Recently remodeled 1 bedroom apartment with balcony and ocean view. In addition to a queen bed in the bedroom, there are two futons in the living room. A 15 minute drive to the Caribbean national forest and walking distance to Luquillo beach, surfing spots and a ten-mile-wide deserted beach to the east. Neighboring town of Fajardo offers scuba//snorkeling day trips, sailboat and fishing boat charters as well as ferries to beautiful Vieques and Culebra islands.
If you want to do sightseeing outside of San Juan, a car is almost an absolute necessity in Puerto Rico. However, if your plan involves morning coffee with a view, the beach, books, good food and company, it is possible to do without one. All within walking distance from the apartment you will find other beaches, a supermarket, a pharmacy, restaurants, bars, laundry, churches, doctors and other services. The village of Luquillo is also within walking distance. Taxi to the apartment costs about $65.
I am a resident of San Juan, where families like to get away from it all to the 'country-side' on the weekends and summer months. We bought this place when my children were young and now we share it with others through Home Away/VRBO.
Wandy Rodriguez purchased this apartment in 1975
The view and the fact that it is close to San Juan and in the eastern part of the island, close to El Yunque rain forest and all sorts of beach and ocean activities in nearby Fajardo.
From the front door you can see the rain forest in the distance and from anywhere in the apartment the wide blue sea. Going to sleep to the sound of the ocean breeze and waves is an unforgettable sensory experience.
We reserved the apartment for the month of February. The apt. complex itself was beautiful. Perfect location and well maintained. The apartment was basic but had everything we needed. The view is 2nd to none! In the last week of our visit we started finding maggots. On the ceilings, the walls, floors and even on our bath towels! We located the source in a private closet of the owners that had open bags of food. My husband and I got rid of the source however this had been an issue for quite a while so there were a lot in the closet. I notified Wandy and they were prompt in getting an exterminator out to the apt. The exterminator said that the issue would not be resolved until the closet was completely cleaned out. A couple of days after the exterminator was there we started seeing them again. Joe offered the day before we left to clean the closet. We declined, not wanting to stir up a nest and end up taking some home with us. The owners seem very nice but perhaps need to visit their property a bit more often. We were "glad" that the issue didn't present itself at beginning of our stay as it was pretty creepy having to check everything you sat on, check the sheets before getting into bed etc. We spent most of one day dealing with the mess. The landlord was very apologetic but I'm not sure fully understood the extent of the infestation. I would hope they took care of the whole issue after we left but not sure I would risk staying again.
Condo was clean and well stocked with soap , towels, dishes etc. Loved the views from the terrace. Never used air conditioner because we has a wonderful breeze and couldn't bear to shut the doors/window because the sound of the surf was so soothing. Great location to a lot of activities but liked it wasn't in a touristy section.
This apartment has an amazing view right over the beach, which has the added bonus of giving the entire apartment calming ocean sounds and an amazing ocean breeze. The owners were very helpful, and were only about ten minutes away the one time we had an issue with anything. They also provided us with a great list of local attactions--which we mostly ended up ignoring to spend more time on the beautiful beach right outside.
Highly recommended, and hope we can come back here soon.
The apartment is very nice. Right on one of the best beaches in PR. And very near El Yungue. Although the apartment is not a luxury apartment, it is for the money a very very good deal. It is in a very well maintained apartment tower with an outstanding pool and great security and people. It honestly is a wonderful place!!! Oh, and you can't put a price on the balcony overlooking the ocean and El Yunque out the back door. I am charmed!
This was the second time staying at Wandy's apartment, and we loved it...again! It's just the perfect location for visiting El Yunque, Farjardo or San Juan and, of course, the gorgeous Luquillo beach. The ocean views can't be beat and the easy access to the beach make it so nice to pop down for a walk or a swim any time. Our kids loved playing in the waves right in front of the apartment and, with just a short walk down the beach, snorkeling in quiet waters. The property is just as pictured.
My husband and I spent a week at this condo and were amazed by the views from the balcony and front door. Standing on the balcony you were looking out at the beautiful turquoise water of the Caribbean and looking out the front door you had an amazing view of the rain forest. There were excellent restaurants within walking distance. The beach was just across the street and was never crowded. The seas could be a little rough but within a short walk there was an area that was much calmer. The only thing I would suggest to the condo owner is to upgrade the mattress. The bed was uncomfortable so we took one of the mattresses from the futon and placed it on top of the mattress, that made it more bearable. The condo had everything needed to make for an enjoyable vacation.

Oceanfront property located within a 15 minute drive to the caribbean national forest of el yunque. It is within walking distance to the tranquil waters of luquillo beach to the west, the surfing spot of la pared to the east, and a ten mile stretch of deserted beach further east. In the town of Fajardo many amenities await. These include kayaking in a bioluminescent bay, the las cabezas nature reserve and spending the day in icacos cay, scuba and snorkeling daytrips as well as sailboat and fishing charters are available. Daytrips to the gorgeous islands of culebra and vieques are a possibility through a scheduled ferry, although more time to explore them is well recommended.
