Schoodic Escape is a new beautiful waterfront log Maine cabin located on the shores of Schoodic Lake in Brownville, Maine, which is situated in the great recreational area of the Katahdin Region. Schoodic Lake is known as one of the state’s premier fishing areas.
Step out to the private dock for a spectacular view of the 10 mile long and 2 mile wide spring fed, crystal clear depths of Schoodic Lake. Our private dock overlooks picturesque Schoodic Lake, which is perfect for swimming, boating, canoeing, and kayaking. Schoodic Lake is one of the finest Togue fishing spots in the northeast. You can, also, find excellent hunting, hiking, moose and bird watching opportunities in the area. The log cabin rental is only minutes from the public boat launch, Knight’s Landing. Our Maine cabin is ideally situated and fully equipped to ensure that you have a pleasurable getaway in a beautiful setting.
The rustic look of exposed beams and a fieldstone fireplace are complemented by the Maine cabin’s modern amenities. It is a wonderful place for two to six people to escape for a Maine vacation. Schoodic Escape Cabin is equipped with a full kitchen, two full bathrooms, three bedrooms, a family room, a gear room, and a large covered veranda! We have provided an outdoor grill on our deck for cooking and gathering outdoors while overlooking the lake. In fact, our vacation rental cabin offers everything you will need for your family and friends to escape for a great adventure.
For snowmobilers, it’s located near some of the best snowmobile trails in the state. There is a covered snowmobile veranda to park your machines for easy access. Whether your preferences are for snowmobiling, downhill or cross-country skiing, boating, fishing or you are simply seeking adventure, our lake cabin is situated in a wonderland of opportunities that allows you to choose how to enjoy your escape!
We had a wonderful week and perfect weather. The home is beautiful with every amenity we needed. It's perfect being in a bit of a cove and having a dock is certainly a bonus.
Internet service was fine - we were too busy doing other things to really care.
Thankful we could bring our dog - as she had the best time at the lake and spent hours on the dock watching ducks and waiting for her humans to come back from jet ski rides.
Communication was great and the home was clean.
This is the only "negative" and it may seem minimal - the beds are very hard. We don't want some ridiculously expensive mattress, but there has to be something better out there. Even with a bit of a pillow top to it - just a little bit softer.
I would stay again and I would/will recommend to others.
Our family had a fantastic time! Couldn't ask for anything more! The lake is wonderful, clean, and warm and good fishing also. The lake house was clean and comfortable and the care takers were very friendly and accommodating! Be sure to check out WildWoods for food and fun right down the street. And for breakfast check out Elaine's Bakery and Breakfast in Milo.
We will return again!
What a beautiful place! The house was immaculately clean and comfortable. Our family spent time fishing, boating, and playing on the lake. There is a public boat ramp nearby to the house and the lake was not crowded at all. We saw loons, ducks, and even an eagle flying over the lake. The house had plenty of space for our family, including children age 15 and 12. There was an outdoor grill with a covered area and a nice deck to use on sunny days. There were two bedrooms and a full bathroom upstairs and a bedroom and full bath on the main level. The property manager checked in with us after we arrived and clearly everything was well maintained and safe. I would definitely recommend this rental for anyone wishing to relax on the lake. New guests should know that like many lake homes, the short road leading to the house is narrow and not paved, although we had no problems driving the boat trailer to it. Additionally, like many quiet Maine destinations, not all cell providers have service in the area. As well, the Internet was slow in the house. Be prepared to unplug and relax.
The cabin is perfect for any size group. Very clean. Easy to find. The views are breathtaking. Nice and quiet at night and a-lot of fun during the day. We went tubing, paddle boarding and relaxed. I would recommend this cabin to everyone.
The one thing that i wish was better was the WIFI service. It was pretty much non-existent.
Side note that if you try and rent a boat from Merrill Marina make sure when he says he will do it you book it wright away. He changed his mind on us and we lost our boat rental for our stay. Lucky we have family a few houses down with a boat, so it wasn't bad.
Over all this place is the best place in a prime location.
Wow, this property was a dream come true. Clean, airy, with everything necessary to have a wonderful week; grill, fire pit, dock practically outside the back door. We brought our kayaks and explored the lake every day. Mornings were spent sipping a cup of coffee while sitting on the dock, watching the fog lift over the water and mountains beyond. We felt like we had a little piece of heaven.
This is the perfect spot if you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The limited wifi and cell service was disconcerting at first but we quickly grew thankful for being unplugged. There aren't many options in regards to restaurants but we enjoyed an evening at Wildwoods (great pulled pork sandwiches!) as well as Pat's Pizza in both Milo and Dover-Foxcroft. Dover-Foxcroft does have a number of eateries, which we discovered on our last day and look forward to trying out next year.
As for attractions, do go up to Katahdin Ironworks and hike to Gulf Haggas but be warned; you are required to cross a river during the hike so bring appropriate shoes. We had hoped to go to Moosehead Lake or Baxter State Park but couldn't bring ourselves to leave Schoodic Lake. : )
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys being in nature!
the cabin was so clean, comfortable, quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed our stay so much! The lake is absolutely beautiful and clean. My only suggestion would be to move the grill to the front deck if allowed so whomever is cooking can hang out front too! We would definetly stay here again!
Baxter State Park and Mount Katahdin are easy day trip.
Mount Katahdin is the highest mountain in Maine at 5,268 feet. Named “Katahdin” by the Penobscot Indians, the term means “The Greatest Mountain.” Katahdin is the centerpiece of Baxter State Park: a steep, tall mountain formed from underground magma. The flora and fauna on the mountain are typical of those found in northern New England. Katahdin is the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail, and is located near a stretch known as the Hundred-Mile Wilderness.
Schoodic Lake is a deep water fishing lake.
