Labor Day Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed the cottage and the area of SW Michigan. We were there for a family wedding in St. Joseph and stayed long enough to have time for a couple of wineries!

A Beautiful Extended June Weekend at Hearthaven.

  • 5 of 5

Because we live in Ont., Canada, and, our daughter and her family reside in Morton Grove, we have often shared a cottage at Union Pier, or Lakeside, because it is a manageable 6 hours for us and only two hours for them. They have children and jobs so the shorter drive the better. It is such a great place to meet and enjoy each other and all that the area affords. We were very excited to have found the perfect cottage for our extended weekend in Hearthaven Cottage. It was the right size for 6 of us. We so enjoyed the veranda on an especially hot weekend and ate all our meals there as well as catching some snoozing. We had a nice walk to the beach where we were able to swim and stay cool.

The garden is delightful and full of birdsong. Tucked away is the campfire site. Sheltered under the trees, it was great fun to chat and eat charred marshmallows. The sound of the trains a couple of times a day made us very nostalgic.

The cottage was exactly as Betsey described. The kitchen had staples and was very easy to use. Our beds were very comfortable although the grandkids decided the loft would be their place probably because they had a bit of separation from the adults but we were still just down the ladder.

Hearthaven is owned by very caring people and it shows. All our expectations were fulfilled and we all had a very relaxing, and happy time! We look forward to meeting there another visit.

Cozy cottage

  • 4 of 5

Our family has rented this cottage for several years. We know that it will be clean, well stocked with essentials and comfortable. We especially look forward to eating and relaxing on the screened- in front porch. Access to Lake Michigan for swimming and walks on the beach is only a short walk or drive away.

A great place to spend some down time.

Lovely place for a relaxing stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time with 2 babies and 2 toddlers and 4 grown-ups.

Lovely property, great A/C in the humidity, campfire, grilling, chilling, and a short walk to the beach.

So much fun, we're gonna make Hearthaven an annual family tradition!

Hearthaven was exactly as described-and more.

  • 5 of 5

Hearthaven has everything you need to enjoy time on the Michigan shores. Walking distance to beach, close to dining out and Warren Dunes. Owners have left brochures of many things available to do in Harbor Country. The property's screen porch looks out over a lovely landscaped yard complete with trickling fountain and a fire pit. Hearthaven provides time to step back and relax without any of the cares. The kitchen has everything you would need, and bathrooms are stocked as well. Loved the CD selection and sound system. The two of us were completely satisfied-and wished we could have shared this lovely place with another couple. Next time for sure!

Super Charming and well kept. Kids loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much for letting us stay at this beautiful cottage. We could tell that it is lovingly maintained. It was what the whole family needed! It is definitely worth staying here!

The kitchen is fully stocked with all the supplies you need for cooking. There are tons of books, many games, and cable TV to keep you entertained on rainy days. Beds were comfortable. There are tons of fresh, clean towels and extra shampoo in the bathrooms if needed. Part of the porch is screened so you can still sit outside in comfort. The fire pit area feels secluded and quiet - tons of firewood that is included in the price of the rental. The beach is less than a 5 min walk away. There is a shower outside which was PERFECT for getting all of that beach sand off in the evenings. And the front of the house has floor to ceiling windows/glass doors so it feels much bigger than it is (it was my favorite aspect of the house....stunning!). The vaulted ceilings and the clean white paint give the whole house an open airy feel.

Betsy's communication is excellent (as others have pointed out). We had a couple of questions and she got back to us right away.

My kids will be talking about this vacation all year. When we drove back and parked in our driveway our 4-year-old started crying! She wanted to go back to the "summer house". LOL. It was the perfect getaway before starting the school year. Thank you once again! We hope to be back.
