We are a couple of good friends who purchased the cabin to enjoy our winters skiing and snowboarding at kirkwood mountain resort. Over the years, we've discovered many great summer activities as well, such as wine tasting, hiking, kayaking and rock climbing in the area.
The Owner purchased this cabin in 2004
The cabin is a real getaway from city life. Set in a beautiful sugar pine and cedar forest, it's very peaceful. We enjoy the wilderness setting and its vicinity to outdoor activities.
hot tubing under the stars is a real treat!
We had a lovely autumn visit to the foothills, such a great time to go. The cabin is in an ideal location, halfway up the pass, making it easy to go down to trek along Hwy 49 to historic sites or wineries, or up for more rustic endeavors in the El Dorado Forest, Silver Lake or Kirkwood during ski season. The "cabin" has generous space (huge!) and privacy from neighbors. My son enjoyed playing trucks in the dirt and riding his scooter in the driveway. Inside was spacious as well with comfy sofas and beds to accommodate many. We definitely recommend this place!
I stayed here with family for a few days and the house was perfect for what we needed. Everything was clean and ready for us. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed.
We used the hot tub on the deck, which was very relaxing. The grill worked great to make our dinner. The location was great, close enough drive to go fishing. My family truly enjoyed ourselves and would love to make this an annual trip.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 days at this awesome cabin. Beds were all comfortable, kitchen was large and allowed all 4 adults to be in there while prepping food. Hot tub was by far the most enjoyable. Loved going in each morning and evening. It's backdrop is the lovely big trees/woods. It's private enough.
The kids loved the location, and had a blast. They road scooters on the huge driveway area and played is the yard. We had two families and it was spacious for all of us. I highly recommend this cabin, it was wonderful and affordable.
Though there wasn't snow, we only drove about an hour (toward Tahoe) and played in the snow on Carson Pass. Iron Mountain typically would have snow, but didn't this visit. We also enjoyed an hour ride to Old Columbia and had fun there during the day.
Pioneer is a great place, we look forward to another trip.
My trip was exactly what I wanted. The cabin rental was a big factor; dog friendly, snow play, hot tub, home cooking, good sleep. Thank you for sharing your space and making it easy. The home is well equipped and organized. I've always liked driving up highway 88. It was nice to stop for a while. I enjoyed the lakes; Bear River Res., pristine snow stomping at Silver lake, Caples lake frozen... nature at her finest.
