Sonoma House Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 4

Located approx. 4 miles from IH-35, Toll 130, SH 45, and Hwy 79, for super easy access to Austin, Georgetown, ABIA, Circuit of the Americas, and the hill country. On the 130 Toll, we are located 9.8 miles from Austin Executive Airport. On SH 45 we are 9 miles from the Howard Lane Metro Rail Station.

This family friendly newly updated 2 bedroom, 2 bath home sits on 1 acre at the end of a dead end gravel road. Enjoy a sense of peace and seclusion while being minutes from activities. The owners of this property live on the adjacent two acres.

This little cottage is conveniently located close to several grocery stores and restaurants as well as retail shopping at the Round Rock Outlet Mall, La Frontera, and Stonehill Center. Dell Diamond, home of the Round Rock Express AAA minor league affiliate of the Texas Rangers is a 5 minute drive away. Grab some BBQ at the Salt Lick, located next to the stadium after the game. During the baseball season Friday night fireworks can be seen from the house! Old Settlers Park where many youth soccer and baseball tournaments are held is located adjacent to the stadium property.

Historic downtown Round Rock is an easy 5-10 minute drive for access to unique and locally owned restaurants, bars, and live music venues.

Enjoy easy access from the house to 6 miles of the Brushy Creek Hike & Bike trail.

There is a pleasant mix of antiques, modern furniture & décor throughout the house, lending itself to a comfy and relaxing environment. Direct TV and a DVD, VHS player are in the living room along with many DVDs, books, coloring books (kids and adults), games, and puzzles for those times you want to hang out at the house and relax between your outings. There is also a TV in the dining area with local channels only. Wi Fi is provided.

The master bedroom is furnished with a queen size bed, comfy linens, and is decorated to reflect the feel of the southeast Texas coast where the owner grew up. The master bath has a walk in shower, no tub.

The second bedroom sleeps 2 with 2 twin beds and comfy linens. The decor reflects all things Texas and life on a cattle ranch. Hall bath has shower & tub.

We provide all linens and towels, bath soap and shampoo. Each bed has a mattress topper and there are ceiling fans in all rooms. The laundry room is stocked with laundry detergent, iron and ironing board.

The kitchen is well stocked with a microwave, dishwasher, oven, stove, toaster, blender, Keurig coffee maker as well as a 12 cup coffee maker for those times when one cup just isn't enough. There are pots & pans for cooking as well table settings, glasses and silverware.

The house is on well water. The water is filtered & softened and is fine to bathe in, drink and use for cooking. We know some are not used to the taste of well water so we will also provide up to 20 gallons of cooler water. The cooler water is refillable if staying for an extended period of time. At times you may notice a sulfuric smell that usually disperses quickly. It's hard to predict when/if that will happen but we tend to notice it more during extended periods with no rain.

Outdoors, relax on the back porch in any of our 3 rockers, enjoy your morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening while watching the birds and rabbits that congregate by the feeder. We provide a charcoal grill as well as the charcoal and charcoal lighter. Play a round of croquet or game of corn hole!

There is a one car garage and plenty of parking for an RV or trailer on the property.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We wanted to thank you so much for our past months' stay. Your home was so fun and so comfortable. We enjoyed all the décor, the fun furniture (inside & outside), the kitchen with all the accessories, the TV's, the nice bed, lotions & soaps, BBQ, big yard & even croquet! We loved Round Rock & loved being near our daughter and her family. Thank you for making it all possible!

Cozy and relaxing is a great way to describe this home away from home!

Right away we were impressed with Granny's home. We arrived later than expected and were greeted with special treats on the counter! It was great to read about the history of the home and get a an idea of who Granny was. Guy and Marilyn respected our privacy while being readily available when our plans changed unexpectedly. We can't say enough about how wonderful it was to stay here. If we visit Austin again we wold love to stay here again.

Excellent place for two couples

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed out stay in the Round Rock house. It is a comfortable, clean home, exactly as described on the website. It has an away-from-it-all feel, even though it is in the city and close to everything. We had a great time in the area with so much to see and do. We had one small problem with the Kuerig coffee maker. Marilyn got it fixed in a matter of hours and in the meantime supplied us with coffee and filter for the regular coffee maker. We recommend this home highly.

I will stay there again on my next trip to Austin, what more can I say

The house was very clean and comfortable and in a great location. Guy and Marilyn were great hosts and made sure we had everything we needed. I make it to Austin every few months to visit friends and I will certainly try staying here again.

Not satisfied at all

The advertising is correct the house is cozy but there something major in this house water has a terrible odor is smells like sewer water when you shower washed dishes etc. owner says it goes away but it doesn't. Then i believe owner of the house goes in the house when nobody's home because the stuff is move around. The owner lives next door and she's watching everything you do. My stay there was not so good had to stay there because we had pay a one months rent. And good luck in getting your deposit refund back.

Owner's Response: After three years of listing our property on HomeAway and hosting many wonderful folks, this is the first truly unfortunate experience we have had with occupants who rented our home. First, with regard to the well water, yes, during the course of the month David was there, there were definitely times there was a distinct sulfuric smell when running the water. We are sorry for the discomfort this caused. As our home shares the same well with our rental, we are aware of the times when the odor is present, and wish there was a way to predict when this might occur. We take care to inform those renting from us and clearly state online and in our lease agreement that the house is on well water and there is sometimes a sulfuric smell associated with running the water. After multiple telephone conversations with Gloria regarding the lease agreement, agreed to by the occupants, she is aware the damage deposit was not refunded due to many violations of that lease agreement. I will not list them here as I have already been in contact by phone and in writing. Suffice to say, the house was left in the worst condition it has ever been left in the years we have rented. It was heartbreaking as the house is a cherished family home, very well maintained, and we enjoy preparing it for our guests. Thankfully we had four days before our next guest arrived as it took most of that time to return the house to the original state in which it was found when David checked in; clean and welcoming. We list very clearly in our lease agreement what is expected upon check out, and also have the information available in our guest binder at the house. These are very standard and reasonable requests. We have not, and never will, enter the rental house when a guest is not present, unless they are notified first, we obtain their permission, and for maintenance reasons only. We at no point ever entered the house when David and the other men were gone. The men's privacy was always respected. We did however notice the additional vehicle that appeared. After seeing it for a few days Gloria was contacted to inquire if there was an additional guest. At that time we were notified that another person would be staying for the last week and a half of the reservation, in violation of the lease agreement with respect to the maximum number of overnight occupants. We were able to work with you in what we thought was an amicable resolution, rather than ask you to vacate the house immediately.

Peaceful Little Oasis

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at this lovely home and I hope there will be a third stay in our future! The home is well maintained with everything you need plus lots of cozy personal touches. My son worked at Dell Diamond while the rest of us enjoyed going to the Express Baseball games, strolling in quaint downtown Round Rock, swimming in the local swimming holes, and eating Texas BBQ. But if you are feeling lazy, there is no need to leave this little house - it is lovely and peaceful and surrounded by acreage that buffers it from the rest of the neighborhood noise. On those lazy days we particularly love the cute back porch and napping in the afternoon......zzzzz.
