Why the Owner Chose Boone: We've always enjoyed the mountains of NC and wanted a second home where we could get away, relax and spend quality time with our children, their friends, as well as with our friends. We bought this beautiful home in 2008 after we fell in love with the magnificent view. Because it is our second home, it has all the amenities of home with a feeling of casual comfort and warmth. We know if you stay here, you will feel like welcome guests and will want to come back again and again.
My husband and I decided to spend a few days driving and exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway on a cool rainy week after leaving Florida. After 2 full days of driving north arriving at Highridge House was certainly the most perfect, wonderful place to relax and unwind before continuing our journey home to northern Michigan.
The cabin is clean and beautifully furnished with large roomy bedrooms, living room, kitchen, and dining nook. The open floor plan is roomy enough for several guests to be comfortable and cozy. The kitchen is very well-equipped kitchen, no problems with internet connection or Direct TV. You can certainly tell that the owners have good taste. We enjoyed the cabin so much that we actually skipped the rest of our Parkway tour and just stayed at the cabin to soak up the beautiful views.
The driveway can be a bit intimidating the first time, but it's safe. However, you might want to arrive in daylight the first time. After that well, it’s kind of fun.
We enjoyed Boone, the people we so friendly and willing to give recommendations and directions for places to enjoy lunch and dinner. Since we were only staying a short time we enjoyed most of our meals out. We particularly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at Boondocks in West Jefferson, just a short drive from the cabin. Our waitress Ashley was outstanding, and the food was very fresh, well prepared and so very delicious.
All in all, Highridge House was fabulous place to visit. We're hoping to make it a regular stop on our journey between Michigan and Florida.
I would like to once again thank the owner John and his wonderful housekeeper Terry for helping to coordinate, package and return my garment bag we left hanging in the garage. Your effort and kindness is greatly appreciated.
My family spent several days during the holiday season at this beautiful cabin. There were 6 adults and a dog , and we had plenty of room. The kitchen was very well equipped and we cooked great meals every night. This house is so tastefully decorated. We felt very comfortable and right at home on top of the mountain. We loved how quiet it was and enjoyed taking some hikes right from the front door. The location allows you to get to trailheads easily and to explore Boone and Blowing Rock. The owner, John, was very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed to have a great holiday in the mountains, including even a tree stand and lights! Thanks John for sharing your beautiful cabin with us. We'll be back!
We had a wonderful weekend stay! Everything was exactly as described, and the house was well stocked with everything we could need. Very well labeled with clear instructions on how to use fireplace, appliances, etc. Every effort was made to make our stay as easy and enjoyable as possible. John was wonderful to work with and genuinely cared that we had a good experience. We look forward to staying at Highridge House again the next time we go to Boone. We would highly recommend this property!
We had a wonderful trip. The cabin accommodations are very nice, kitchen is stocked with any utensil needed and the owners provide a wonderful collection of tea to enjoy the view on a cold winter day.
When we vacation, my husband and I and our friends enjoy staying in a vacation home instead of a hotel. We chose Highridge House for the beautiful view from the mountain top. The view is indeed breath-taking, but we were completely delighted at how well-equipped this home is. It had the finest of everything! From the beds to the kitchen equipment, this is the best home we've ever rented! You absolutely need a four-wheel drive vehicle to get up the driveway, but it is SO worth it. The owners were very nice and friendly to deal with also. We enjoyed our week there very much and hope to return again soon!
