It is our go to rental !!!

  • 5 of 5

Kerri was absolutely wonderful and so accommodating. We are a group that participates in the Susan G Komen 3Day Walk every year. We have stayed and rented different houses in the San Diego area for our team over the years. This is the one we have come back to again. The amenities are perfect for team. See you again for our 2017 walk. THANK YOU !!

Home was average...

  • 3 of 5

The family of 10 stayed in this home for 3 days and give it an average rating.

Kerry was very responsive but the home was missing some key ingredients that would have added to a positive experience:

* No A/C

* Back windows facing towards the bay did not have any screens.

* Front porch light did not work and guest house downstairs did not have lights for guesthouse door.

* Bathrooms were very small and guest bathroom toilet was tiny.

* Water pressure throughout the house was low.

* Sofa bed did not work so had to use an air mattress.

* Inside house lights were a low yellow color...just needs new bulbs.

* A broom or small hand vac would have been handy.

* Dining room chairs need new fabric/cushion.

This are a few minor items that can be done to improve the guest experience.

Thank you and hope all is well.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I would like to take this opportunity to clarify several of the items mentioned above: * Correct, there is no AC, just like it says in our listing. This is rarely an issue with mostly mild temps. and a bay breeze! * There are no screens on the west facing windows because we feel that they interfere with the view. We are lucky enough to live in a place with very few insects. We feel the occasional housefly is worth the unobstructed bay and sunset views! (We can make the screens available if a guest feels they're necessary). * The front porch light DOES work. It is on a motion sensor. *The water pressure is normal. *The toilets are a standard size. *The sofa bed was indeed damaged prior to this particular guests stay. We advised them in advance of this and provided extra airbeds. The sofa bed has now been replaced. *The lights are not all dim. They are equipped with dimmer switches. Turn up the switch and the light get brighter! * There is indeed both a full size broom and a hand broom as well as 2 or 3 dustpans provided. They're in kitchen and bedroom closets respectively. *The dining chairs have all been reupholstered. We want all of our guests to have a "five star" stay at our home and we do all we can to make this happen! Many reviews are of course, subjective and a matter of opinion. I felt the need to clarify items in this review because most of it is simply inaccurate, not opinion. In addition to providing inaccurate information in their review, the guests also chose to violate our rental agreement by bringing pets into the home (we only allow certified service animals with advanced notice). This translates into additional cleaning costs for me as the owner. I did not pass this cost on to the renter as a courtesy. They also did not follow the few simple items in our checkout procedure and left house unlocked and the door actually standing open. We love hosting and providing a comfortable, beautiful place for our guests to relax, have fun and make memories! We look forward to hosting many more happy travelers! Sincerely, Kerri

Nice, clean, central home

  • 4 of 5

The home was clean and the backyard was great. Spacious main room, lots of seating indoor and out. Patio was nice, with a real grapevine growing. Fruit trees and bushes also were blooming in the backyard. The playset in the back yard was a great touch, though it was a little rickety and could use some maintenance.

The negative was that the group sleeping in the downstairs "casita" (part of the house but separate entrance) could hear EVERYTHING happening in the main house. This was a serious problem in terms of sleeping. Normal footsteps on the main floor sounded like a jumping giant. Perhaps this wouldn't be an issue for people who are heavy sleepers or if everyone in the group goes to bed at the same time.

Wonderful family stay in Mission Bay!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this great house for 4 nights for an extended family rendezvous that included 5 adults and 3 boys between 5 and 7. It worked out perfectly, as the "kids room" has a bunk bed and a twin, so the cousins were able to have a slumber party, while the adults each had their own room. The house was basically exactly as the pictures look. We had a great experience with the property and would definitely stay here again. Our favorite parts included:

- a nice big kitchen and open floor plan so we could cook and socialize and snack and drink wine on the deck right outside the door

- the backyard has a great swingset/jungle gym as well as a little play house. it's fenced in and a great space for kids to run around and play without me worrying about them!

- the washer/dryer ended up coming in handy

- location worked easily for going to sea world, airport, etc. there was a great grocery store close by

- kerry was awesome! my parents got there first and she got them all oriented, pointed them to the store, was super responsive by email to make sure we had what we needed

Two items to mention that I remember wondering about myself so in case you have same questions!

- the house does NOT have air conditioning. For us in mid june this was just fine. there was a closet full of fans (enough for every bedroom) and it's cool enough at night that honestly I preferred the fresh air so it worked out great (and the neighborhood is quiet so that wasn't an issue).

- the main floor you enter on has most everything (3 of the bedrooms, the living room, kitchen, dining) and then a great deck at that level that overlooks the backyard. then there is a "mother in law suite" downstairs with a separate entrance that is basically a 1 bedroom apt. The house is on a hill that slopes from front to back. My aging parents don't deal with stairs very well, so i was kind of imagining they would stay upstairs and probably jsut hang out on the deck rather than come down to the yard, but we were pleasantly surprised to discover that there is a ramp that goes down the side of the house ! mom can handle a slight hill better than a flight of stairs, so as it turned out, it was easy enough for her to just go out the front door and around the side of the house to enjoy the great shaded patio and watch the kids play. worked out even better than I thought it would when we chose it!

Happy Travels!

Roomy, Convenient, and Comfortable.

  • 4 of 5

We were in town with friends and family for grandson's high school graduation and were very pleased with the accommodations. Kerri gave us our privacy but was very responsive to any questions. The back yard was perfect for a catered celebration of 25 to 30 people and we topped the evening off viewing the SeaWorld fireworks from the deck.

Owner's Response: So glad you had a great stay and the graduation celebration was a success! Nothing like the SeaWorld fireworks display for a grand finale! We appreciate the kind words and hope to host you again in the future! Sincerely, Kerri

Pleasant but not great

  • 3 of 5

Overall we had a pleasant enough stay at the house. On the positive side, at the last minute we were allowed to check-in a little earlier and check-out a little later. It was relatively toddler friendly with pack n plays, high chairs, and a play area in the backyard. On the negative side, we felt the house was very expensive for what we got. The kitchen supplies need a lot of updating and are missing various staples one would expect. If you enjoy cooking while renting a house on vacation this place would be a disappointment. There were no bath products (i.e. shampoo, soap, etc) available which we have experienced to be standard in other rentals. So we had to go out and buy our own (which we kindly left for the next guests). And, finally, though we were emphatically told and there were signs in the house about quiet hours from 10pm-8am, the first night we had to endure several hours of a dog barking next door. And the second night included VERY loud music from the house next door from around 11pm onwards.

Owner's Response: Monique, Thank you for taking the time to submit a review and we're glad that you had a pleasant stay! That said, any review shy of 5 stars is not what we aim for! We want all of our guests to have an excellent experience and strive to address any issues as they arise. In regards to the cost of the home, we and hundreds of our previous guests, have found it to be an excellent value. A summer time stay in a beautiful home, with water views, sleeping up to 15 persons at our rate is very difficult to duplicate in San Diego ( or anywhere). We do provide hand soap in the bathrooms and dish soap and dish detergent in the kitchen, as well as laundry soap. There is also a small bag of sample size shampoos and body wash in the master bath vanity for our guests that perhaps you missed. In regards to the kitchen supplies, I would love to know what items you feel are missing as we would be happy to include/ replace them. A well stocked kitchen is definitely part of what we would like to provide. I regret that you had a noise complaint and chose not contact me during your visit. Had I been informed of it, I potentially could have solved the problem immediately. The neighborhood is generally quiet and family friendly. A phone call or two would have likely resolved it then and there. Noise is generally not an issue in the area.(which is why we encourage our guests to be courteous in this regard). We are a hands on, family managed property and encourage all of our guests to contact us right away with any questions or concerns. We thank you again for staying with us and are glad your overall experience was a good one! Sincerely, Kerri
