About the property

Hilltop Custom Home: 7 B, 7 Ba, Truly Spectacular Vistas, sleeps 18

Our 6,000 sq foot mountain home, located on a high point just above Fraser, boasts the most spectacular distance views in the Winter Park area! Through three walls of windows you'll see Beyer's Peak, the slopes of Winter Park, the Devil's Thumb, and the Indian Peaks all around while you look down upon the Devil's Thumb Ranch cross country ski terrain. High-end details in this home that was completely remodeled include designer bedding and art, baths remodeled with stone tiles, and copper bar tops, radiant in-floor heating. Check out lots more photos on our website ososoverlook dot com, and then use the calendar and the contact form at the right for inquiries. [To avoid phishing scams, we will not reply to inquiries with no particulars (especially inquiries with multiple spelling errors, those without a realistic number of guests, or those not specifying dates.) There's a field for questions you may have. Thanks for your understanding.]

Host your cocktail party, reunion, or corporate retreat here! This house is ideal for entertaining, business meetings, groups of couples, and family gatherings. The 30x30' great room has a dining table that seats 10 comfortably, a bar table for 4, and a kitchen bar area that seats another 6. Caterers can bring extra tables and chairs for large outdoor gatherings. Seating groupings within the open area and grand entry allow for quieter conversations and relaxing by the fireplaces. A large balcony and fireplace greet you as you enter. Glass doors open from the great room to a covered patio with outdoor furnishings for eating or relaxing and enjoying the unbelievable views. We have five gas fireplaces, radiant in-floor heathing and a spa to warm you. Huge vaulted ceilings with designer furnishings throughout will impress your guests. The huge open kitchen is gourmet quality with six gas burners, two ovens, three sinks, and two dishwashers making catering, cooking, and cleaning up a breeze, even for large groups.

Tired of sharing bathrooms? This house was formerly a bed and breakfast that underwent a total remodel and addition of a big Great Room. The 2 king and 4 queen bedrooms have internal private baths and closets (except for one queen upstairs that has its own dedicated bathroom in the hall). 3 bathrooms have a tub and a shower and 4 have shower stalls. Each bedroom has its own balcony or a separate exit at ground level. The 'owner's suite' is four rooms -- one office with a computer, one sitting room with a private fireplace, a sleeping area and a private 5-piece bath with a steam shower. The basement was remodeled in a 'mining' theme. It has four twin-sized beds in a bunk room. Also in the basement is a media room equipped with a big screen TV and a queen pullout sofa sleeper. A 3/4 bath serves bunk room guests. The king bedroom on the first floor is accessible to wheelchairs, but help to use the shower or tub would be needed. Two complete sets of washers and driers keep the vacation laundry moving.

The Winter Park area has lots to do. In the winter, ski at Winter Park and Mary Jane, or snowmobile and cross country ski. Great fishing and almost limitless world-class mountain biking is available in the summer. We have a gas grill, a two-car garage, a spa, and seven acres your kids can roam around on. Our kids like to set up bike jumps in the summer and bobsled courses in the winter. Within 45 minutes are Lake Granby for waterskiing or sailing, and Grand Lake with its water sports and classic boardwalk. For such a small town, the Winter Park area has casual and fine dining, and the 5-star spa at Devil's Thumb Ranch is just a short drive away. Come play, dine and reconnect.

16 of us arrived at the cabin on January 25th and stayed thru the 28th. Upon arriving to the property we realized that this place was absolutely Amazing and Majestic as it sat atop a hill with no other homes around it. Entrance was easy, and the Home was set up perfectly. The pictures do not do the property justice! It's amazing!

Every person in our group stated clearly that this was one of the best travel experiences they've had, in regards to the Property. There were a few issues with Uncomfortable Lime built-up shower heads in certain bathrooms, and the Wifi DID in fact, require a code. All Fireplaces had to be turned on differently.

Needless to say, we'd love to return to Oso's Overlook.

Absolutely Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Our entire family gathered at Oso's Overlook to ring in the new year and everyone was overly impressed with this home! The house itself is gorgeous and extremely accommodating for large groups. There are areas large enough to congregate and plenty of spaces to slip away to if you need a moment alone. The bedrooms are comfortable and each has an incredible view. We couldn't have selected a better place to stay. We are already planning our return to this very house!

One large, gorgeous, breathtaking property!

  • 5 of 5

We rented Oso's Overlook for my daughter's small wedding. With 7 beds and 7 baths, a large and inviting kitchen and main room, it became the perfect venue for our purposes. The backyard view overlooking the valley was exquisite, allowing us to take in the changing colors in all their splendor. The outside patio and furniture allowed our guests to watch the ceremony and then eat and socialize. As we had some food catered and prepared other meals ourselves, the huge kitchen was such a boon and beautiful, to boot. So many guests commented on how perfectly this home would support an extended family reunion or the like. The owners were so easy to deal with and made certain that our every need was addressed. Overall, although the weather did not really cooperate with our outdoor wedding plans, the entire home was so wonderful and warm and inviting that no one noticed anything other than the wonderful surroundings. Also, the house has a large over sized garage which the owners had swept out spotlessly. This came in handy as we had planned on food trucks to be parked in the circular driveway, supplying the dinner, but when it snowed, they all moved their supplies inside the immaculate garage and the show went on!

Many thanks to Lisa and her family. You made our special event the best!

Beautiful house, beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

We had four families of four (16 people in total) at Oso's Overlook for a long weekend and it couldn't have been more perfect. From the comfortable beds to the big kitchen to the unbeatable views of the continental divide, Winter Park ski mountain and Byers Peak, we absolutely loved it.

Awesome - Fabulous - Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Dates of stay: August 24, 2016 to August 30, 2016 = an A++ property!

Communications with Lisa Mahoney, the owner of this fabulous property, began in June of 2015, as our son and now daughter-in-law were to be married on the grounds of the property. This was to be a "location wedding," for us - and Lisa was there to answer questions about the house and property throughout this tedious process.

The summer mountain backdrop from the house and property were just stunning which added to the allure of this special day! The house has a COMPLETELY equipped gourmet kitchen; and every room in the house has been custom decorated to suit this beautiful mountain setting. The photos on VRBO are accurate, but do not do the property justice - the rooms are well equipped and the living area is a very large, spacious area. We hosted a Rehearsal Dinner at the house the night before the wedding, and were thankful for the expanse of this area! I could go on and on about the comfort and accommodations at the OSO House. It is the PERFECT place for large family gatherings. The fact that all but one room is ensuite ( in all fairness, that room has a hall bath just outside the door) and each has access to a private patio - if guests want to have quiet time - their room will afford this!

We were visited each morning by a resident red fox, and two young deer - and of course, the chipmonks.

The property is a short 15-20 minute drive to the Winter Park ski area where family and friends met to take on the challenge of the summer toboggan slide, the maze and of course shopping in the Village. 45 minutes north of the property is Grand Lake and the Adams Falls hike. The falls hike is an easy hike, but keep in mind, the altitude in this area... Do plan to stop for lunch in Grand Lake, walk the wooden boardwalks, and enjoy this quaint mountain town.

We took a day trip loop through the Rocky Mountain National Park. The entrance to the Park is just outside of Grand Lake. We drove all the way to Estes, Colorado through the park, stopping to take the hiking trail at the 12,000 foot level ; had lunch in Estes, and then made our way back to Fraser, stopping in Grand Lake before heading back to the OSO House. WOW! This drive is majestic folks! We saw moose, elk, deer, fox and yellow marmots - most from the comfort of our vehicle. We were gone from 10:30am to 5:30pm - plan for a day trip, because you will be stopping frequently.

Fab Wedding & Fab stay!

This property is exquisite. The home has 6 separate bedrooms with 5 having an attached bath within the room except one. The one room that does not have a bathroom attached is conveniently located right across the hall. The basement (media unit with a pull out sofa ) and the 4 bunk beds have. one joining bathroom. This is really a great set up for kids/teens. The home is furnished like a beautiful Colorado bed and breakfast. You will not be disappointed with the interior contents of this home. Then you step outside! There is a 360° view that will knock your socks off. I had some family members that joined us in Colorado. They never left the home. They said they were in heaven and would not leave to go on outings. What a compliment to the owners for building in such a beautiful place.

What makes this house unique

Even people who live in Grand County invariably exclaim upon arrival, 'Wow! What views!' It's really a treat to sit in the great room by the fire with a hot coco and watch snow falling while you're surrounded on three sides by enormous windows.
