Casa Del Sol A Charming 1920's Cottage (1bdrm, 1bath) On Pinellas Trail

Centrally located, you can walk one block south and experience the roar of the crowds or the crack of the bat at the dunedin stadium; home to the toronto blue jays spring training. Enjoy the smell of fresh popcorn and peanuts.

From the backyard, step out onto the renowned pinellas trail, (38 mile bike/walking trail), for a stroll into delightful downtown dunedin. Enjoy the numerous shops and local cuisine. See why, this pedestrian trail, earned dunedin the 'walking magazine's' 'best walking town in america'.

Need a day of boating? Launch your boat or take one of the many charter trips from the dunedin marina (2 blocks west) for a fun filled day of fishing, or an evening filled with sunsets and dolphins.

Or maybe you just need to get away and relax. Our butterfly garden offers that special place to forget your troubles. Loaded with native plants, our garden is home to many butterfly species.

What A Fun Place to Stay!!!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay in Casa del Sol in July. The rental is right on the Pinellas Trail which made it perfect for our daily bike rides and walks. The rental was just as advertised with everything that we needed for our stay. I also loved the fact that it was in walking distance to the quaint downtown area of Dunedin. The shops and restaurants there were terrific!!! The rental was very clean and well kept up by the owner. The unique charm of the cottage architecture was an extra special treat. Casa del Sol will definitely be on our list of places to return in the future.

Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

I wasn't sure what to expect, I was so exhausted after traveling over 32 hours from China. When I opened the door, I was immediately happy that I picked Casa del Sol.

There was a nice handwritten note welcoming me and any emergency numbers if needed. I quickly climbed into bed and had the best night's sleep ever.

The next day, I received a call from Jamie to just check if everything was to my satisfaction. It was and I shared it exceeded my expectations. I so love this location, close to the water and town. I rented a bike and enjoyed my numerous trips on the Pinellas Trail. Each day was a different adventure. I want to thank Heidi and Jamie for making sure things were just right for my stay. These two ladies are awesome!

I hated leaving Casa del Sol, but it's time for my next adventure, Vet School in the States. If you have the chance, I highly recommend Casa del Sol for it's location, price and nice ladies to deal with.

Cutest little cottage you'll find, perfect for two with a great location and price!

  • 4 of 5

Based on the pictures we were expecting a small, slightly cramped little house but when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised. The space is used wonderfully, everything flows very well and offers a great open area. From the decorations and furnishings to the landscaping outside it's one of the cutest beach houses we've stayed in. I hope we will be back, "Dogedin" has a special place in our hearts. Also a big thank you to Jamie who was so nice in answering my many questions and made sure we had everything we needed.

Wonderful stay! Clean, affordable and nice location

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time we have stayed at Casa del Sol in Dunedin, our latest being in April 2016. We are so grateful to have a clean and affordable place to stay. Dunedin has gotten so high price, it is tough to find anything under $150 per night, during the winter and spring months. No it's not the fanciest of places, but we love the location, the laid-back atmosphere and the ability to cook or grill , if we chose to. It's lovely having the Pinellas trail in our back yard and sitting on the deck just chilling, after a long day with my elderly parents. We need to come to Dunedin often, because of my parents and their declining health, it is Casa del Sol, that we chose to stay at.

Great place for "earthy" people

  • 3 of 5

The property is exactly as described but wasn't really for me. The first day I asked the owner if she ever wanted to sell the place to let us know. I changed my mind very quickly. It is a very relaxing view of the trails but some extras were provided. We both saw a snake very close to where we were sitting on two occasions, lizards by the dozen crawling on our chairs, table and feet, bugs everywhere. By the 4th day I had welts on my entire body and I did use bug spray every day. This is tropical and goes with the cabin. Many people enjoy this type of vacation . The owner is absolutely lovely. We talked to her on several occasions and she definitely has worked hard at keeping her guests happy. Now about the inside. I knew it was going to be an older cottage but her age is showing. Very uncomfortable bed, sheets and not so clean looking bedspread. I refused to take off my shoes to walk on the brown carpet and sticky tile floors. There was a couch in the living room with a beige slip cover on it. Not so good looking and I was sceptical about sitting on it. Again, I knew it was going to be an older place but expected a bit newer furnishings inside. Maybe this is the place for certain people. The town gets 5 stars. Great food and boutique shopping only steps away from your cabin. I definitely would return to Dunedin just would stay somewhere with more of my type of taste. I like to let people know my experience so they can choose the perfect place for their vacation. This may be the place for you.

Owner's Response: Casa del Sol may not be for everyone as our guest stated, but it is not advertised as a modern, contemporary, or an expensive rental. It is a quaint cottage that is part of the Old Florida charm. It is located amid beautiful oak trees, lush tropical plants, and native wild life. Since the cottage is not a part of the concrete jungle, that so many people are trying to escape, we do have geckos, that look like small lizards, butterflies, and harmless wild life outside in the area. I appreciate that the guest acknowledged that "the owner has worked hard at keeping her guests very happy." It is my up most desire that the rental provides a relaxing and comfortable environment where the guests can feel at home and enjoy their stay, at a reasonable price. Even though the cottage may not be brand new, I still stand by its cleanliness. All the linens, towels, bedspread, and sofa cover are kept up to date and thoroughly washed after each visit. I would of been more then happy to personally review any of our guests concerns inside the unit with her, but she never mentioned any of these issues to us. Every day, things were wonderful and they were having a great time. On day four they asked if we would consider selling the places, because they found them so relaxing. Unfortunately, when you are not told of an issue, you can not resolve it. I will agree some things are older, such as the carpet, but it is clean and there are plans to replace it this summer. What I did find disturbing was that she and her husband smoked in our non-smoking unit. We as a family are very sensitive to smoke, and we value keeping our places clean and smoke-free, not only for our guests, but for our family. Casa del Sol was obviously not a good fit for our guest, but we do appreciate her giving us a try. Hopefully, any future guest will find Casa del Sol, a quaint cottage with the Old Florida charm, at a reasonable price.

Tarpon springs, a greek community, is ten minutes north. One can visit sponge docks, eat greek food and shop the local stores. Want to get on the water? Take a boat ride to anclote key, a beautiful non-developed island known for its shelling.

Dunedin is within a easy drive of attractions and museums. Bush gardens (50 minutes), lowery park zoo (40 minutes), florida aquarium (45 minutes) a little longer drive include: disney world, universal studios and sea world about 1 hour and 45 minutes away. The world famous dali museum in st. Petersburg is a short drive.
