My husband and I got married at Sylvan Cellars, a fairly new venue in Rome City. It's about a 3-5 minute drive from the lake house. My bridesmaids and I stayed there Friday and my husband and I stayed Saturday night and Sunday night before we left for our honeymoon.
Tom, the owner, was so great and accommodating. He let us arrive a little earlier than the planned check in. He showed us around and showed us the pontoon. The area is very nice and peaceful as well. I could not have asked for a better location to spend my wedding weekend. Thanks for everything!
Don and I just stayed here the past week. It was the best place yet that we have ever rented. Tom was there when we arrived and took us through the cottage and talked over what and how to handle the pontoon. He also took us out on a brief spin around the lake to familiarize us with the lay of the lake. He made us feel very welcome. The week was fantastic. The cottage was very nice clean and so comfortable. Don loves to fish and the lake didn't disappoint. We loved every minute, it just went by way too fast! Thank you Tom. We would love to come back next year!
Our goal was to find a place for our grown children, siblings, and grandparents to visit in a relaxing atmosphere close to home. Tom’s cottage is located in a warm hearted small community with 5 connecting lakes. Many amenities were provided and used all week long such as the kayaks, pontoon boat, and gas grill. We appreciated the friendliness of the neighborhood as we navigated the lakes and would be greeted by owners waving. During our walks, neighbors would chat with us and send fruit and vegetables from their gardens to share. Growing up in a small town, we felt right at home. Our vacation was a success and our family members complimented my wife and I for hosting a getaway at this lovely cottage. Our grown children stayed with us the whole week and we all got to spend time with grandma the entire weekend. Many thanks to Tom for providing such a nice place to host our vacation.
We had an excellant time. The cottage is very nice and everyone enjoyed the screened in porch. The kids had alot of fun with the kayaks. The used them too sneak up on turtles and catch them. (they always let them go an hour later). We fished enough to keep 100 nice bluegills. After that we bass fished and caught everything you can imagine...even a dog fish. The pontoon was very nice but could use a ladder. We "pontooned" and swam daily either out in the deep or at the sand bar. Everyone around the lake was very pleasant and friendly. The boat launch in the river worked fine for my fishing boat. Everyone really enjoyed boating and swimming and fishing in all 4 lakes. If you rent the camper for sleeping we would have rented it too for sure. Maybe next year.
Thanks again for a great place to vacation.
P.s. Sorry for not filling the gas can. My son failed to tell me that he did not refill it...
I just wanted to send a quick note to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at your house on Waldron Lake. The pontoon and kyaks were great fun each and every day. Our kids really enjoyed the yard and all the fishing they were able to do (not to mention the sand bar that we visited daily). We actually had a fish fry one night after catching blue gill all day and ended up with 54 fillets for dinner - not one of them was left behind on the platter! The house was so nice and clean .... and modern as well. I really enjoyed having my coffee in the morning in the spacious screened in portion of the huge deck. The kids played in the sand area making motorcycle tracks for hours. Thanks for being so pleasant to deal with. We also visited the Gene Stratton Porter house and I was able to purchase seeds from her garden to plant in mine - very interesting history. We also checked out the Black Pine Animal park and had a splendid and educational time there as well. Thank you for making a fun family vacation affordable!
My husband and I enjoyed our stay so much in this beautiful cottage. We felt at home right away and found it neat and clean with all the comforts of home. We looked forward to the pontoon ride each day, morning coffee and evening barbecue on the large deck. We've already planned our return!
