About Letty J. Lalu

Owners: Jerry and Letty Lalu.

We purchased this home in 2006 while living in Fredericksburg, VA with the hope of one day retiring to this area. We fell in love with all that this area has to offer while making multiple visits to our daughter when she was a student at JMU. We both hail from Ohio (Go Buckeyes!) and have lots of family still there. We immediately opened the home up to family and friends as a retreat or vacation spot. Over the years, we've had hundreds of visitors who all seem to love the area and this home as much as we do. We recently relocated to NC and its a little more difficult for us to spend as much time as we'd like here so decided it was time to allow others to enjoy it.

We still spend as much time as we can here and really enjoy the fall when we try to pack the house each JMU home game weekend with alumni, friends and family to root on the Duke Dogs!

Letty J. Lalu purchased this house in 2006

Why Letty J. Lalu chose McGaheysville

While there are many activities available at the resort, there are just as many activities available for a multitude of interests within just minutes of your front door including wonderful antiquing, shopping, wineries, civil war history, college athletics, flea markets, caverns, hiking, museums or driving beautiful Skyline Drive. Take the time to experience life 'in the valley' and you'll find yourself planning your next visit before you've ever left.

What makes this house unique

Over the years with the help of family and friends, we've renovated nearly every room and attempted to furnish it with pieces that make it feel cozy and comfortable. We love the open concept that encourages family time and easy conversations. The spacious kitchen and open island make food prep (even for a large group) easy and a group effort. With lots of windows and a peaceful back deck, you can experience the sites and sounds of nature from either inside with the pellet stove warming you or outside watching deer and listening to the birds sing.

We purposely have stayed away from making our home feel 'hotel' like and feel confident that it's the right choice for families and friends looking for a clean, comfortable vacation spot that encourages conversations, good times and provides long lasting memories.

It is our sincere hope that you'll love our home as much as we do and we want to do all we can to make your stay a great one.

Letty was great. She was available as soon as we needed her. I texted her about something and she responded right away. It was also a great location and very close to the ski slopes. Thanks Lett!

Perkasie, Pa

Needed quiet setting close to Harrisonburg and National Park!

  • 5 of 5

The nicest and cleanest home we've encountered in our 10 years of renting homes on VRBO! Beautiful, 4 bedroom (all great sizes), and CLEAN home, well stocked for all our needs! The washer, dryer, dishwasher, coffee maker, microwave etc. were all up to date and worked well!!. Beds were very comfortable. Both full baths were well stocked with towels, hand soap, and paper towels. Bedrooms were well stocked with pillows, blankets, closet space and hangers. We made coffee and sat on the deck as we enjoyed the sounds and experience of the woods behind the home. We grilled dinner on the lovely deck with the grill provided. Loved this location as we traveled to the quaint and historic town of Staunton for a day (go on a Saturday for the farmer's market!); Hiked in the Shenandoah National Forest one day; and another day simply drove through the National Forest enjoying the scenic overlooks. We also toured a local Lavender Farm and Winery! We enjoyed the zip line, miniature golf and pool in the Massanutten Resort. The 22 year olds with us, loved having dinner at Base Camp, a restaurant in the resort with live music on the deck. We enjoyed dinner as well in Harrisonburg. The Wifi worked well to relax and stream movies in the home as well! Letty and Jerry, the owners, were responsive and helpful! We loved this location as we wanted to be close to Harrisonburg to visit our future daughter in law who is in grad school there. We are thankful we chose this location as this home was not in the "resort" proper but resembled a suburban, QUIET, neighborhood on the mountain for which we didn't need to travel through resort areas. We only needed to drive a few minutes north, further up the mountain, to access resort type activities (mini golf, zip line, pool, restaurants). We are so pleased we chose this home for our vacation/visit. Thank you Letty and Jerry for sharing your beautiful home. We hope to return to the area and would love to book a future stay with you!
