Overview

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-5)

Spend a week with your loved ones on your own private stretch of Caribbean sand! Open the patio doors to our beautiful house and you are literally standing on a secluded Caribbean beach. Your children will be able to play in the sand and calm water, marveling at hermit crabs and pelicans. As the sun sets and the only sounds are the waves and birds, you will be glad to share this memory with your family or friends.

Our property, Nah Yaxche, is located in Bahia Soliman, a private beachfront community 10 minutes north of Tulum pueblo. The Great Maya Barrier Reef breaks the waves in the turquoise water 200-300 yards from the beach. Take a kayak out a mere 30 yards into the bay and jump in for a private snorkling experience in calm shallow water. In the evening, maybe a margarita, the sound of waves and the sunset? Or if you have children, they will love taking the short drive into Tulum to shop for Mayan arts and crafts or dine on pizza or tacos.

Having lived in the Caribbean, we can assure you,it is not possible to have a more private and intimate Caribbean beach vacation than you will have at Nah Yaxche. The main house holds the master bedroom and bath and full kitchen. Ten feet away, the private casita contains the second bedroom (with a double bed) and bath. Both structures have traditional palapas (palm-frond thatched roofs).

The house is cared for by our caretaker, Obdulio who lives on the property. 6-day housekeeping is included the price of a rental. Bahia Soliman is a safe and secure private community with 24 hour private security.

Please email us with any questions. We would love to share information or advice with you. If you have previously traveled to Cancun, Playa del Carmen, or Tulum and stayed in a hotel, you will not believe what you have been missing.

About The Owner

We are a family from New York. Some of us lived in Quintana Roo.

The Owner purchased this house in 2005

Why The Owner chose Quintana Roo

Bahia Soliman is unique in the world. A perfectly shaped, calm half-moon bay, overflowing with wild-life and surrounded by homes, not hotels. Both the nature and the community are wonderfully relaxing and private. The first time we came, we knew we wanted to own a piece of this paradise forever. It took a few years, but we finally did purchase the place... and we go down to spend time there ourselves, every chance we get for as long as possible.

What makes this house unique

There simply is not such thing as a more private Caribbean vacation on a more beautiful beach. The ease of snorkling incredible. If you have never had a Caribbean beach in your backyard, we really encourage you to give it a try.

excellent piece of paradise!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at Nah Yaxche for 9 days in Dec 2016 with family and it was absolutely perfect! We're already planning our return. The pictures were a little confusing when I was booking, but Dave responded quickly to all my questions. The main unit has the living room and kitchen with the main bedroom and bathroom. Separated from the house is the casita with one bed and it's own bathroom. This is perfect if your traveling with friends or with family and want some privacy. Both units have an amazing view of the water, which I will get to in a bit.

I was concerned about mosquitoes, but there were barely any! Most of my bites were from outings to Tulum, which is a quick drive away. The roads on the highway are smooth and easy to drive. Dave gives very clear directions once you book and the drive from the airport is easy if you follow his directions or your gps. The main dirt road leading to the house must have been re-done because it was smooth without any potholes. Once you get closer to the house the road gets a little bumpy, but very manageable even with a small sedan. You have to drive slow anyways.

The beach is priceless! This is my fifth time to the Cancun/PDC area and nobody beats the water in soliman bay. I'm hesitant to rave about this place because I want it all to myself! Everyday you'll see turtles popping their heads out of the water just while sitting on the beach chairs. Take the kayaks out and there are boat ties to park and go snorkeling or just go snorkeling off the beach. Anywhere you go you'll see fish and turtles! The water was calm enough to sit in my floater and relax.

Abdulio the Flor, the housekeepers, were lovely and have great tips if you ask. They've been there for 20 years or so so they know a thing or two about the area. We ended up arriving much later than expected for our check in due to traffic in Cancun from an event plus rainy weather on our drive from the airport and Abdulio was ready and waiting for us.

I could not ask for a better vacation home. We'll definitely be back!

I should've written this ages ago. But having just returned from a different spring break, we spent much of the time talking about how great this trip to Soliman Bay was last spring break. Thank you so much for maintaining such a beautiful, clean, comfortable home in Soliman Bay so close to Tulum and right on the water. We thought Flor's meal she graciously cooked for us was the best food we had the entire 10 days. We had a perfect vacation. Perfect.

Beautiful Nah Yaxche!

  • 5 of 5

We spent 7 nights at Nah Yaxche in late April this year and it was wonderful. The house and property are exactly as represented here. It's a lovely setting on a protected, idyllic bay. There is a master bedroom and loft in the main house with the kitchen, and an equally charming smaller separate 1-bedroom house adjacent. We had two couples and our 12 year old son and it provided a great balance of community and privacy. The caretakers rake the beach and cleanup so everything looks good every day. Bahia Soliman is an ideal location close to Tulum, the cenotes, Xel Ha, deep sea fishing and diving facilities (Puerto Aventura and Akumal respectively). Tulum is 10 minutes away (with restaurants, grocery stores, etc. as well as the coastal ruins), the ruins at Coba are about an hour away, Puerto Aventura is half an hour, and Cancun Airport is about an hour and a half. You will need a car to get around.

From the beach, you can paddle out to the reef on one of the three kayaks, and the snorkeling is amazing. Beautiful large coral structures, high biodiversity, and all an easy paddle (or swim) from the beachfront. We saw turtles, eels (at night), rays, skates, and loads of fish.

The house is well supplied and cared for. The owner (David) was easy to deal with and quick to reply to questions and provide advice for our trip. He cares about the house and the community; he wrote a book about Tulum.

I spent a lot of time hunting around VRBO, Trip Advisor, and other sites to find a place to stay. I had some level of concern that Nah Yaxche might be too good to be true and that we would be disappointed by reality upon arrival, but that wasn't the case. The photos on this site look exactly like my vacation photos from last week.

If you're looking for a beach-front house on a white sand beach, with rich architecture and a great location, you will be happy here. It's a relaxed, low key setting for enjoying Caribbean tranquility.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you guys had such a nice time at Nah Yaxche! We also really enjoy the Coba ruins because they're pretty close and they aren't as crowded. The bike tours at Coba are fun also! Thank you so much for the review. We hope to host you again in the future!

PARADISE FOUND--Five Stars Plus

  • 5 of 5

Wife: "Will you please write the review for Nah Yaxche?"

Husband: "No."

Wife: "Why not? I thought we all had a perfect time there."

Husband: "We did--it is Paradise."

Wife: "Well, then why don't you want to write a review?"

Husband: "Because I don't want others to know about it. Anything I say will be so glowing that others will want to go there and therefore make it harder for us to book it when we can find time to go again, which I hope will be soon."

Wife: "But don't you think..."

Husband (knowing a few choice words about sharing--especially something really good--are justifiably on their way and so interrupting): "I don't think...I KNOW it is perfect. I KNOW it is Paradise."

Wife: "O.K. I get your point. Then how about you go rent it for as many times as possible for the foreseeable future and then write a review."

Husband: "Great idea!"

Absolute Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful casa and casita are were the PERFECT vacation for our family of 6. It was my husband and our 4 children (3 boys- 19, 22, and 24- and one 12 year old daughter). We did nothing but relax in the most idyllic setting we've ever encountered. Each morning, we'd watch the sun rise from the water's edge, kayak out to the buoy for snorkeling in the reefs, come back, eat, relax, swim some more, take a stroll, relax, eat, and relax some more. While snorkeling, we saw sea turtles, manta rays, sting rays, a barracuda and many, many beautiful fish. Evenings were spent playing cards and enjoying each others company. We only ventured off site to go to the grocery store and once to the ruins. Other than that, we had no other needs! Obdulio took such good care of us. He keeps the grounds in pristine condition. He daily raked the beach, made our beds, swept the floors. We were pampered, I felt! Flor made us two fabulous, delicious meals. We only wish we spoke better Spanish so we could have conversed with them more. They were so sweet. We have absolutely no complaints about this setting. It was perfect. We said many times while we were there and since we've been back, that we would LOVE to go back some day. It truly was PARADISE! Thank you David and Ona for sharing your beautiful home with us! We felt privileged to have stayed there! My husband read your book, too, David..."Tulum". He enjoyed it very much. This speaks to how relaxed we were...he NEVER reads a book (only books to "learn" something). Well, he learned...how to relax!!! Thanks again!!

Owner's Response: Thanks Kelley! We're so glad you had such a great time. We'll let Flor and Obdulio know about your kind words. We always love her chiles rellenos and now she's making these tacos dorados that are just amazing. We look forward to hosting you again sometime!

Perfect and private on the beautiful Bahia Solima

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent 8 wonderful days with Nah Yaxche as our home near Tulum. The pictures of this home, do not compare to it's true beauty. For a wonderful experience, just 15 minutes from the heart of Tulum, Nah Yaxche offered a private home setting with the beach mere steps from the house. The home is one with its environment, allowing the sea breeze to come in through the many screened windows and doors. Beautifully decorated with native textiles. The beach cabana, hammocks lounge chairs and kayaks provided hours of relaxation. The bay provides a calm setting for watching the sun and moon rise. Flor and Obdulio, the caretakers, tended to the house everyday, allowing for us to not worry about cleaning. Flor is also available to cook a fantastic traditional meal. You can walk to a high end boutique hotel, Jashita, at one end of the bay for a gourmet meal. Or find the fabulous "fish shack" on the other end of the bay for the best ceviche amid the sand and palm trees. Hope to return to this wonderful place.

Owner's Response: Claudia, We are so glad you had a nice time at Nah Yaxche and enjoyed dining at Chamico's - one of our favorite spots for a ceviche and a beer in the afternoon. Obdulio and Flor send their best!
