Nice quiet stay on the North Shore

  • 4 of 5

The listing was exactly as described. While it may not be a fancy hotel in Waikiki, it was clean, roomy, and had all the amenities we needed for a 5 night stay on the North Shore. The owner was helpful during our stay, and I would definitely recommend the property to friends and family. We loved that the beach was just a short walk away and we could hear the surf all night long (that helped us sleep).

The only thing that was slightly less than perfect was the location. It seemed to be in an fairly decent area but one night we were followed by another vehicle back to near the property. We had to turn around and pretend to be lost until the vehicle stopped following us (a little scary). The other issue was that there were warnings posted about car break-ins in and near the property, but I imagine with the transient nature of many on the North Shore this happens in many places. One recommendation I have for the owner is to fix the patio door when you get a chance. The glass door was extremely difficult to maneuver and the screen was constantly coming off of the tracks. It slightly took away from the beautiful experience of sitting out on the patio and drinking coffee, then having to spend 5 minutes fixing the doors. Overall, a great little vacation spot! Thank you for sharing with us!

Great location- Our favorite place in Oahu!

  • 4 of 5

We loved this vacation rental, and spectacular location in Waialua. The beach is especially private, we saw tonnes of turtles, whales, and some great snorkeling on Mokuleia beach, even right in front of the Aweoweo Beach Park..There is a large reef break 500 yards out, so it's always safe to swim in, especially with kids.

The birds were great to wake up to, and we loved to walk along Crozier road- a single lane, which you can then hook back to the beach, then walk back to the condo.

The description of the suite is accurate, with well equipped kitchen. The bed in the master bedroom was OK, a new box spring would help ( we put the bed on the floor). The futon bed in the living room was great for our kids. The bathroom was OK, appreciated the washer/dryer.

Karen quickly responded to email, and we would definitely recommend this to friends as a reasonable priced vacation rental in wonderful area of Oahu.

We traveled Oahu without a car, and the bus stops directly in front of the condo. We came from Honolulu, then easily went back and forth to Haliewa.

Close to Haliewa for shopping, but far enough away from all the tourists to give you a more authentic Hawaiian vacation and experience.

We also met some very friendly locals, who gave us some great turtle seeing suggestions, hikes, advice about surfing lessons.

- Buttons Surf School

- Jerry's Pizza in Waialua is the BEST pizza on Oahu

- The best turtle spot is to look for the house with the red roof, ( to the right of the beach park), then go about 30 ft out- there is a 'cleaning' rock where the fish hide in, the turtles then go there and have the fish clean them..we saw turtles there every time...

All in a all a very positive experience. :-)

A whole new experience!

  • 5 of 5

I just have to say that my decision to take my wife and two children to Hawaii was a big deal for me. We don't get away a whole lot. That being said we had a lot of preconceived notions regarding just about everything, and having never been to Hawaii and knowing little or nothing about this little town called waialua on the north shore, we were in for some suprises. That being said, if you are not intimately familiar with this area save yourself some time and hassle when you get here. Put your flip flops on, grab your snorkel gear and stroll down to the beach park that's like a half a block away. There you will find mostly locals in a family oriented atmosphere. Everybody is super friendly however respect is important! The reef at this beach protects the swimming area even when the surf is big unlike other north shore spots. If you snorkel out you will find yourself swimming with green sea turtles who also comprise the local population. When the surf is small you will find good surfing as there are two channels to access the outer reef. Just keep in mind you get what you pay for. These are not luxury accommodations. Real estate is astronomical in Hawaii. When you take in to account the cost, the view and the location of this rental property you can't beat it. My whole family had a lovely time. Just don't forget the sunblock! Aloha.

Wonderful Place, Wonderful Renter!

  • 5 of 5

WOW! We (my husband and I) had such a wonderful time in HI - and a huge part of it was this perfect condo. We arrived late so we didn't get a chance to look around much outside but inside everything is as pictured! We thoroughly enjoyed our first sunrise on the deck over looking those cute, colorful, little homes and the ocean! You really can see it from your deck... and, much to our surprise when we opened the door out to the parking lot, we had an incredible view of the highest point in Oahu!

Most of our time was spent outside snorkeling, hiking, and exploring but, we did experience the hurricane during our stay and it was so nice to have a great place to bunker down in. The kitchen was excellent - we did most of our cooking at the condo apart from some breakfasts out at the Coffee Gallery (which we highly recommend). The bed was very comfortable, the sea breeze was lovely, and an added bonus for us was that if you use the elevator key you can access the open area on the roof to watch the sunset - don't miss out, it is incredible!

Everything was sufficiently clean, and we really did not struggle with bugs as I hear some do in HI. Be careful with your food and you should not have any issues apart from the stray sugar ant (they really can't be avoided in HI).

The local shops in Haleiwa and the Old Sugar Mill were a lot of fun to explore as well as the farmer's markets (there is one at the Sugar Mill on Saturdays and one in Waimea on Thursdays). We also enjoyed swimming at Aweoweo beach which is in walking distance! The location was perfect in our opinion as we wanted to be away from the busyness of the cities and just relax.

While out of the busyness of cities we were still only an hour drive from almost anywhere on the island. We highly recommend driving the east coast, hiking Koko Head, Diamond Head, Manoa Falls, and snorkeling at Haunama Bay, Three tables (if the waves are not bad), and Sharks Cove. Also, the Pearl Harbor memorials were just incredible to see.

On top of this wonderful property, I have nothing but praise for Karen! She is excellent to work with. We had some plane/weather troubles that caused a lot of interruptions with our original reservation and she was so willing to help and work with us, despite our plans being up in the air for a while. We had to call her multiple times and she was always courteous and helpful - thank you Karen! We highly recommend this property to anyone!

Great North Shore Location!

  • 5 of 5

This condo is in a great location on the north shore! Steps away from the sandy beach, which felt private as we only ever saw just a few other people there. It's a short drive to many north shore attractions like Hale'iwa, Matsumoto's, Sunset Beach, the Dole Pineapple Plantation, and one of my favorite places in Oahu, Waiamea Valley. The Polynesian Cultural Center is about a 35 minute drive away, and others have said, it's an easy drive to Honolulu and Waikiki as well.

The photos of the condo are accurate. It could easily fit 4 people. The condo is well stocked with dishes, towels (including beach towels), and even boogie boards and coolers to take to the beach. Great view from the balcony, or you can enjoy the view and listen to the waves of the ocean from inside the condo as well! There's also a nice view of the mountains outside the front door. The other residents in the building and the neighborhood are super friendly.

Karen was great to work with and quick to answer all of my questions! This is a great condo in an amazing location for an excellent price!
