About the property

3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Sleeps 9

Looking for a get-away-from-it-all spot in Northern Michigan? Well, you have found it at these two great cabins. "Laughing Duck Cottages" are located in Interlochen - rich in local history and surrounded by lakes and woods. Enjoy these two cabins with 60' of beautiful sandy frontage with dock, mooring, 2 kayaks and a canoe.

The first cabin is right on the lake with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath, sleeps 5-6 guests with 1 Queen, 1 set of bunks, and a sofabed (the sofabed has an inflatable mattress which makes for comfortable sleeping). The living room features a big stone fireplace and an enclosed porch perfect for morning coffee, playing cards or just looking at the sunrise over the lake.

The second cabin includes 1 bedroom and 1 bath and is just across the quiet street. Sleeps 4 with a Queen bed and a Sofa-bed. Washer/Dryer. Both of these cabins come nicely appointed, each with a full kitchen.

Stretch out on the hammock after all that water fun or light up a fire in the firepit and enjoy sharing stories about your day. Just minutes to the Interlochen Center for the Arts. If you like live entertainment, make sure to check out the summer schedule. Traverse City is an easy 20 minute drive. The Michigan Fair is about 10 minutes away. Miles of hiking trails. The Cherry Bowl outdoor drive in theater is about 20 miles west. There is so much to do in this wonderful area.

Linens are included. Your well mannered pet is welcome. Ceiling fans for cooling the cabin plus the cool lake breezes. No smoking.

Happy with the rental overall... Great location, clean, cozy, beautiful scenery. Some confusion with garbage pick up but no big deal. Appreciated pets being welcome! Only negative was that lake side cottage is in need of some cosmetic work. Roof and paint, bathroom definitely need updating.Overall a very nice, enjoyable stay. Kids loved kayaks and canoe.

Reviewer Comments:

Location was great, next to State park and Lake was very nice. Also very close to Traverse City with lots of things to do. The property was very old with many flaws, including exterior falling off, virtually no water pressure. The unit felt & looked very run down and not an older cottage feeling.

Reviewer Comments:

We were rather disappointed in the tiny bedroom sizes of the lake cottage. It wasn't possible to fit a pack n play for kids in the rooms. Further, upon arrival it appeared the houses hadn't gotten a spring cleaning outside to sweep debris off the porches and take down cob webs. The grass was all overgrown and we used scissors to cut the overgrowth on the path between the houses. Thanks

Reviewer Comments:

We rented two properties on Duck Lake. The one referred to as a cabin is in dire need of updating! You can feel where the original floor has weak spots and is being covered by linoleum in the bathroom and kitchen. The bathroom toilet isn't even secured properly and moved with the slightest bump of the leg. The shower is cramped. The beds are very comfortable! Great location of the cabin. Cabin has kayaks, a canoe, life jackets (kids too) and fishing equipment. The foundation of the house looks to be stabilized with random concrete bricks of all shapes and sizes. Also appears wood may be rotting. The rear property is updated and gorgeous, but the queen bed is uncomfortable.

Owner's Response: Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Laughing Duck is one of the original cabins in Interlochen close to 100 years old. Some things we can correct but some are just the character of the cabin. Thank you for staying with us.

Reviewer Comments:

We had an awesome experience renting these TWO cabins for a fall weekend getaway! The property was described accurately the cabin on the lake is an original ;) and has a great real cabin feel! The Second cabin across the street was very updated and felt more like a hotel. Both properties were very clean the cabin on the lake could use an updated maybe slightly bigger shower but it did the job. The view is beautiful, the fire pit right on the water was adorable. There were a couple restaurants right in town that had great food and it was only 20 minutes or so from Traverse City were we spent a good majority of our time! We will definitely consider this in the future! This was a great cabin for a couples getaway but would also be great for a family! I would recommend this to anyone!

We had a wonderful time at the cottages and enjoyed pretty much all the amenities they offer: lake access, canoeing, kayaking, fire pit, etc. We booked with two days in advance and all the process went flawless. The location relative to other attractions is also great: Traverse City, Dunes.
