Great location and accommodations

  • 4 of 5

Nice house with easy access to all the area has to offer. Peaceful and quiet. Call Stephanie at Jocassee Keowee Rentals and they will deliver additional kayaks or even a pontoon or motor boat to the dock. We had a blast on the lake and swimming at the dock.

Mildew Manor.

  • 1 of 5

This was a charming little house. But it needs some maintenance. Namely, the mildew smell. The walk out level where the pool table is located is basically unusable because of the strong mildew/mold smell. The smell permeates to the main living area, but not as strong. One especially notices it when coming in from the fresh mountain air. The other issue that people may have, that wasn't that important to me, is the problem with wifi reception. There was none during my stay. I was initially told that the party staying there the previous week used up all the data??????? When I contacted the owner, he told me he would add 5 Gigs???? After that, it still didn't work and I was instructed to contact the media network myself and if need be I would have to be around if they needed to come over and straighten out the problem. I was there to enjoy myself in the outdoors, not wait for a telecommunications company to fix the problem. Good thing I was not a day trader. The online brochure indicates there is wifi. I was in the area to check out properties for sale, and it would have been nice to review them on line. As I stated in the opening sentence , this could be a very charming property if some maintenance was performed. Many people are allergic to molds. Fortunate that I wasn't.

Owner's Response: this review did bother me as we have never had any complaints like this in the ten years of very frequent use . as i,m a builder by profession i decided to ask a company that deals in this matter to check and see if there was a problem ,as i suspected we found nothing but decided to encapsulate the unfinished area of the basement and install a dehumidifier we have just completed. as to the wi fi problem we have a system with dish network that allows 15 gbs the highest that they offer when it runs out its gone ,the renter called me and i expediently added 5 more gbs and asked would he mind calling the copany to rebot over the phone the modem i gues he never did as when i went up all that was need was to puch rest button on rear of modem as i built the house myself i take this business very seriously and have a very vested interest in everything and we strive to make the home as comfortable as possible any body that has stayed has only said very positive things about the house and surouding area

Great house with all the ammenities needed for a relaxing, fun time

  • 4 of 5

Wonderful house with everything you might need. In addition to the fully equipped kitchen, nice bedrooms, and common areas, we particularly enjoyed the large kitchen table, the deck, the grill, the pool table, and the covered dock which really came in handy for our boat the few times it rained. Look forward to future stays.

Awesome week at the Lake!

  • 4 of 5

This house is much larger than it looks from the outside. There was plenty of space for our family of 7-9. I would have loved to have all 3 bedrooms with queen beds (made it uncomfortable for one couple with the 2 sets of bunk beds), but we made it work. The view is spectacular, the kitchen is very well equipped, plenty of bathrooms and we also loved the screened porch for anytime of day. The nice large eating table was great for family meals. The owner is wonderful to work with and very accommodating. I would definitely stay here again. The only thing I didn't like was the overall cleanliness of the home upon arrival. I could write my name in dust on the living room tv or downstairs bar space area, and our bathroom mirror wasn't clean as the kitchen area needed attending to. I can't imagine being able to do a "deep clean" in between guests checking out and checking-in, but on weeks where there is no guests - this should be attended to. Again, not a big deal breaker for us - we just cleaned as we settled in. There is also a need for more towels (in both kitchen and bath), but again very minor overall. Thank you Dominic for a great stay at your beautiful lake home!!! Side note: If anyone needs a great pontoon boat rental - we went through Ship Shape rentals (John at 864-569-5016). They were so fantastic! Brought the boat right to our dock and then took it on our last rental day over to Lake Jocassee - which we just LOVED spending the day on that lake as well!

Breakfast With A View

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our overall stay at this fun lake home. The layout of the home was perfect for our family. We would have liked to use the community hot tub but it was closed for the season along with the pool. I would suggest that the owner does a deep clean between guests. I had to clean the shelves in the refrigerator before we could use it as well as remove hair from the shower. We had a difficult time using the DVD/VCR because of the abundance of wires and remotes that were available. We have rented several homes on VRBO in a variety of states and this is the first time that I had to make the beds as the linen was sitting on top of the bed. I was glad that I arrived prior to the rest of my family so I could get the house ready. We loved having our meals on the porch overlooking the lake as well as the hiking and close proximity to hiking. Also, we had to drive home with our trash because we couldn't find the dumpster that was on site. I think a welcome to the house book would be helpful to renters in the future.
