About the host
Hosted by Nick & Val Wheatley
Hi! We are Nick and Val. As former travel writers, we spent 7 years visiting over 60 countries and documenting our experiences. We have also lived in lots of fun places including Portland (Oregon), Honolulu (Hawaii), Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). We now run 2 travel websites - WanderingWheatleys.com which covers destinations all around the globe and AboutAsheville.com which focuses on local businesses and experiences right here in Asheville, North Carolina.
Over the course of our travels, we have stayed in every type of accommodation - from a 5-star resort on a private island in Cambodia to a hammock in the Columbian jungle with a hole in the ground for a toilet.
We have also stayed in dozens of Airbnbs all over the world. Now that we have our own, we have made every effort to make it the best we can. We hope you find this space to be comfortable, cozy, and clean and that it makes you feel right at home in Asheville.

Why they chose this property
When we moved to Asheville, we fell in love with the Bent Creek neighborhood. We love that it’s family-friendly with a great community park just down the road. This neighborhood is full of super-friendly people and lots of kids. Be sure to drive slowly and carefully as we have lots of walkers and bikers at all hours of the day!
This neighborhood is adjacent to the Bent Creek Experimental Forest which means easy access to lots of hiking and biking trails. You’ll likely see lots of wildlife around the neighborhood (or even in your backyard!) Bunnies, turtles, raccoons, deer, and black bears are very common.
