This location is located within reach of so many activities. Being on Big Platte Lake gives one the option of boating, skiing, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, tubing. As you search the area, you won't find another property that has this much land with 120' of water frontage that provides so many activities for your whole family. With the 10 kayaks, paddle boat, pontoon rental, volleyball court and the vast amount of property, there is enough room for everyone to have fun with their activities and games without ever feeling like you're stepping on each other's feet.
We have a 120' of lake frontage. The property has a double lot which has a professional volleyball net for your use. We provide you with 10 kayaks for your use. We also provide ample firewood for you. There is a pontoon boat for an additional charge but it is priced well below anyone else.
This was our first time at the lodge. Our entire family went, 3 generations, for a total of 16 people. Plus, we had 4 more people come for a couple of days and we had plenty of room for all of us to sleep comfortably! It was also nice to have seperate areas for people. The property was perfect for us. Plenty of yard space for kick ball and wiffle ball games. Used Jeff's boat to do some fishing on the lake which worked out perfectly. Jeff was a perfect host and very helpful. It's a beautiful location with lots to do in the area. The kids range in age from 2-12 and they all had so much fun they asked if we could go back next year! Yes, we would definetly go back!!!
My husband & I spent our summers as kids "Up North" and we wanted to begin that tradition with our daughter as well. There is something magical about the Northwest corner of the state. We spent the week just after the 4th of July weekend at the Platte Lake Lodge & Jeff was a fantastic host.
The Cabin & Amenities:
Jeff has done a fantastic job with the property and developed three separate living structures. We referred to them as the main house , the loft and the guest house. Our daughter had a blast sleeping in each of them!
The main house is nicely decorated and appointed and has amazing views of the lake from the "Florida Room" and each of the bedrooms. The kitchen and bathrooms have recently been remodeled and are very nice. We made good use of the Circulon pots and pans! ( Nice touch Jeff!).
The loft is nicely decorated and sits above the huge three car garage. It can easily .. and very comfortably sleep 6 people. It also has a huge TV with cable which our daughter loved. I think she actually slept on a different bed each night.
What we referred to as the "guest house" looked like it may have been the original garage and has been beautifully renovated into what may be the nicest sleeping quarters on the property. Plenty of windows, great airflow, great wood flooring and nicely decorated. It greatly exceeded our expectations. And yup ... our daughter slept here too!
The Outdoor Space:
My mother came up to Platte Lake Lodge for a couple days as well and we made great use of the pristine outdoor space. Frome the stone fire pit to the outdoor furniture , volleyball court, beach area and dock, this was where we spent most of our time. In the evenings it was sunsets & wine over a roaring fire and of course s'mores & hobo pies. I think we were outside around the campfire every night till well past midnight. It was magical.
Before moving out of Michigan 15 years ago, I spent a lot of time in this area of Michigan. I have been on Crystal & Glen lakes, but never Big Platte Lake ... I was missing out. The lake is perfectly sized and has a variety of habitats. There is a nature preserve on the Southeast side of the lake where the water is calm, clear and maybe 4-5 feet deep . It was a perfect place to go birding, turtle catching and just generally take in nature.
I'd write more but VRBO won't let me lol! Bottom line .. we would absolutely recommend!
This beautiful lakeside setting is spacious, relaxing and fun-filled. The convenient location to golf, great lakes (Great Lakes!) and natural beauty is tremendous. We played lots of golf at spectacular courses - best in the state - within 30 minutes of the lodge.
Please reserve me a month next time!
Wonderful time up north with friends. Clean and comfortable accommodations on Big Platte Lake. Played golf at Arcardia Bluffs and other courses in the area. I will be back next year.
My wife and I visited the Platte Lake Lodge this Labor day, with our twin infant boys and small dog.
The owner was very accomodating, and made our stay very pleasant. The cottage was clean, and would be a great esacape for families as there are so many different activities to take in.
We bbq'd a few times, and headed into town which was very close by (you have a few choices in either direction). We made time, taking turns, to use the owners Kayak's and ventured out into the lake. The cottage has a firm sandy bottom, and the water was crystal clear.
Thanks Jeff for a great visit, and we will be back in touch when the boys get older.
we have a family group of 18 that stayed in Platte Lake lodge and it was wonderful. Property was in great shape and it supported all of our activities including French Darts and Bocce Ball. The firepits were great at night. we brought with us a speed boat, pontoon boat and 2 wave runners that were kept right at water's edge. great sunsets and millions of stars at night. We had a great time, probably the best in 30 years of coming to Platte Lake.
The Platte Lake Lodge is available year round. Whether you’re looking to host your family reunion, business retreat or a couple of groups getting to together to take in the up north activities. We are located close to many activities for the whole family. The Cherry Bowl Drive-In is just 1.5 miles away. Kayaking or tubing from Big Platte Lake Through the Platte River is great fun. If you want to bike, the Betsie Valley Trail is close by with its 22 miles scenic trails. All of it is excellent for bicycles and pedestrians. There are numerous places where you can charter fishing boats or if you'd like, just to take a sunset cruise. We are only 16 miles away from Interlochen where you'll find concerts throughout the spring and summer. We are surrounded by many golf courses that you'll find the views breathtaking. Skiing in the winter is only 19 miles away. Take a tour of the all the lighthouses in the near vicinity and finish off the day at one of the wineries.
