rachel 610-649-1044 purchased this house in 2000
We love Boothbay Harbor and stayed here in a bed and breakfast for many years with our children before we purchased. We looked at many towns in Maine and although we liked Bar Harbor it was too far from our home in PA. to drive in a day. It is no wonder why it is an artist's mecca. The ocean and country vistas are truly breathtaking. We liked that our house had the nice views of Mill Cove and the ocean in the distance and yet it was within walking of the village. The weather in Summer is fantastic with very little need for AC even though we have them in the bedrooms. We love old houses and this house was built in the 20's for a lobsterman. It is simple and cozy.
Our house is nicely furnished and all the sheets and towels are supplied. The kitchen is well equipped as I wanted it to have everything I would want at home in case I cook, which does not happen much since lobster is our' Maine Attraction.'Eating on the deck with the view of Mill Cove and the ocean in the distance is very enjoyable and there is a grill as well as lobster gear for those who cook theirs.. The t.v.s are in the living room and master bedroom and there is a dvd player in the living room. The washer /dryer off the kitchen is convenient and there is a powder room on the first floor. It really does feel like a B&B as it s tastefully furnished and the beds are great.
Rachel's home was a great fit and size for our family. It was close to town and when I say close, I mean within walking distance. It was PERFECT! Her home has everything you need to enjoy your time in Boothbay!
This was our first time visiting Booth Bay Harbor and we loved it! Hubby and I only get away alone once a year and this home was just perfect! You can sit on the balcony and watch the beautiful harbor sun glow. Loved the cozy living room where we could read, watch tv, or just sit and talk. The owner answered all questions we may have had when we checked in. Getting into town was too easy. You could walk or take a 2 minute drive!
Thank you for sharing your lovely home with an amazing view of this harbor.
We look forward to returning.
We had a wonderful week at this Maine Cottage. The deck & views were wonderful along with the big kitchen & dining room where we shared great Lobster dinners and time with family from Texas, New York & Alabama. The owner was very easy to work with and it had everything we needed. We would recommend this home to rent and it has great rental prices. Boothbay Harbor is spectacular.
My family of four along with my wife's parents stayed in this cozy home last June during Windjammer Days! We had a blast & the house was well appointed- it almost felt like we were staying with family. The house had everything we needed.
There was plenty of room with two large masters upstairs (great beds) along with a whimsical third bedroom with twin beds. The kids loved having their own space & loved the lighthouse themed bedroom.
Downstairs was great with a flatscreen tv & dvd player. We were able to watch the US Soccer Team in the World Cup while eating lobster with the wonderful bay views just outside.
The kitchen is large & has a cool center island for preparing food - we had lobster & seafood almost every night that we didn't go out. The house also has a cool old historic New England dining room with large wood plank floors, and a table with seating for all of us as an old wood carved Captain statue looked over us in agreement. Great decorations!
Every night we found ourselves outside on the newly renovated deck for happy hour & playtime. The kids loved all the space & the adults enjoyed our cocktails watching the sun set over the cove with a nice bay breeze.
There are so many activities near the house too. Downtown Boothbay is within walking distance and has all types of restaurants, gift shops (Sherman's Book & Stationery Store) and ocean activities (Cap'n Fish Boat Trips). We ate out several times and loved the twin specials Robinson's Wharf (5 minute drive from the house opposite direction from downtown), the kids loved playing at the Tugboat Inn as we enjoyed the Sinatra era seafood dining, ice cream at Downeast Ice Cream Factory and also the fish & chips at Bets Fish Fry on the way into town. We even walked to Dunton's Doghouse for lobster rolls one day on the walk into town for an art festival with tons of activities and parade for the kids.
We also visited the Maine State Aquarium which was about five minutes from the house with a beautiful drive along the coast. We stopped in at the Boothbay Region Land Trust and they helped guide us to several awesome hiking trails.
We visited in late June during Windjammer Days and took several day time cruises to watch the old ships sale into Boothbay Harbor, seals playing along the coast line and a bald eagle landing on a tree.
These are memories that we will always remember and having a beautiful house to enjoy each other was a blessing. I would definitely rent this house again!
My husband and I spent a perfect week at this home last summer and are currently planning our return trip for this summer! We sat out on the deck every afternoon and watched the ships go by out in the ocean. The decorating is authentic "New England" while still so comfortable, the house is as well supplied as my own, the location is perfect, just a few minutes to walk to town. The owners were very nice, easy to reach, and helpful with travel plans and day trips. I am literally counting the days to get back to this house, town, and a nice lobster dinner. Highly recommend!
The Harbor is filled every day for the daily boat tours offered from the wharf. the shops offer many unique nautical wares and Sweatshirts on the bay has the best prices anywhere. The Ebb Tide has the best breakfast and also The Blue Moon. Lobster Wharf is our favorite and the Co-op is 2nd for lobster. The Tugboat is great. The kayak rentals are awesome and you can even go out on a real lobster boat. If you love art, you will visit Rockland and view many of the Wyeth art and maybe go to Monhegan Island and see in person some of the actual places that are in some of the paintings. Go to Camden Harbor or Damariscota for a great daytrip. You will take back memories and pics of scenery that you will never forget.
