Lake Bellaire is situated to the east of Lake Michigan; this 1,793-acre all-sports lake provides plenty of opportunity for swimming, boating, kayaking, water-skiing, windsurfing, sailing, and fishing. Lake Bellaire is one of 14 lakes and rivers in the Elk River Watershed Chain of Lakes, which is a very important natural resource for the area of Lower Michigan. Lake Bellaire has been called "Fisherman's Paradise" for its excellent fishing waters. Visitors are often surprised at just how clear the lake's waters are, and how often the sandy bottom can be seen. Two public boat launches are available on Lake Bellaire for those with watercraft. The cabin is adjacent to a Loon Conservancy & located on the quiet north arm of the lake. If you have never heard the call of loons, this is something not to be missed. The town of Bellaire is located to the northeast of the lake, and it's the county seat of Antrim County. Looking for a little adventure? If you have your boat, why not take a trip over to "Short's Brewery" just across the lake in Bellaire? A welcome treat for all of your hard work paddling across the lake.

You will find a peaceful retreat at this waterfront home. The cabin features traditional log home style. 3 bedrooms with 2 Queen and a Full plus 1 full bath. Outdoors enjoy shade under tall pines. A picnic table, charcoal grill and a firepit wait for summertime fun. There is also a swing in the trees and a hammock. Ahhhh relax. Down to the water is a boardwalk through the wetland area. Enjoy the provided dock. Lake Bellaire is an easy drive to Alden and Bellaire where you can dine, pick up groceries or shop at the many eclectic shops that dot this area. You will not be disappointed when you stay at the "Loons Landing".

Will consider weekly or short stays during any season. Summer 3 night minimum.

The entire rental process was extremely easy! Once payment was confirmed, email information about the property was sent. Email information was very clear; on arrival day, email with access code arrived promptly and in plenty of time for arrival. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED our rental property! Great location for boating on lakes. Dock needs leveling. Property was clean but a bit overpriced. Internet had rental price listed for $1000.00 less after we booked (?) This is disappointing.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the feedback, we hope you had a great vacation. The dock does tend to shift, as it is a soft-bottomed lake. Our web site reservation system is all in real-time and connected to our office software so total prices are clearly advertised prior to booking. We are sorry if there was any confusion, we would have been happy to answer any questions prior to the reservation being made.

Loons Landing Bellaire MI rental and stay July 11-18, 2015

Reviewer Comments:

We liked the location. It was centrally located in the chain lakes region. The Loons Landing was conveniently located for activities and shopping. The cabin was situated nicely on lake Bellaire and had a nice view and was fairly private. The cabin was in general somewhay dirty with hair in the bathroom, egg yolk spilled in the r2fridgerator and sand on the kitchen floor. The kitchen window sill was dirty from seasonable buildup in residual. The bathtub drain was slow by being clogged with a hair mat. We reported this on Sunday and it was maintained on Tuesday with the maitenance staff. We probably spent a good hour or so cleaning the cabin. Another issue was with the advertised "unlimited Netflix" which we never did have available;even with several calls into the office. The password "loonscabin" which was provided by the owner to the office never did work. I asked the office staff to email me with the instructions since the phone messaging wasn't working. However this didn't happen. Since there was no TV, we depended on the Netflix which never happened. My guess is that the owner let the account lapse or provided false information. Lastly, as many odds and ends in the kitchen, there wasn't a pot big enough to cook pasta or other dishes and only one frying pan which wasn't deep enough to cook sauce. Even a State park has better kitchenware. I felt the staff in your office could have been more responsive. Without some sort of compensation, I doubt we would use or recommend visitupnorth.

Owner's Response: We apologize for the poor housekeeping. We are surprised that the kitchen was not well stocked as it has always been in the past. We will look into this. As far as Netflix, we do not know why it was not available. Because cable cannot be connected to this property the owner has always supplied Netflix.

My friends and I had a wonderful time at Loons Landing over the 2015 Memorial Day Holiday weekend. The cabin had everything we needed to cook meals, have bon fires and access the lake with our kayaks. We even tried out the row boat and the canoe provided. The lake was not busy with motorized boat traffic and we were able to see snapping turtles and a couple of loons! If you are interested in a getaway to northern Michigan, I recommend staying at Loons Landing.

Reviewer Comments:

We thought the cabin was lovely. Very cozy and rustic. The aspect on the water is gorgeous and the long boardwalk out to the dock is a great safety feature for parents with small children. The dock, however, could use some work as it is very rickety and unstable. Our stay would have been 5 star except for three things: the cabin could be better equipped for emergency power outages as we struggled to find candles and matches during a storm. There were no flashlights or generators or even emergency protocols and we were without power and running water for 16 hours. Three trees were also down on the property making it a concern for future guest's safety. There is also a persistent beeping - like a smoke alarm - that we were unable to locate and disable. And our stay was dampened by the presence of a mouse that got into our food and left droppings everywhere. Otherwise we thought it was a very charming cabin and exactly what we were after.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for staying at Loons Landing. We appreciate your feedback and have done our best to correct these items. We have added flashlights for emergencies. The house previously had been stocked with these items but they have a way of disappearing. The downed trees have been removed. The beeping was smoke alarms and the batteries have been replaced. Living in the north especially in the woods brings little creatures inside from time to time. We do our best to keep them out and will remove them if we know they have come inside. We do appreciate your business and hope you will visit again. Loons Landing is a lovely cabin and setting we we will continue to care for this property so future visits will be enjoyed by all.
