FIVE-STAR HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS WITH PHOTOGRAPHER'S DREAM VIEW
Just five minutes from the Mukilteo-Clinton ferry dock, the gateway to Whidbey Island, this newly built and decorated 1150 square foot apartment provides comfort, quiet and access to the unique experiences associated with island living. Perfect for honeymooners, a weekend getaway for two, family overflow for weddings, or a family or friends reunion. The apartment includes two bedrooms, full bath, full kitchen, living room, reading/tv room and a fire-pit/picnic table in the garden overlooking the Puget Sound, the Cascade Mountains and the distant city lights of Everett and Mukilteo.
What to do on Whidbey Island…plan to explore all 55 miles of Whidbey Island. There is plenty to do between Possession Point and Deception Pass. Grab your bikes, kayaks, Scuba tanks, running shoes or horses and head for the great outdoors. Miles of hiking trails and shorelines make for great nature watching – eagles and whales are spotted often. Wineries, u-pick berry farms, and farmer’s markets add interest to a sunny day.
Distant City Lights is owned and managed by Donna and Maury Hood who have lived on Whidbey Island for ten years. Maury, an architectural engineer and builder, designed and built the apartment in 2011. Donna works for the South Whidbey Chamber and is extremely knowledgeable about what visitors can do to maximize their fun on Whidbey Island.
The Owner purchased this apartment in 2001
We made this our home ten years ago in order to get away from the hustle and bustle of the work-a-day world and to immerse ourselves in one of the most beautulf places on the planet . This rental is near the ferry which makes daytripping into Seattle very accessible.
This location is also only a short scenic drive from Langley, a picturesque and historic seaside village that includes a glass blowing experience, unique shops, a marina, an old-time movie theater, live theater at its best and many fine dining experiences at a variety of establishments. Whidbey Island also provides some very spiritual experiences and a chance to connect with artists of all mediums in a setting where the ever-changing mix of light and water make for a photographer's dream. Picnics beside the sea and in the many well-maintained parks add to the outdoor fun.
Distance City Lights Vacation Rental is a newly painted, beautifully decorated spacious apartment. Guests will enjoy the privacy of separate sleeping areas and the ability to prepare complete meals followed by s'mores over the fire-pit in the garden. They will wake to the incredible sunrises which light the Cascade Mountain Range and the waters of Puget Sound. Except for the chirping birds and buzzing bees in the property gardens, the quiet is deafening.
We stayed at Distant City Lights for a quick getaway as a couple, and we were very sad to leave! Donna gave us a few great suggestions for activities in the area and we loved getting a taste of the island life! It was just a short drive and a ferry ride out of the city, but it felt like we were a world away. Can't wait to go back!
Our family had the best time staying at Distant City Lights. This was our first experience using VRBO and we didn't know exactly what to expect! Our expectations were surpassed on every level. Donna (wish her southern charm) and Maury, were so generous with their time and their beautiful home. We loved roasting marshmallows at sunset over the firepit (with it's breathtaking views of the Sound.) We observed several bald eagles from about 100 yards away. Our little girls loved feeding the fish with Maury in the morning. The apartment is clean and beautiful (and actually understated in the description.) I can't think of one thing that could have made our trip more fun or memorable! We didn't want to leave and we would have stayed if it hadn't already been booked! THANK YOU Maury and Donna! We hope to come back as soon as possible!
My husband and I spent a week in this well-run, spacious apartment. We found it very comfortable and equipped with everything you could think of. We were able to cook and entertain easily. Maury and Donna were very good hosts. It was also a very good value and close to everything on the island that we needed.
Two of us spent two nights in this beautiful and spacious apartment. We could not have asked for a better place! The window and patio views of the sound and the mountains are incredible; at night, the distant city lights and their water reflections are magical. This was an extremely quiet, relaxing and comfortable place to stay. All amenities you could possibly want are included. We cooked meals easily in the well-stocked kitchen (food was available at a market around the corner.) Maury and Donna are gracious and friendly hosts; they are there when you need them--and not when you don't. Their personal gardens are incredible; they make the entire apartment both lovely and private. The drive from the ferry is quick and simple. A restaurant, market and gas station are quite close by, and Langley is only about a 15 minute drive away. I have been telling everyone about this charming abode. Our only complaint was that we had to leave! We certainly plan to return.
Winter on Whidbey, we have to say this was such a great rip to Whidbey, not the summer crowds, easy to get around and the apartment, perfect, there was not a detail overlooked, what a way to travel.
Our hosts were simply the best, always there to answer questions, Whidbey has such friendly folks.
Can't wait till our summer trip to the Island, I know it will be such fun.
Of course, the views are over the top. Just to sip your morning coffee and gaze at the magnificent Cascades, you felt in paradise. The Sound right at your door. I can never get enough of the sights. Just a bit to the north Mt. Baker and the south brings you to Mt. Rainer. Go to the west a bit and the Olympic Mountain range is there. There is really no place like Whidbey Island and no better place we would like to stay for our vacation. Thank you.
Very nice, large apartment and the view was fantastic even in January. If you need a place to stay on Whidbey Island, this is the place. Next time we visit the island, we'll definitely be checking availability here first.
