Spend a week with your loved ones on your own private stretch of Caribbean sand! Open the patio doors to our beautiful house and you are literally standing on a secluded Caribbean beach. Your children will be able to play in the sand and calm water, marveling at hermit crabs and pelicans. As the sun sets and the only sounds are the waves and birds, you will be glad to share this memory with your family or friends.
Our property, Nah Yaxche, is located in Bahia Soliman, a private beachfront community 10 minutes north of Tulum pueblo. The Great Maya Barrier Reef breaks the waves in the turquoise water 200-300 yards from the beach. Take a kayak out a mere 30 yards into the bay and jump in for a private snorkling experience in calm shallow water. In the evening, maybe a margarita, the sound of waves and the sunset? Or if you have children, they will love taking the short drive into Tulum to shop for Mayan arts and crafts or dine on pizza or tacos.
Having lived in the Caribbean, we can assure you,it is not possible to have a more private and intimate Caribbean beach vacation than you will have at Nah Yaxche. The main house holds the master bedroom and bath and full kitchen. Ten feet away, the private casita contains the second bedroom (with a double bed) and bath. Both structures have traditional palapas (palm-frond thatched roofs).
The house is cared for by our caretaker, Obdulio who lives on the property. 6-day housekeeping is included the price of a rental. Bahia Soliman is a safe and secure private community with 24 hour private security.
Please email us with any questions. We would love to share information or advice with you. If you have previously traveled to Cancun, Playa del Carmen, or Tulum and stayed in a hotel, you will not believe what you have been missing.

About Property Manager
We are a family from New York. Some of us lived in Quintana Roo.
Property Manager purchased this House in 2005
Why Property Manager chose Tulum
Bahia Soliman is unique in the world. A perfectly shaped, calm half-moon bay, overflowing with wild-life and surrounded by homes, not hotels. Both the nature and the community are wonderfully relaxing and private. The first time we came, we knew we wanted to own a piece of this paradise forever. It took a few years, but we finally did purchase the place... and we go down to spend time there ourselves, every chance we get for as long as possible.
What makes this House unique
There simply is not such thing as a more private Caribbean vacation on a more beautiful beach. The ease of snorkling incredible. If you have never had a Caribbean beach in your backyard, we really encourage you to give it a try.

It's all true...paradise!
Our family of 5 stayed in Nah Yaxche for a week. Everything is as pictured, a true relaxing getaway. There is always a warm breeze blowing through the shutters and on the beach, lulling you into slowing down and truly relaxing. Our older kids (15, 11) stayed in the casita and had a good time, if you have kids that might visit you in the night it requires some keys in doors to stay there. The kayaks were great to head out to visit the reefs (quite a distance to tie up) or you can just swim out. There was some sargassum seaweed on the bay when we were there, but it didn't seem to stop anyone from getting out on the turquoise water. Obdulio and Flor are excellent caretakers, they cleaned and did dishes every day (except Sunday) and Flor made us dinner at our request twice, very delicious fish and shrimp (about $12 per person plus cost of food/gas), with left overs for the next day. Cute lizards, pelicans and other musical birds every morning, squirrels and a tiny scorpion visited...! In the bay we saw elusive turtles, wolf eel, puffer fish, rays, and many other fish we don't know the names of. We never got down the beach to visit Chamico's taco stand, it's shuts down after lunch (4p I think). We did enjoy restaurants in town (El Camello Jr--local fish/tacos, Los Aguachiles, La Nave-Italian, La Malquerida (tacos/soccer on tv) and in the hotel zone Ziggy's beachfront and Arca-- jungle side hipster hangout Hartwood alternative, all delicious! The water from the faucet is a little funky but luckily they provide drinking water in large dispenser in both main house and casita. Our kids fell in love with Coqueta, the resident Chihuahua, their surrogate dog for the week. Obdulio recommended Cenote Zacil-Ha on the Coba rd and the kids loved it, it's small but has underwater caves at the edges with fish and a hand held zipline for $10 pesos...just right starter cenote (and a traditional pool too) with decent bathrooms and changing rooms. Across 307 is cenote Yax Kin, nice quite one a little bigger than Zacil Ha but not as clear (more mosquitos, not so nice bathroom). Stay here, you will not regret it, with a family (or not!) much more of a getaway than staying in the town (a little rough around the edges) or the hotel zone (filled with mostly tourists, difficult beach road always crowded/slow). The Bob store by the Hotel Jashita on the bay road to house has ice cream bars and drinks. A true vacation, thank you David, Obdulio and Flor!
What can be said that has not already been said. Solimon bay is serene and laid back and from a bygone era it seems. At least from this Casa. The setting and the house and everything about this property helps you unplug and step back and enjoy . Obdulio and Flor were great . THe meal we had Flor prepare for us was fantastic with leftovers that kept us going into the next day. Loved it !! Also read David's book "Tulum" while there, which was great and added a bit to the adventure and enjoyment of the area. Thanks so much.
beautiful, pictures don't do it justice
This was such a small sweet cabana and casita, it's much smaller than those around it but perfect for the 5 of us. I could see the sunrise from my bed in the casita. Solimon Bay is a special place, we walked it all. This is a place to go if you want quiet and peace. If you want party central go to hotel row in Tulum- 10 minutes south or Playa del Carmen 30-45 min north.
The caretakers were great and Flor's cooking was the best meals we had in Mexico and I'd recommend them to people staying at other houses. We would've liked paddleboards to play with as the place that rents them down the beach charges 25$/Hr (outrageous- they rent in Calif for 8-10$/hr). The kayaks are a little weathered and probably need a little help (re-epoxied) but they did work, just have to dump water frequently.. Idyllic setting
Thanks so much for your review! We're so happy you had a great trip. We wanted to let you know that we really appreciate your input on the kayaks and the paddle board situation. We love to kayak when we're at the house, and definitely want to make sure we've got everything ship shape! In response to your comments, we got a new two-person and a new one-person kayak. So now, all three kayaks should be in good shape when you return! :)

excellent piece of paradise!
Stayed at Nah Yaxche for 9 days in Dec 2016 with family and it was absolutely perfect! We're already planning our return. The pictures were a little confusing when I was booking, but Dave responded quickly to all my questions. The main unit has the living room and kitchen with the main bedroom and bathroom. Separated from the house is the casita with one bed and it's own bathroom. This is perfect if your traveling with friends or with family and want some privacy. Both units have an amazing view of the water, which I will get to in a bit.
I was concerned about mosquitoes, but there were barely any! Most of my bites were from outings to Tulum, which is a quick drive away. The roads on the highway are smooth and easy to drive. Dave gives very clear directions once you book and the drive from the airport is easy if you follow his directions or your gps. The main dirt road leading to the house must have been re-done because it was smooth without any potholes. Once you get closer to the house the road gets a little bumpy, but very manageable even with a small sedan. You have to drive slow anyways.
The beach is priceless! This is my fifth time to the Cancun/PDC area and nobody beats the water in soliman bay. I'm hesitant to rave about this place because I want it all to myself! Everyday you'll see turtles popping their heads out of the water just while sitting on the beach chairs. Take the kayaks out and there are boat ties to park and go snorkeling or just go snorkeling off the beach. Anywhere you go you'll see fish and turtles! The water was calm enough to sit in my floater and relax.
Abdulio the Flor, the housekeepers, were lovely and have great tips if you ask. They've been there for 20 years or so so they know a thing or two about the area. We ended up arriving much later than expected for our check in due to traffic in Cancun from an event plus rainy weather on our drive from the airport and Abdulio was ready and waiting for us.
I could not ask for a better vacation home. We'll definitely be back!
Thanks for the kind words! We're glad you had a good time and we look forward to hosting you again! David
I should've written this ages ago. But having just returned from a different spring break, we spent much of the time talking about how great this trip to Soliman Bay was last spring break. Thank you so much for maintaining such a beautiful, clean, comfortable home in Soliman Bay so close to Tulum and right on the water. We thought Flor's meal she graciously cooked for us was the best food we had the entire 10 days. We had a perfect vacation. Perfect.
Beautiful Nah Yaxche!
We spent 7 nights at Nah Yaxche in late April this year and it was wonderful. The house and property are exactly as represented here. It's a lovely setting on a protected, idyllic bay. There is a master bedroom and loft in the main house with the kitchen, and an equally charming smaller separate 1-bedroom house adjacent. We had two couples and our 12 year old son and it provided a great balance of community and privacy. The caretakers rake the beach and cleanup so everything looks good every day. Bahia Soliman is an ideal location close to Tulum, the cenotes, Xel Ha, deep sea fishing and diving facilities (Puerto Aventura and Akumal respectively). Tulum is 10 minutes away (with restaurants, grocery stores, etc. as well as the coastal ruins), the ruins at Coba are about an hour away, Puerto Aventura is half an hour, and Cancun Airport is about an hour and a half. You will need a car to get around.
From the beach, you can paddle out to the reef on one of the three kayaks, and the snorkeling is amazing. Beautiful large coral structures, high biodiversity, and all an easy paddle (or swim) from the beachfront. We saw turtles, eels (at night), rays, skates, and loads of fish.
The house is well supplied and cared for. The owner (David) was easy to deal with and quick to reply to questions and provide advice for our trip. He cares about the house and the community; he wrote a book about Tulum.
I spent a lot of time hunting around VRBO, Trip Advisor, and other sites to find a place to stay. I had some level of concern that Nah Yaxche might be too good to be true and that we would be disappointed by reality upon arrival, but that wasn't the case. The photos on this site look exactly like my vacation photos from last week.
If you're looking for a beach-front house on a white sand beach, with rich architecture and a great location, you will be happy here. It's a relaxed, low key setting for enjoying Caribbean tranquility.
We are so glad you guys had such a nice time at Nah Yaxche! We also really enjoy the Coba ruins because they're pretty close and they aren't as crowded. The bike tours at Coba are fun also!
Thank you so much for the review. We hope to host you again in the future!
