Golden House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

BACK UP on VRBO after a winter remodeling effort. Prime WEEKS AVAILABLE. The Maas Family's original historic house built with the experimental glazed ceramic brick back in 1912. It was billed as the unbreakable brick and this house is proof. Today, only 2 structures still exist with this brick; the Quaintance Block building at 805 13th Street, and the tunnels at Union Station in Denver, and this house - Wow! The house (renovated in 2011) is conveniently located in a unique block in downtown historic Golden, where a 3-minute walk along the Clear Creek nature trail will take you to galleries, coffee shops and boutiques. Golden was the first capitol of the Colorado Territory, founded in 1859. Easy access to the famous Red Rocks Amphitheater, world-class ski areas, Casinos in Black Hawk, Denver and Boulder, makes Golden an ideal location for travelers.

The house is comfortably furnished with all new furniture plus historic decor. Sleeping accommodations include two queen beds, two twin-size beds. Views include rim rocks of North Table Mountain, Historic Castle Rock of South Table Mountain, Lookout Mountain and overlooks the Coors Brewery. Natural-style landscaping create a restful, mountain-cabin atmosphere with easy access to all the modern and historical attractions of the former Gold Rush-era town center.

Spend a few days, a week, or more as you discover Golden, Colorado, 'Where the West Lives' Nestled at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Golden has something for everyone- nature walks, museums, shopping, skiing, mountain biking, kayaking, fly fishing, riverboarding, amusement park, farmers market, outdoor concerts, art festivals and more! Tours are available at the Coors Brewery as well as at numerous historic sites dating from pioneer days.

If location is all that counts....

  • 3 of 5

The downtown Golden location and short walk to town could not have been more charming. Our family of five adults in town for a wedding also enjoyed the front porch and the lovely historical details in the house.

Unfortunately, our very first impression upon entering the house stayed with us throughout the weekend. The back porch and entry into kitchen smelled of cat urine and the porch itself was very unkept, even dirty - very unwelcoming. Since no pets were allowed, I was surprised to see a sign in the kitchen to keep the door shut for the dogs. The living room sectional was so stained I immediately covered it with extra blankets so we could comfortably sit there. There also seemed to be a bee problem, as several dead bees were found in the kitchen and worse, two more in our bed!

In short, we really appreciated the location and the ample towels, blankets, kitchen supplies, etc. Unfortunately, I can't recommend as our allergies were in overdrive during the entire stay.

Owner's Response: This is unfair. We've been sharing this house for 5 years and have never allowed pets except on the rarest of occasions and require them to be contained. We left the sign up in case someone sneaks one in. The couch was stained by your prior guests, yes. It has now been steam cleaned. Unfortunate timing. The back porch does need sprucing up, but the smell is not cat urine, it is probably the recycle bin. Everyone's allergies are acting up in September in Colorado due to pollen counts. Bees are everywhere now that the grape vines are in full harvest mode. They'll be gone soon.

Awesome location😊

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed several times at the Historic Glazed Brick House and The Brewmaster Jr. If you are coming to Golden Colorado, you need to stay here. It's location is perfect, the houses are clean and equipped with the necessities. Love the calm and coziness of a home away from home feeling, and the owners are the best at making your stay the best it can be. Stay here once and I bet you will come back again ! We know we definitely will 😊

Sweet house, great location!

  • 4 of 5

Our family stayed at John & Amy's house while on college visits to School of Mines and CU Boulder. We also took in a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater and fished on Clear Creek. The location was PERFECT for everything! Easy walk into downtown Golden, but quiet neighborhood, as well. John recommended several restaurants in Golden; the three we tried were wonderful. Bungalow was spacious and well appointed, including a crib. (I remember this was rare treat when traveling with babies.) Thanks, John & Amy, for your great communication and for sharing your home.

Great location, easy drive to Red Rocks and Mountains for hiking!

  • 4 of 5

Amy and John were very easy to work with. The house was clean and well stocked. It was an easy walk to downtown Golden. We didn't utilize the yard area at all. The house is older but well maintained. Be prepared to have a small bathroom. It worked fine for us, we showered then finished getting ready in our room. There is plenty of space. We fit a family of 5 (two adults and 3 teens) easily. When we travel back to CO we will definitely rent again. Thanks!

Great time at the perfect Golden location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a reunion of sorts between friends for a wedding in the area. The Historic Glazed house was perfect for six people. The location is close to the park and town but is secluded enough to make is easy to get away from the action and enjoy. The house itself is well taken care of and made our stay very comfortable. We made a contest out of guessing how many doors there were. We had a wonderful time and will definitely consider this place again when we come back to Golden!
