This is a tremendous property in one of the most interesting neighborhoods in Washington - go to the history page. http://www.nps.gov/nr/travel/wash/dc45.htm - there is a great overview of the neighborhood - Originally one of the capitol's earliest country retreats (Lincoln's cabin was a mile down Columbia road) it became the Park Avenue of the city in the 20's when the cable cars began transporting the well to do out to their homes in Chevy Chase. Biltmore street was known as General's alley until the second world war when many of the general's and Admiral's assigned to the Pentagon lived on this leafy street.
The property is within walking distance or a short bus ride to just about anything you would want to see or do in the nation's Capitol.
This property is a peaceful oasis smack in the middle of the city. You can walk to anything you need with 80 restaurants/coffee shops/bars feet away, 3 supermarkets 1 organic market - half a block 2 - 2 blocks 3 - 5 blocks, a drug store 1 block, kinko's/fedex around corner, 4 dry cleaners around corner, metro - 3 blocks away and bus stops across the street on the bus route to the American Institute for Radiologic Pathology (AIRP) course location
We stayed in the penthouse apt on the top floor for 7 nights. The apt was clean and the owners were very accommodating. They took the time to meet us and gave us a tour of the apt and showed us how everything worked. They told us the location of nearby restaurant options and transportation services. The apt was located in a nice neighborhood. The metro was a bit of a walk but we used Uber several times and found it very convenient.
The garden apartment was just the right size for our group of five. The furnishings and features suited us perfectly...well appointed kitchen, comfortable beds and bedding, and nice living room with a comfy couch.
The location was another great feature. We walked to restaurants in the neighborhood. And the owners were very gracious in accommodating our arrival and checking in later to make certain that everything was in order. The home is beautiful and the owners clearly know how to treat guests to make them feel welcome.
When we return to Washington, we will be glad to call this lovely garden apartment our home away from home.
Our family of 5 stayed in the Garden apartment for 8 days. it was so lovely. Everything is decorated beautifully! Things we loved: the convertible coach was very comfortable, not something you always find in a convertible! The shower and toilet were separate so it made it easier for the 5 of us (3 daughters!) to share the facilities. Starbucks is right at the next corner. There are lots of restaurants, CVS, 7-11 and Safeway close by. The living room has more furniture than the pictures showed. It was very clean and well maintained. The owner was very responsive. I would recommend this property to my best friend, closest relative or anyone else that is traveling to DC!
FYI: The Metro stop was a bit far, about a mile. we tried to drive to it once but our parking pass wasn't valid in that neighborhood, at least we couldn't find an area where it would be valid. The owner thought that it would, so maybe ask about that. There might be a way to take a bus to the metro stop?

Wonderful lodging, wonderful location, wonderful hosts. Linda and John have turned a beautiful historic home into a majestic, relaxing and EXTREMELY CENTRALLY LOCATED OASIS OF PEACE in the middle of one of the most happening neighborhoods of DC (Adams Morgan). Within steps of the beautifully landscaped garden, foods from Asia, Europe, Africa, South/Central America, the Middle East, and even New Orleans tempt you to avoid cooking and to take a culinary trip around the world. For your finicky eaters, and kids, McDonalds, Subway, Burger King etc, and local haunts like "the Diner" (great diner food at diner prices - really, you should go) provide the staples they need, to allow you to enjoy the culinary delights. Two grocery stores, Starbucks, a Saturday Farmers Market, running store etc are literally around the corner. Public transportation stops within 20 yrds of the front gate (on the main road around the corner, so you are never disturbed on the side road where this home is located), and provides quick, air-conditioned transportation to the Red, Orange, and Blue Metro Lines - you can get all over DC without a car, and without a sweat!!! Seriously, YOU DON'T NEED A CAR! EVER. For the fitness buffs, Rock Creek Park and it's myriad running trails, is less than a mile away, and you are "out of the city" into nature - go early in the morning and you'll scare the deer on the trail. Linda and John are kind, gracious hosts, full of information and good cheer, and make you feel welcome during your entire stay. The Garden Suite is well furnished, comfortable, relaxing, and easily housed our family of 6. I would not, and will not, hesitate to book here again in the future when my travels take me DC. Why stay in a hotel ("which hotel in which country am I now?") when you could stay at Maison Biltmore and be in the city but feel like you are in the country. Highly, highly recommended! Marine family of 6 stayed for 30+ days.
We will be staying here again. The owners are on site and very knowledgeable and helpful! Our vacation was for a week and included my spouse, mom and our 12 year old. This location was great for taking public transportation very well located. In addition the neighborhood itself is great for dining and experiencing not just visiting Washington. I had to travel to National Harbor each day to get to a conference and it was very easy from this location. I enjoyed staying here much more than I would have at the Gaylord. You really get to be a part of Washington in this neighborhood. Rich with culture and atmosphere. I didn't expect there to be much provided at all in the bathroom and kitchen but I was very pleasantly surprised. You will feel at home in this apartment. In addition the garden is a beautiful sight to come home to each day.
The location is great, the home is warm, comfortable, welcoming and up to date. It was a relaxing stay with beautiful gardens and common areas outside. It was easily walkable to METRO and many restruants and shopping opportunities just blocks away. I will definately stay again.

Perfect for American Institute for Radiologic Pathology (AIRP) course students - The property is on the bus route that goes directly to the course buildings ( approximately 15 minutes).
A little neighborhood history: This area historically was part of the 19th century estate 'Kalorama' and enjoyed a reputation for its natural ambience. It was not until the turn of the century that urban development extended the city of Washington into and beyond the borders of this area. The land that now comprises Kalorama Triangle was subdivided in the early 1880s. It was the redelineation of Connecticut Avenue (1897-1907) in conjunction with construction of bridges and the introduction of two major streetcar lines that formed Kalorama Triangle and established its urban character.
Kalorama Triangle, due to the contracted period of time during which it was developed, as well the awareness of architectural styles, is a particularly important illustration of the aesthetics of middle-class speculative housing during the early years of the 20th century. The neighborhood is composed both of examples of high style architecture and modest builder-designed dwellings, but it is primarily a showcase for the stylistic variations of popular trends. Three important styles are abundant in Kalorama Triangle: English Arts and Crafts, Georgian Revival and Mediterranean (including both Italian and Spanish derivatives).
The first house constructed on the newly subdivided land was the Fuller House NR in 1893 at 2317 Ashmead Place. This house, designed by its owner, Thomas Fuller, is an early and important representation of the influence of the English Arts and Crafts Movement on residential architecture in the United States.
In 1898, Walter Peter introduced the Georgian Revival style into the district with his design for the residence at 1842 Mintwood Place. This style met with great popularity as a mode for rowhouse design. An example of the Colonial Revival style is 1901 Biltmore Street. It was built in 1901 by Alex Miller to the design of Speiden and Speiden. Several dwellings, 1848 and 1923 Biltmore Street, for example, illustrate a mixture of both Mediterranean and Georgian Revival styles. A.R.Taylor built 1923 Biltmore Street in 1907 and Arthur B. Heaton designed 1848 Biltmore Street in 1909.
1850 and 1852 Biltmore Street provide the most handsome examples of the Mediterranean influence in the Kalorama Triangle. They were designed and built by W. Granville Guss for himself in 1911. The popularity of the Spanish Revival style rose in the 1920s. The firm of Sonneman and Justement designed a row of houses on Ashmead Place that were built in 1921.
