say is know you have to climb a few steps to get to the apartment. It is on the second floor but it is three flights of stairs to get there.
Borgo is the 14th historic district of Rome. It lies on the West Bank of the Tiber. The Borgo is bordered by Vatican City (S. Peter's Square) to the West, the Tiber to the East, Prati to the North and trastevere to the South. The Main Roads are not named Vie but Borghi. Although heavily transformed during the first half of the 20th century, Borgo maintains it's historical importance as a forecourt to S. Peter's Basilika and the Vatican Palace.
