About Angella Dykstra

We are locals, who took up skiing three years ago to have something to do together as a family. Our kids are better skiers than we are, because they have no fear. We bought the cabin to have a place to escape to all year 'round, and we've spent the summer hiking and fishing and exploring.

Angella Dykstra purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Angella Dykstra chose British Columbia

When we saw this cabin for sale, we knew it was meant for us. It is the perfect size for our family of five, and we can easily have another family stay with us. We also love that we can bring our dogs, which would likely be restricted in a strata environment. We love, too, that it came fully equipped to rent out -- with our own added touches -- in the times that we can't make it up to the hill to use it ourselves.

What makes this cabin unique

We always wanted a log home, and ended up turning our seventies special house into a craftsman-style renovation. We love the logs in the cabin, the front deck with the view, and the ability to get away from the every day and hunker down next to the wood stove while reading a book or watching a movie.

Perfect holiday cabin

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Lion's Den for 10 days over Christmas and loved every minute. There were 4 of us (two couples) and the cabin was perfect. The hot tub was my favourite feature followed closely by the log fire. We had some really cold days but the cabin is cozy and the fire provides more than enough heat. The owners have provided every amenity that you could wish for and the cabin is really well set up.

The location is great as is very close to the upper car park. We parked there, missed the crowds in the main car park and skied down to the village each morning to get on the lifts. It's a comfortable walk from the cabin to the village if you are feeling like some fresh air.

The owners were really nice to deal with from when we made the first booking right through to the end of our stay. Can't thank them enough for sharing their little piece of paradise.

Perfect cabin

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the Lion's Den with a non-profit group for our executive planning retreat. We slept 7 adults in the cabin and it was cozy but worked out great. Nice to have three bathrooms. There is a big TV that we were able to hook up to a laptop instead of bringing a projector for the business plan we were putting together. I know this is not needed in every case but was very helpful for us. The owner was very easy to work with and got back to me within a day. The wood stove is lovely and warms everything up really nicely, and there is lots of fire wood stocked outside. The hot tub is nice and big and was a wonderful way to unwind. Needless to say as it's at a ski hill, the surroundings are serene and beautiful. All in all, highly recommended for a group or a family retreat.
