Why Julie Schulz chose Florida

This unspoiled area of the Gulf coast has been unchanged for many years. Small towns along Highway 98 reflect the relaxed atmosphere of the south. Charter a fishing boat, eat the freshest oysters you ever had, and explore unique shops in Apalachicola.

What makes this house unique

You can really get away from the rat race here. It area has been left 'natural' and is home to many birds, deer, even the occasional black bear or the little gator that lives in the pond across the road. Even in the warmest weather, the screened porch is comfortable for dining. And the beach is nearly private, and has gentle waves and the beautiful soft white sand that this area is famous for.

Very quiet beach vacation

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a very quiet beach vacation this is the place. This house was very comfortable and clean. It is roomy and with the bedrooms on different floors very private. Everything you will need is provided and in good condition. The area is very well kept and there is no one around on the beach in the pool or around the development. The beach is clean and the water very shallow nice white sand easy to walk or just sit and relax. There are several good restaurants in the area Angelos and Sons was excellent for fresh seafood and not a la carte anymore. Overall a nice place to visit.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the great review of the house. I'm sure it will help other guests know what to expect. Also, good to know that Angelo's is not a la carte any longer. It's close to the house and has great views. We'd love to have you back any time, so just give us a call!

Best vacation rental experience we've had!

  • 5 of 5

It was beautiful! If you like to be away from the crowd this is the place for you. We were a 3 generation group and we ALL loved it! The house is large enough the 6 of us had more than enough room. We went to the beach daily, sharing it with a couple fishermen and many ocean creatures...crabs, starfish, manta rays. It's a very calm shallow area, which was great for our 3 year olds. It was amazing. The pool was also very nice, very well taken care of and never crowded. We can't wait to go back!

Owner's Response: Thank you Jill for providing a great picture of what this area is all about. It's also great to know that 3 generations all came together and enjoyed it. We'd love to have your family back again any time you can get away for a relaxing vacation.

Solitude is Bliss

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was very peaceful to say the least which was exactly what we were looking for. The 'community' is very large and there are only five or so other homes, none of which were within site. The beach was easily accessible and a short walk of 5 - 7 minutes. We saw no other people at the beach during our weeklong stay in mid-June. No waves, several skittish stingrays who quickly swam the other way, and zero litter. The Clubhouse pool was 2 miles down the road. Very large, no people (most days we were the only family in the pool and on the deck). Short 100 yard walk over decking to another beach and the Kayak Shack and a fishing pier. The Home itself was very clean, plenty of bath and beach towels, working dishwasher, washer, dryer etc. and well stocked with paper products, soaps, etc., an icemaker that actually works, etc. Décor - think Pottery Barn. Screened deck a nice option. 2nd deck was popular with kids due to huge hammock. Wireless internet and cable TV, including many premium movie channels, worked flawlessly. Bikes and other beach equipment in locked closets were easily accessible and in good condition. Though our teenagers would have liked a few more people on the beach or at the pool, they quickly adapted, and for us adults - a pleasure to get away from cars, people in a hurry, and the daily routine. The black bear sighted crossing the road was another treat.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your great review and we are so pleased that you enjoyed all of the amenities of the house, and the beach etc. We make every effort to make sure our guests are comfortable and have what they need during their stay. I'm so envious you saw a black bear! In my many trips to the house and the area, I've only seen a bear twice; once crossing Hwy 98 and once running into the woods near the entrance to SummerCamp. We hope you'll come back soon and maybe you'll spot a deer!

Spacious and exceedingly comfortable

  • 5 of 5

I had a great stay with friends at this house for wedding weekend. We all really appreciated how spacious it was. It had everything that we needed for our stay. This rental was far nicer than other ones our other friends had rented in the area. Property manager was very responsive to all any and all needs.

We hope you had some time in your busy schedule to enjoy the beach and some of the surrounding areas. If not, or it you would just like to spend some more time in this great area, we would love to have you back, and tell your friends about your visit!

Nice relaxing location

  • 5 of 5

The house worked great for our family of 5. The house is nicely decorated. The owner supplied a lot of the kitchen supplies - garbage bags, dish washing detergent, hand soap etc. The house was clean and the owner was very responsive to any questions before our visit. We enjoyed the area restaurants like Mad Anthony's in Panacea. We spent one day at Wakulla Springs State Park and the St. Marks Light house/ National Wildlife Refuge. Very enjoyable!

Quiet, peaceful, and secluded

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at this home prior in 2014. Enjoyed it so much we decided to spend our 25th wedding anniversary this year (2015) there again with our two college age boys in tow. We very much enjoyed the provided bikes (needed some lubrication) and the beautiful boardwalk. The beach, although enjoyable, wasn't very clean. Evidently, local "kids" use this remote beach for weekend drinking parties leaving lots of empty/broken vodka & beer bottles, snack litter, lighters, etc. This development would greatly benefit from being gated. Although the Gulf was warm enough in Nov,, we didn't swim since we saw many stingrays and it's very shallow for hundreds of yards. We arrived at the usual 3pm check-in time, but the cleaning maid was just finishing up, so we hung out at the beach for a while. The house needs to have the carpets cleaned since there are lots of stains. Keep in mind, we are somewhat "clean-freaks", but my wife swept the entire living room wood floor area collecting a dustpan full of pet hair = yuck. We also had to sweep the back porch and lower parking area which were full of debris. Easy fix had a blower been provided. For some reason, guests and/or the owners like to collect and display smelly dried-up marine life on the outdoor tables? Though it looks "beachy" we removed these smelly table settings out of nose range. Otherwise, a fantastic, largely unknown part of original Florida to be treasured.
