Winner Savannah Historic Preservation Award 2008.* Tri-level Loft with two bedrooms and convertible sofa on center platform - sleeps six. Two and a half baths with with walk-in shower and cast-iron tub. Thoughtfully appointed and well stocked with home comforts. Careful attention to detail throughout - the exterior has been restored to its Victorian beginnings and the interior designed for modern needs. This dwelling is unique in Savannah and provides a true 'getaway experience.' Happy travels,
Built in 1889 as St Paul's Episcopal Church by architect Eric Eichberg, this historic property hosted varied congregations over the past century before falling into disrepair around 2002. Restoration began in 2005 and the MIddle Loft was completed along with the exterior in 2008. The exterior sides, covered with stucco, were refitted with cyprus siding. The original vintage pine was reclaimed from the roof and sides to be used for the interior construction. The flying buttresses and bell-tower, both missing for decades, were reconstructed from historic photographs. About 50% of the stained glass was replaced with restoration glass, the surviving memorials were restored where possible.
The interior was designed to flow upward and outward providing different vantage-points to view the original details. The original ceiling and support columns provided the framework for a minimalist design concept - further accentuating the remarkable Victorian era craftsmanship. The green and blue glass combine with amazing results to create a surprising amount of warmth for such a large volume of space. The Loft is contemporary but the juxtaposition of the old and new creates a comfortable balance, giving the Loft the true feel of a home. We Loved this place...The Location worked well. They do need to change the batteries in the remote, the tv in the family room did not work, a few bulbs were not working and they need a full length mirror.
Just a few basic things need to be attended too.
Would go back with out a moments thought...
Also we do like TV's in the bedrooms...
This was an outstanding place to stay while in Savannah. I have stayed in many nice homes and hotels but this residence was truly unique and special. Not to mention it was clean, had great parking, quiet location, and close to town. I would surely stay her again.

Fabulous rental. Extremely clean and beautiful. Loved the antiques and books. Very quiet and spacious. Beds very comfortable and the location couldn't be better
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here last week. The location was perfect. We walked to the park every day. We even walked to the riverfront one evening. The home is absolutely beautiful and Kevin was available when needed. The home was very neat and clean. The only recommendation I would have would be that the owners provide more wash cloths. We had to go out and buy some to avoid constantly washing them in the machine. We love Savannah and will definitely stay here again if we return!!
The Sanctuary Place was such a treat for our girls' vacation. One of the members of our group is an architect who works with restoration in New York and she loved how this place was restored- top notch! It was so clean, comfortable and quiet. I slept like a baby. Even the sheets were super soft. We loved being at the lower end of Forsyth Park with so many beautiful Victorian homes nearby. The coffee shop and market that were a block away were great. Kevin was very helpful and quick to answer any questions we had. I suggest taking the 'on/off' trolley to get great overview of Savannah. Also, take note that the street cleaner comes through in the wee hours of Thurs. morning. If you are parked on Barnard St. at that time you will get a ticket. Other than that, we loved everything about the place and will definitely recommend it to our friends.

This location, just off the southend of Forsyth Park has a lot of advantages. The first being the park itself: 10 acres of green-space lined with 200 year old, moss covered trees. 2 large playgrounds, tennis and basket ball courts and a large amphitheater with a cafe. The park serves as a center piece for downtown life and acts as a gateway to the historic squares that make up downtown. The farmers market is every Saturday and the park host many events throughout the year. Several local favorites on this end of the park too including the Sentient Bean Cafe and Brighter Day Grocery - 2 indispensable places for many downtown residents. A free shuttle to downtown proper is just a couple of blocks over on Bull St, the trolley stop is also super close.
