The cottage is located on a secluded 3-acre lot with a pond, woods, campfire pit and plenty of space to roam. The cottage is well-equipped, clean, and cozy. Wifi and plenty of board games, puzzles, books and kid videos for down time together.

Take a short walk to two public Lake Michigan beaches; or a 2 mile walk or drive to Grand Mere State Park, where you will find great hiking, cross-country skiing, and huge, clean, beautiful beaches. Or enjoy the local wineries and antique shops.

Why Jenifer Cartland chose Southwest Michigan

In Kindergarten, we were asked to draw a picture of our favorite places in the world. I drew the swing set at my grandparents' cottage in northern Michigan. I still have that picture. Whenever we are at our little cottage in Stevensville, I am transported right back there to my grandparents' cottage . . . and only 90 miles from home.

What makes this cottage unique

We love hiking at Grand Mere all year round. In the winter, the sledding is fantastic. In the summer, the beaches are so clean and beautiful (and never crowded).

A cute and tidy cottage well equipped.

  • 4 of 5

Quiet area private with large yard. Everything you need is in the home. Lights are well placed for reading and there are excellent coffee making options. The dishes are actually matching and colorful.

My only suggestion would be air conditioning in bedrooms would make this a return rental for me.

Quaint little place

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time and plenty of space in this cute little cottage. However, when we arrived it seemed as though no one came in after the previous renters left. The bathroom garbage was not emptied and there were no kitchen garbage bags stocked. There were was a load of wet towels in the wash machine and the beds were not made. Overall, it was a great place. The firepit was a nice feature and very close to the lake!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your nice comments. We love spending time there but when we can't we are happy that our guests can enjoy it. We are also very embarrassed by the conditions when you arrived. We are working with our caretaker to make sure this doesn't happen again and we appreciate you letting us know.

Cozy and charming, needs a few updates

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed the location. The property is secluded and has a nice yard and space for kids to play. My kids loved the swing set and we really enjoyed the fire pit. The cottage could use a good update and cleaning. It was a little hot in the bedrooms. Overall great experience though.

Perfect for families!

  • 5 of 5

Great location, amenities, and property! Quaint and rustic--comfortable for me, my husband and our 3 boys (6,4,2). Small AC unit and TV did the trick! Extremely private yet easy to access. Nothing fancy, which is exactly what we wanted for beach day trips, naps and cook outs!
