I have been coming to the plantation with my family for several years and have always wanted to be apart of the community. What a blessing we have.
On the Amelia Island Plantation (Omni Resorts International) now oversees the hotel on the property. Gated guarded access.
We arrived home last Saturday nite after a 15 hour drive and "Life away from Amelia Island" began with grocery shopping, lawn care, visits and work. :(
I just want to say "Thank you" for all the information you provided to help make our first visit to Amelia more enjoyable. As I mentioned earlier, the condo was absolutely lovely and we could not have had a more comfortable stay! No complaints except for the weather....a little rain...especially on Friday our last day...but a break in the evening for the festivities in Fernandina ...51st annual Shrimp Festival!
Here's a long recap of our fun-filled week on Amelia..as you'll see...we used many of your suggestions.
Saturday evening arrival....off to Harris Teeter's for their carry-out "Rib and Slaw" special...back to the condo for dinner and wine and "glad we made it"
Sunday...early morning sunrise, biking, walking and exploring Amelia...lunch at Slider's and dinner at Café Karibo
wine and music in the courtyard.
Monday...early morning sunrise, biking, walking, visit to Fort Clinch ...dinner at The Surf...for wings and margaritas along with Karaoke...much Frank Sinatra, Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline... sung by seniors enjoying Amelia and each other. (so fun to watch)
Tuesday....early morning sunrise, Cumberland Island Tour out of Fernandina Harbor 2 1/2 hour boat tour with history of Fernandina area and Cumberland Island..was able to view dolphins and wild horses grazing near beach on Cumberland..back to condo for lunch and beach....dinner at Timoti's Seafood Shack with stop at Sheffield's at the Palace for wine and piano music.
Wed....early morning bike ride off plantation...American Beach...down to the Ritz. Old Cemetery and Original Historic Fernandina....walking tour in Fernandina Historic District... T Rays for lunch.....walk on beach..then back to the Ritz for evening of fun!!! (We had discovered on Sunday that Texas Roadhouse was having their annual convention at the Omni and Ritz from Sunday - Wed. While exploring on bicycles earlier that day, discovered that there was a Big Event happening that night for the Texas Roadhouse employees at the Ritz!! We were able to talk three employees to share their passes with us...so spent the evening watching fireworks from the boardwalk of the Ritz and then an intimate 1 1/2 hour concert given to approx. 300 employees and "The Sekarsk's" by "LITTLE BIG TOWN" (big named country band). Which was a Blast! Had heard that Darius Rucker(Hooty and the Blowfish) and K

Amelia Island is very nice as is this property. The property is well furnished and clean. It is as nice as it looks. The only reason I didn't give it four stars (five I reserve for exceptional properties) is that we were looking forward to using the bikes that were listed to get some exercise and see more of the island and when we went to use them they had flat tires and the tire pump didn't work. When I emailed the owners they never replied. In the same email I inquired about the two grills that were provided, the charcoal grill was missing the top grid and the gas grill, even though there was a full LP tank, the burners would not stay lit... and again no reply and no steak. Maybe I should have pursued it further yet we were there on vacation, not to deal with problems. I had emailed the owners when we first arrived to complement them on their property and they did reply to that email. We were disappointed with their lack of concern. Again, it is a very nice property... just don't count on the bikes or grilling out.
Very nice Condo, love the trees and surrounding, a short bike ride to the beach area along with easy access through the Omni resort made for fantastic am views. The Ocean link golf course was amazing. Make sure you go on Golf Now. Com to book.. its about $80.00 a round with cart. The ocean view from some of the holes were unbelievable.. Bring lots of balls. The condo was very clean and the furniture and beds were very comfortable. I would recommend this to anyone.
Would have given a 5 star; except for hurricane Matthew(trip was cut short by 4 days)
Home is beautiful and well equipped. Owners are gracious and provided updates on storm and procedures.
Will return; next time in early spring or after hurricane season.
Our week in this villa was lovely. The condo is well equipped, the beds comfortable, and the view out back (and on every nearby street!) delightful. The owner did a fine job of listing nearby places to eat and play, but if you want to stay in, he has provided games, television, bicycles, etc. We would stay here again.
It is Eden on Amelia island. The condo is so well equipped. There is nothing that you will need. Everything from bikes to beach bags is taken care of. Clean, spacious, lovely lighting. Tastefully furnished. My favorite place to hang out was the Florida or sun room. So peaceful. The kitchen is large and well equipped. The beds are comfy. All the delights of the island are in close proximity. I have been coming to Amelia for 25 years and this is my favorite abode.
Best family vacation ever! We loved exploring Amelia Island and the villa was so comfortable and beautifully decorated. We look forward to returning!
You can book and play both the Marsh and Ocean course through golf now website, very reasonable. We also know a babysitter.
