Activities: There's no end to what you can do should you decide to pry yourself away from your retreat! Hiking, kayaking, fishing, boating, beachcombing, touring, surfing, windsurfing, kiteboarding, cycling, off-roading, birding, or take in the sights of Victoria an hour away.

About The Owner

We really enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, kayaking, beachcombing, and relaxing in the oceanside air with great books. We find this property provides everything we need for a rejuvenating break from our normal pace of life. Our love of nature is satisfied to it's fullest everytime we come here!

The Owner purchased this house in 2011

Why The Owner chose Vancouver Island

We fell in love with the natural beauty of this rugged coast the first time we laid eyes on it. There is a soothing beauty to the rythym of the waves as they spray against the rocky shore, there is excitement in the orca and grey whale sightings, and we enjoy watching the majestic eagles soar above the sea. We enjoy the forest trail just steps away, and the various local beaches. All this with the backdrop of the magnificent Olympic mountain range! We love that it's easily accessible from the Victoria and Nanaimo ferries. There are great local restaurants within a short drive, and downtown Victoria is only an hour away.

What makes this house unique

We experience a trememdous connection to nature here and when we arrive, all the tension just melts away and goes out with the tides! It's so thrilling to be able to sit and spot whales, dolphins, seals, otters, eagles from our home! Also, we love taking a stroll through the meandering trail just steps away. The night sky is special here...no light pollution means we get to enjoy the brilliant canopy of stars.

Amazing locations with luxurious everything

  • 5 of 5

My wife and me stayed in the cottage for nearly one week. Even now, being back home again for a couple of days, we are still flashed by the house, views, animals, ...

We will definitely come back soon.

The organization with Eleana was great and very easy, booking one night extra on short notice was no problem. Also the house keeper gave a warm welcome and even checked the water level during the stay, when we were out exploring the wilderness. Every morning we were blewn away by this view of the cottage towards the Juan de Fuca street. The complete glassy front of the house supported the view. We saw sea lions, Harbour Seals and even false killer-whales from the terrace. Being a real retreat where you feel no one around the house is really a good base to start your tours. China, French and Mystic Beach are easy to reach and the Juan de Fuca marine trail is close.

Summary: we will be back

Beautiful property, stunning views, amazing location. Spent hours on deck watching the amazing ocean views and all the wildlife. Everything was perfect ..... apart from the fact we had to go home! Can't wait to return.

Very Special Spot

  • 5 of 5

A really special cottage in a wonderful location. The view across the wide water to the USA is brilliant. The silence only disturbed by the chug of fishing boats trolling near the lighthouse. Plenty of wildlife swimming past to lookout for and fishing from your own shingle beach and cliffs. Cottage is well equipped (for us, only lacking an ipod dock for some mood music and sun loungers). Its a long way back to town & we ate in every night as no restaurant could have matched our table view!

What an amazing week we spent at the Lighthouse Point retreat celebrating our 40th anniversary. Words just seem inadequate to express the peacefulness, solitude, and pure sense of tranquility that we experienced all week long. Every window had stunning views of either the ocean or the rain forest. No need for TV as the property manager Dawn (who is wonderful) summed it up.. you have the nature channel on 24/7. We saw sea otters, seals, hummingbirds, stellar jays, and had an eagle visit for a couple of days in a nearby tree. We took our chairs close to the ocean front.. my husband fishing off the rocks and myself, gazing at wind formations on the surface of the water, or the large ships in the distance or just listening to the waves crash on the rocks below. Food for the soul. We had our coffees and applies on the patio and ate all our meals ( except one) with an ocean view table!! Doesn't get any better. The cottage was very elegantly decorated and equipped with everything.. a coffee press which we love, washer and dryer, lovely dishes, impeccably clean bedding and linens and even a first aid kit. They have thought of everything!! This area around Sooke is beyond beautiful and we visited rain forests and amazing beaches that can take your breath away. This sweet cottage was the perfect place for us to celebrate our anniversary.. an oasis in the busyness of life. We left not wanting to leave and are hoping that we one day we can come again. Thank you Eleana.
