Lovely

  • 5 of 5

Nice apartment- great location, great art! This place felt like home. We were five people and were very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and check in was very easy. We had a car, and parking was easy in the parking garage that was very close by.

I highly recommend this apartment; especially, if you are looking for comfortable beds, a nice view, and interesting art!

Wonderful apartment in Reykjavik!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was in a perfect location -- walking distance to everything in the city center we needed. The parking situation worked very well with Burkni's guidance. The apartment had everything we needed. We ate in for a few meals and the kitchen was well stocked. There was plenty of space for five adults. Some of the past reviews commented on the apartment being noisy. We did not find this to be true at all. Getting in and departing were both very easy. Also, Burkni created a very helpful manual that was full of useful information about the apartment and Reykjavik in general. We had a wonderful time and would certainly stay here again as well as recommend this apartment to others.

Great apartment

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is completely as described. The best thing about the apartment is it location down town in the older section. We could walk to many of the attractions. We had a bus stop less than a block away and that made it easy to take excursion of the town and area. Burkni was great to work with in getting things set up for us. We would highly recommend this as a great place to stay while exploring Iceland.

Clean, well appointed apartment with a great location.

  • 5 of 5

Just got back yesterday from four nights at Burkni's apartment. The location is hard to beat as it is right around the corner from the main shopping and dining area, and a very close walk to the harbor. The kitchen has everything you'll need, beds are comfortable, and parking is easy. We used the pay garage just once; otherwise we always found a meter. Reykjavik is a party city on the weekends, and although you can hear the singing in the streets, it never kept us awake. Right across the street is the Culture House, and we discovered a great cafe (Julia and Julia) there on our last morning. Try the skyr with fresh blueberries- so good. Reykjavik is a fun city, and the rest of Iceland is starkly beautiful. Highlights included the Wake Up Reykjavik Food Tour, the Glacier Lagoon (a 4.5 hour drive), South Coast, and the Snaefellnes (sp?) Pennisula.

5 stars for a couple or singles, 3.5 stars for a family

  • 4 of 5

As others have said, the apartment is right next to the Main Street which makes going out very convenient...but.. it's right in party central. More on that in a minute.

The positives. The apartment is very cute, lots of funky art and has just about everything you need. The restaurant below has amazing breakfast smells that filter in the door, and has space for a family. On to the negative which may be a positive if you trying to party.

On Friday and Saturday night we had large groups of drunk people camped out and screaming in front of the bedroom. The main floor bedroom connects to the street, and we did not get any sleep on Friday or Saturday. Our kids were fine upstairs but just a fair warning you will hear car horns, and conversations in the main floor bedroom. I'm not talking about a few disturbances, this is full on partying till 6am, literally all night on the party nights. If that doesn't bother you then book this place immediately. One nitpick is for the owner to get better window coverings for the sunlights, the black out covering kept falling down upstairs and shining light in throughout the night.

Recommendations: park at the garage across from the house below the Mexican restaurant. It's all day parking, but pricey. Also prepare for the food and drink cost. I was warned but I was not expecting it to cost more than Hawaii. Iceland charges for everything, tartar sauce for fried fish was 4.00 usd. Buy food at bonus down the street and try to do a few meals in the house..25.00 usd for mixed drink, 12.00 for a single taco, 5.00 for a can of soda, 25.00 for a hamburger are a few examples.

We liked the ice cream place on the way to the church, they also have crepes. Sandholt was a good reasonable bakery. The soup place with the bread bowls was good. We did an anniversary dinner at Kopar and it was our best dinner.

Thanks.

Owner's Response: You are correct the apartment is located in the central but its not a party central, its just downtown Reykjavik and my apartment is the closest you can get to it. It's a top location, actually unbeatable! In the weekend you can expect people to be downtown partying (it's just Reykjavik), but the weekend you stayed was extra special as it was graduation day for the universities in Iceland so there was a lot of people downtown celebrating, much more then in a normal weekend. Regarding the window blinds, you should just have contacted me and I would have been over to the apartment in 30 minutes and fixed the problem. My guests have always contacted me if they have had any questions/issues and I have always helped them and fixed things if that has been necessary. I'm sorry that I have to answer this in a review, instead of you just contacting me at the time of the problem. Regarding parking: You can also park in the street where there are parking meters, they are free between 6 p.m. and 9 a.m.. That often suits my guests as they are usually traveling by day and in town at night. Kind regards, Burkni
