Owner/ Mike purchased this condo in 2013
Very nice condo within a hop and skip to the beach we could not resist. And the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. The white sand and green hue of the gulf its absolutely beautiful.
Walking distance to beach, shops, restaurants. Outlet stores and Henderson beach is a short car drive away including destin harbor bout 10 mins away, many shops restaurants etc.
Thanks! we had a very good time, very clean and cozy condo, closed to everything and everywhere.
As we have stayed here before we knew the property well. The gate code worked as expected with no issues this time, no shock when touching the keypad yay! Glad that was repaired and worked with no issues. The place was perfect again for us both and loved the quiet neighborhood but close to everything just outside the property.
Only issue this time was not being able to connect to the wifi. The wrong information was on the paperwork left for us to use to connect. Called the front office and we were taken care of and connected right way with help from the staff. Perfect! We would recommend staying here to anyone wanting a great place to stay, would live here long term if we were interested in moving but alas we like the snow.
Going through the security arm-gate and driving around the property to find the unit, our first impression was: questionable--based on the location and exterior. This is a very old property that is close to Big Kahuna's. At the same time, the location can be a plus for that very reason: your on the same side of the street as the big waterpark, so the traffic battle is not as bad.
There were plenty of walkers and bike riders going to and from work which is nice, but, where we're from, a bunch of people on-foot are opportunistic for mischief. That was not comforting.
Once we stepped inside the unit, all that changed. Very clean! The condo was immaculate. It had all the furnishings for a long weekend (or more) for our family of 4. Bed was okay, king-sized but comfort was okay. The sofa bed is just that..don't get your hopes up, but the couch and huge recliner were well-utilized. Bed pillows are very "airy"--if you need support, bring your own.
HVAC and plumbing controls functional properly. Overall finishes were in great shape: paint, bathtub, vanity, etc. Bath linens are cheap, thin kind but functional.
The kitchen was extremely clean. Plastic laminate countertops but looked new. Nice, big, side-by-side refrigerator for stocking the necessities. Plenty of cabinets..if we were there for a week or more, we would have been comfortable with buying a ton of groceries.
I would recommend the owner install additional towel hooks for bath towel use. Of course, being by the beach, you need something to hang beach towels and swim suits on outside, and there were a couple to use on the porch. Since there's no laundry provisions inside the unit, making the hike to an unknown area on the grounds is not favorable. If you put up a couple double-robe hooks in the bathroom, your guests can reuse towels. This will save you money on new towels and keep guests from going who-knows-where to wash/dry their linens.
The porch area is, like the exterior of the building, kind of sad, but it overlooks a big pond so that's a plus if you fish. Otherwise, not much to look at.
I would advise the owner to look at installing a more secure entry door locking mechanism. The door trim was pulling away from the frame due to either excessive pulling from within the condo or attempted entry from outside.. Either way, not comforting. Also, the flip lock on the large sliding door is very worn and doesn't seem to lock securely. I advise those two items be addressed above all others.
I was very impressed with this condo! It was beautifully furnished and had plenty of room for the three of us.
To uber to some places to eat was no more than $10 each way and the amount of places to eat in the general vicinity was great.
How to get to public access beach was not clear, though and we ended up driving around for a while to find access. The beach IS very close, but they are private beaches.
Also, just a heads up- the wifi info provided in the check in e-mail is out of date. The correct info was located on the router.
The condo was great. I love the way it is decorated, it made me feel like I was at home. It was a great surprise to find books for me to borrow and read while there. The only thing I might recommend is there be some black out blinds or shades put up in the bedroom. The light from outside was very bright and found it hard to go to sleep.
I would highly recommend anyone staying here and would most definitely stay here again.
Thank you for sharing your condo with us.
Only thing is I wished we had known the washer and dryer was not in our unit
