Welcome home! The stately Waite N Sea House invites you up the glass block stairs to the wrap around porch and into the stunning two-story foyer of this charming contemporary yet very homey abode. Waite N Sea features 4200 square feet of living space equipped with every modern amenity.
From the moment you walk through the door you are surrounded by extensive use of warm woods juxtaposed with light bright interiors with sunlight cascading in the many windows.
Your first impression of the interior will be the two-story wooded foyer that will lead you back to the gourmet island kitchen with state-of-the art Jenn-Air and Sub Zero appliances and granite galore. The sunken dining room is adjacent to the kitchen and both rooms overlook the incredible pool area – more on that later! The downstairs also offers a formal living room and comfortable den with large screen TV (with pull out double bed) as well as a bathroom and a laundry room with washer/dryer.
Venture up the hardwood stairs to the second floor and the dreamy master bedroom and spa quality master bath. The four poster king bed will lull you to sleep after you relax in the Jacuzzi tub surrounded by natural stone on every surface of the bathroom. The second story offers two more spacious bedrooms, one with a king and one with a double, and one and a half more baths. A spiral staircase leads you to third floor with a private bedroom filled with light. This crow’s nest room has a double bed.
Waite N Sea is one of the only houses on the island with a TV in every bedroom. To add to your leisure activities, Waite N Sea also features a home theater room with theatre chairs, 65' led ultra slim tv with superior surround sound.
For those who like their entertainment outdoors, night or day, the Waite N Sea House offers the best set up on the island. The private walled pool area features a large lit pool and a 10+ person Jacuzzi hot tub on an expansive deck with a cozy curtained pool pavilion. This is the perfect home for a social group or fun-loving family.
All of this is a one-minute walk down a private path and (long) flight of steps to a deserted pink sand beach.
Amenities at Waite N Sea include central air conditioning, WIFI, cable TV, DVD player, surround-sound inside and out with satellite TV as well as individual CD players, telephones in every room, indoor Jacuzzi tub, home theater, and an automatic back-up generator to keep it all running if the power goes out. Outside amenities include pool, hot tub, outdoor entertainment system, gas grill with outdoor dining area, sea kayak, and two bikes. A chef is available upon request.
The town of Palmetto Point is just half a mile away, a one-minute drive or a ten-minute walk. Palmetto Point is home to the popular Mate and Jenny’s restaurant, as well as several stores. Tippy’s beachfront restaurant is a 5 minute drive. A ten minute drive takes you into Governors Harbor, the main town on the island. Governors Harbor has a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. Buy fresh fish and lobster most afternoons from fisherman at the town dock, or visit the recently restored Haynes Library, which dates from 1897, for the weekly coffee hour for foreign residents and tourists. Governors Harbor has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, and a medical clinic. Friday Night Fish Fry in Governors Harbor, a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street, is not to be missed.
Eleuthera is famous for its 100 miles of spectacular, deserted beaches. The island, home to just 11000 residents, is known for its friendliness and safety. Visitors enjoy the rare experience of picking up hitch-hikers and leaving their keys in the car. The snorkeling, diving, and fishing on the island are world class. Boating, surfing, and other water sports are also popular. You can rent power boats, sailboats, sea kayaks, jet skis, scooters, and bikes.
The house is lovely, with lots of room to handle our party of six very comfortably. The pool and hot tub are great, as is the beach. AC is excellent, which was a real pleasure on sticky days. As everyone has said, David couldn't be nicer or more helpful. Matt and Tara from the rental agency were excellent and responsive resources.
My rating is not higher because of the persistent maintenance issues. Many were addressed by Michael immediately, but some were not including the grill, which never got hotter than 300 degrees. The second shower either didn't work or had only cold water. We could never get the movie studio to work. No hair dryer and the knives couldn't cut bread, let alone anything else. More than half the track lighting bulbs were out. The last day, construction in the area cut our water, meaning no showers or working toilets for an hour while we were trying to get ready to go.
If these were fixed, the house is a great way to experience the island.
As newcomers to the Bahamas, we had plenty of questions to ask prior to ever setting foot on the island of Eleuthera. Between Matt Simon, and the owner of the Waite N' Sea, Michael, all of our queries were answered perfectly. The home was wonderful, the grounds are kept immaculate, and the inside of the home was surgically clean. The kitchen is stocked with all the pots and pans you could ever want, just don't forget to buy the seasonings you will need when you get groceries for the first time. The folks at Eleuthera Vacation Rentals were as helpful and accommodating as a traveler could ever hope for. On the plane ride home, my wife was already researching deals on airfare for a return trip. If our family wasn't eating ( LOVED the Buccaneer ) or sleeping, we were in the water. Between two oceans, the pool and the hot tub, we were ready for the spin cycle ! Can't wait to go back !
Waite N Sea is a stunning house with an immaculate, beautiful yard. It is large with plenty of room to house a large group but we had several small issues we encountered with our group of 8. The dining table only had 6 chairs (we moved in two from the deck which were quite low but did the job). The pull out sofa was not adequate to sleep on for our 20 year old guest so he slept on the floor. The hot tub seemed to lose water every night so David had to re-fill it every morning. It was not hot for the first two days but as soon as Michael found out about that, he sent a repair man immediately. The taps have very little water pressure and one sink in the master ensuite never did have water. The bathroom situation was interesting as two of the toilets/shower/tub belong to the master suite and one toilet/shower is situated in the middle of the exercise room with no doors or walls. This left one washroom for the majority of guests to use. The ensuite had two entrances so we made a temporary wall into the bedroom so the others could use one of the master washrooms. We would have no qualms of highly recommending Waite N Sea to others and regarded these issues as typical minor hiccups on a tropical vacation when staying in a house used by many other people. David was amazing and did everything in his ability to help us with any problems we had (getting the dvd player to work, filling the hot tub). Paula phoned often to make sure we were doing well. On one night after a spectacular thunder storm, we lost power to the house. Before we could even get up to find a candle, the generator kicked in and we had full power. If I could make a recommendation, I would suggest putting towel bars in bathrooms to hang towels up and checking the water pressure situation in all bathrooms. Eleuthera is truly our home away from home and we enjoyed staying at this home.
we stayed here for 2 weeks and we loved the place the beach is beautiful!!!
first thing is i would like to thank david (davey) the maintenance guy he was so nice and he always made sure we are ok or if we needed anything.we loved his two dogs he had they are

This was our first time to the Bahamas and Alexis and Michael the homeowners, were great to work with. They were very responsive and helpful - from helping us find our way around the island to arranging a rental car. The house was very nice, well maintained, very comfortable and nicely decorated - plenty of space for all 9 of us. We really enjoyed the pool and theatre room. There were plenty of towels and linens and the kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots and pans and serving items. David, the caretaker, came at least twice a day to make sure chairs were out on the pool deck, to clean the pool and just to check in on us. This house had everything we wanted in an island vacation and we found the island of Eleuthra to be fantastic - great food, great scenery and wonderful people. Once we got into the "island groove" we had one of the best vacations ever! Our thanks to Michael, Alexis and Matt Simon (their agent - so great to work with) for all their help and attention.
This was our third trip to Eleuthera and our third vacation rental house. The house is large, clean and modern with an amazing home theater that we used every night. At the end of a country lane, you have total privacy. A small trail from the back yard leads you to your own private beach where we hardly ever saw another person (hint...take Skin So Soft or other repellant for the sand flies on the beach). There are lots of beach towels for your convenience. The owner and his manager were welcoming and very responsive to our questions and concerns whenever they arose. We hired a private chef for part of the time which I think is a great way to get the local food experience without having to get in your car and drive 15 or 20 minutes every time you want a meal. There are two potcake dogs that hang out at the house and we all fell in love with them (even the non dog-lovers among us). Although they don't come inside the house, you'll see them around and will undoubtedly admire their independence, loyalty and peculiar island characteristics. You can learn more about potcake dogs on Wikipedia. We rented a sailboat from a young man in Governor's Harbor and he was willing to take us anywhere up and down the coast for a very reasonable price. Tippy's Restaurant of course is wonderful. Thompson's Bakery in Gregory Town makes to-die-for pineapple tarts and the bakery in Governor's Harbor is also wonderful. Be sure to visit Harbor Island, Spanish Wells and Surfer's Beach (if you surf). The people are delightful, warm, welcoming and always helpful. Love Eleuthera! Thank you Michael Johnson for sharing your home with our family. And thank you Matt Simon of Eleuthera Vacation Rentals for your ability to immediately address any concern and your efficiency in ensuring our perfect vacation.
