I am giving this property 3 stars based on our overall experience there, which was a really nice family get-together in a commodious house in a great location on the Sea of Cortez.
The "but" refers to a few pretty essential things: we arrived to a cold house, which we warmed up fairly quickly once we figured out the heating system -- 3 thermostats to set, not too hard to figure out but not self evident either (you need to hold down some of the buttons for a few seconds to get them to respond, and an instruction telling us this would have been nice), likewise it would have been nice to know that the oven needs the lighter to get it going unlike the stove top. The real challenge for us at first was getting hot water, because the hot water heater pilot light was out and once it was lit by Jaime, an extremely nice responsive maintenance man, it still didn't heat up the water -- turns out the gas supply was almost out and the heating mechanism itself wasn't working; Jaime came a second time to fix that and we had hot water in a day or 2. Then on the 5th (of 7) days we ran out of water all together when the big tank ran out and the small above ground tank drained into it -- the water pump needed to be tweaked which required a couple more visits from Jaime. We had the water back within 6 hours during which the 10 of us had an interesting conversation about what to do if we continued without water: go to a hotel, or make do much as we would if backpacking! i.e. there were the wimps v. the stoics and in the end we didn't need to make any decisions. The other somewhat disappointing thing (tho not a deal-breaker if we'd known about it in advance) was the big inviting spa bathtub in the master bath didn't work because the pump for it was broken. And TV set #3 was not there which didn't matter at all, but you could tell the house was suffering from some deferred maintenance. Jaime also got one of the TV remotes working again after I'd changed the batteries and it still didn't work (he dug out some corrosion with a knife) -- again, it really didn't matter because the main TV in the living room worked fine, but you do have to feel comfortable with lots of remotes and changing connectors from Direct TV to DVD player and back. TV instructions would be helpful for some. Last I would personally have liked some sort of way to play music in the house that everyone can hear -- a CD player with speakers? Bring your own sound system if you want music
The place is big, comfortable and nice. It's right on the water and beautiful.
Owner is super helpful and responsive. Friendly guy with someone looking over the place nearby.
Gets a bit windy (especially at night) so prepare for that. (At least in the winter). It's got somewhat limited water and keeping it hot wasn't always easy, but it was OK. Slightly hard to find, but with a GPS you're all good.
Overall a really nice place to hang out!
The house is very clean and in great condition. The beach is private and clean. No drifters walking around bothering you. We had a relaxing stay. Definitely looking forward to doing it again even better. The property manager on site resolved the Directv issue we had promptly,
Four couples shared this beautiful home. Everything your dream vacation should be. Beautifully appointed, right on the beach. Each bedroom had it's own patio and the kitchen was fabulous. Lots of great restaurants in San Felipe, The beach was perfect and we had it to ourselves most of the time. The guys went fishing and we had fresh Corvina for dinner. The on sight manager, Ruth Flinn was so helpful....a truly delightful person who answered any questions we had about the area or the house. We are definitely going back!!!!
The House was Super clean, organized, and equipped. We loved staying there. We had all the comforts Of home in a Beach house. House is distanced enought where The neighbors music will not bother you. It is On The Beach. Our family had a Great time we definately recomend everyone to stay here.
You will not have any trouble filling your days with activities or just relax around the house or on the beach. Your worries and stress melt from the moment you arrive. If you have quads or motorcycles bring them along, you can ride them right on the beach outside the front door. If you have a small boat or jet ski, it can be launched in front of the house to go fishing, sailing, kite surfing, wake boarding or water skiing. You can rent a boat at the marina and rent quads in town. The shelling and fishing from the beach are spectacular. There are plenty of great restaurants and shopping in town. We have referrals for all of your needs no matter what they may be.
