My husband and I found the perfect spot for a quiet place to unwind from our busy family and work lives back home. The villa is part of a complex of villas at the end of Cayman Kai, a spit of land off of Rum Point, along a neighborhood road of private homes. All of the villas are free standing (not attached to the others) and Unit 1 was 30 steps from door to water's edge! The interior was attractive, bright, updated, and clean. We thoroughly enjoyed the indoor/outdoor feel with the large retracting glass doors both upstairs and down. We ate all of our meals on the screened in porch, made use of the two island bikes provided to poke around the neighborhood, used one of the two kayaks to explore the shoreline, and enjoyed having our own laundry facilities. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen well stocked, and we had plenty of space for our belongings. The beach was tidy and had plenty of beach furniture. We stayed the week before Thanksgiving and saw very few people during our stay. The owner was easy to work with answered all of our questions. The key was onsite in a lock box which made our arrival effortless.
We loved being down the street from Star Fish Point, which at best guess seems to be a bit of land once in the beginning stages of development, but long since left for people to wander along and enjoy the red starfish dotting the shallow waters. We also loved the setting of Kaibo, also just across the street from the other end of the villa complex. Kaibo (along with condos) is a two-part restaurant. Downstairs you can sit at picnic tables on the beach and order from a relaxed menu or sit at the open air bar under the upstairs overhang. Upstairs, enjoy a beautifully appointed fine dining restaurant that was our favorite meal during our stay. We also biked to Rum Point (5 minute bike ride), which has a small public beach feel with a collection of buildings housing a water sports shop, a bar/beach restaurant, a fine dining restaurant, and gift shop. Again, picnic tables in the sand, hammocks, beach chairs, beach volleyball, and a swim area. Trips to Stingray City can be booked and taken from the dock here.
If you are looking for a very quiet spot to unwind without a lot of tourist action, this is a perfect spot. Do keep in mind that the nearest full grocery store is 35 minutes away, the airport is 45 minutes away, and most of the "activity" is along 7 mile beach 45+ minutes away. A car was a must for us. We loved this spot!
We have travelled the Caribbean to many places including 5 times on CAYMAN. WE love 7 mile, and would recommend CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS condos. BUT.... the 3 BIRDS is on a perfect, white sand, tranquil bay -- perfect for swimming. And walking distance to the best restaurant on the island KAIBO. AND,,, close to RUM POINT and the great snorkeling there. Now the drive there is 45 minutes... so not as close as 7 mile. BUT, what you get for the money is an AMAZING 2 BEDROOM house.. with everything you could possibly want. We have rented homes on ST JOHN, big expensive ones, and stayed in top CONDOS all over --- but NEVER have we had a house stocked like this one with everything from towels to hot sauce. The place is very well kept -- extremely comfortable beds which you dont find many places. Kitchen as I said is perfect. Great front porch right on the sand. We will be looking to go back ASAP...
Our one week stay at Three Little Birds was absolutely spectacular. The house was clean, inviting, and cozy. The kitchen was well stocked for visitors wanting to prepare meals (seasonings included), excluding groceries, which the owner offered suggestions of the best places to buy. The owner also provided detailed driving instructions prior to our arrival, and was very responsive to our needs. This trip was our fourth to Cayman Islands, and our first to stay in a private home. Our choice to stay at Three Little Birds could not have been better. The beach area was exceptionally clean, with plenty of wildlife to capture your attention. An early morning walk along the shoreline will reward you with sightings of crabs, stingrays, fish, and conch. Kaibo Restaurant, which was walking distance away, was an excellent location for dinner and evening cocktails. Rum Point is slightly further but still walking distance for those wishing to stroll the neighborhood. There you can also find exceptional beach access, food, drinks, and shops. This was by far the most relaxing vacation I have experienced in a long time, and Three Little Bird played a major part. We will return to Three Little Birds soon.
David's unit was well done & great for 2 couples, although it was just the 2 of us. It was the cleanest, best appointed, & lovely place we have stayed in while in Grand Cayman.
We would highly recommend it.
We stayed at Three Little Birds and it was perfect for us. Away from the crowds, a little piece of heaven, with privacy and amazing marine life twenty feet away! This was our honeymoon and we just loved how peaceful this area was. It is a beach house in the corner of the complex composed by other beach houses. Three Little Birds has an empty lot on one side, so total privacy! Not sure if they will build something soon there, but I am sure someone will. Such a gorgeous area! We had a car and moved around as we pleased. Kaibo restaurant is a five minute walk and has great beach atmosphere without being bombarded by tourists. We stayed during July, a low season, so that was our experience during this time. Star Fish point is a 10 minute walk and it is a pristine and incredible white sand beach corner! The water is amazingly clear, with sandy bottom where you can sea the starfish AND stingrays all together! It is a great place for snorkling. We used the beach house kayak and that was super fun. Thank you so much for making our honeymoon an amazing experience!!!
We spent a fantastic week at Three Little Birds' . It is hard to explain the beauty and tranquility of the villa but we’ll do our best.
The location is incredible. The villa faces the northwest, so you are perfectly situated to catch the incredible sunsets. The beach is approximately 20 meters from the front door. The villa is a very well appointed, recently renovated, spotlessly clean, and has two spacious bedrooms. It has a large screened in lanai which is great for outdoor dining. (You will not want to spend any time indoors because the surroundings are too beautiful. The sound of the surf and wind blowing through the trees is very relaxing.) The water is the most incredible colour of turquoise and the sand is the colour of flour. The beach is suitable for children because the surf is very calm and the water is shallow. Another nice feature is that you can walk the beach for miles. If you walk west along the beach you come to “Starfish” point which is worth the effort!
Dining / Food: The villa is a 2 minute walk from Kaibo. Kaibo offers casual beachside dining and a more formal evening option at Kaibo Upstairs. The villa is a 20 minute walk from Rum Point which offers another causal, beach dining spot. In our experience the food at the Kaibo beach bar was better than Rum Point. A lot of tours come and go from Rum Point, so it is a good place to visit for a cocktail but we preferred Kaibo for food. We would highly recommend Kaibo Upstairs. The food and service were incredible, the “Seafood” a dish of scallops, shrimp and various types of fish in a red curry broth was delicious.
Groceries: There are two large groceries stores about 40 minutes from the villa. Both stores carry everything you will need for at home dining, toiletries, etc. Foster’s has a great selection of prepared foods (i.e. chicken cordon bleu, salads, fish) which we found useful for easy at home meal preparation on vacation. Next door to Foster’s is a wine and beer store which has a great selection.
We will definitely be back to Three Little Birds'. The owners have provided a kayak, tennis racquets and everything you can think of in the kitchen. We spent a fantastic week in the sun with friends and would highly recommend the villa.
Excellent for fishing, including fly fishing and deep sea fishing
