Perfectly located heights Victorian with views of Dering Harbor. Charming Carpenter Gothic beach cottage: 3 bedroom/ 2.5 bathroom. Lovely back yard and giant porch with water views. Access to private beach club-5 minute walk, 5 minute walk to neighborhood tennis courts, cafes, restaurants, wine shop, toy store. We have plenty of bicycles for your use, our favorite way to see the Island. We are a 5 minute walk to the North Ferry, so it has easy access to the North Fork and all that it has to offer.
I'm a native californian who has lived in new york for close to 20 years. I fell in love with shelter island the minute I arrived there many years ago and we are happy to share our home. It's a very special place.
Annie purchased this house in 2013
private beach club and tennis courts walkable
We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Victorian house in Shelter Island for a wedding in September. After a brief orientation we settled in, choosing bedrooms and spreading out .The house is absolutely charming and right across from the street is the water. The house is spacious indoor as well as outdoors. The beds were very comfortable. The layout of the house was very accommodating for different activities such as watching TV, reading, playing games etc. The Kitchen was very functional and spacious. The house also has s wonderful porch to enjoy the scenery while having coffee. It also has a huge backyard with a patio and grill. It’s an excellent place for families with children because of the fenced in property. There is parking for approximately 5 vehicles. There are some restaurants within walking distance and it’s a wonderful place to go for walks. Convenient to everything we wanted to see and do-including walking distance to the ferry, which made for an easy day trip to Greenpoint, NY and venture out to more restaurants, antique shops, wineries etc. The Wineries were absolutely wonderful! Wifi service was excellent. We would definitely stay here again. THANK YOU!
The house was perfectly located for the festivities surrounding the wedding we were attending. The sleeping arrangements were a little tight for us because we were all adults; but it would be very well suited for a family with children. The accommodations were comfortable and the house is well-appointed. Overall, it was perfect for what we needed this weekend. I'm sure it would be a perfect location for summer vacation--with obviously excellent access to the ferry.
This was our second time staying at Annie's beautiful home on Shelter Island. Each time we've stayed there, it's felt like our home away from home. The house is in a great location, walking distance to the charming cafes and shops of the Heights, the private beach club (which is great for kids), and the ferry. The bedrooms are light-filled, brightly decorated and comfortable. The two full bathrooms are clean and large. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor space to lounge. Our favorite spot was on the porch facing Dering Harbor. The owner is very responsive to inquiries and provided great recommendations for stuff to do on the island. We can't wait to come back.
Lovely views of the harbor and very close to restaurants, cafes and shops -
A great house and it was very comfortable for our 'girlfriends' weekend, we were five women who enjoyed relaxing on the front porch chatting with a glass of wine -
We did cook one meal and it was great to have access to fresh herbs and tomatoes from the garden in the yard - The caretaker, Tom, even brought us peppers from his own garden that were delicious - Thank you Tom!
This is a 5-star property but I gave it a 4-star rating only because of the constant traffic in front of the house going to the ferry - We were there in October so it was considerably less than it must be in the summer months - Even after saying that,
I would definitely stay there again!
(One suggestion would be to have a full length mirror somewhere in the bedroom area)
We were very impressed with the house. It was just perfect for my family's stay. We were on the island for my nephew's wedding. It was in walking distance to the shops and restaurants and the harbor. If we return to Shelter Island, we would stay here again.
We stayed here with a group of friends and family to relax before my sister's wedding. From the outside, it looks like a historical Victorian home, but from the inside everything is completely up to date and decorated tastefully, even a bit trendy. There are plenty of areas to lounge, but we spent most of our time on the front porch facing the water and doing a little people watching. One of the best features of the house is the location. You can walk to the beach, restaurants, the North ferry, etc. I would stay here again next summer.
