Mostly we will leave you to enjoy the peace and privacy we love about this property. We live in Asheville and can assist you by email, phone or in person, if needed. Welcome to the Appalachian mountains!
Hi! We love meeting new people and trying new things- especially food and travel. We've lived in the Asheville area since our college years, and have two great kids. Western North Carolina is very community-minded and we like to get involved in helping make our wonderful place to live even better. Our family enjoys hiking the trails and cooling off in the streams in the summer, and then catching the incredible vistas on the way home.
Owner/ Property Manager purchased this house in 2002
We bought this place as our primary residence and lived here for eleven years. We loved it from the minute we saw it and still do! Big Sandymush Valley is the best preserved farming valley in the southern Appalachians. Thousands of acres of conservation lands are adjacent to the property, organic farms are abundant here.
Stardust Cottage is private and relaxing in a gorgeous natural setting.
It's modern and comfortable, with soft sheets and down comforters
You can get to Asheville for city fun, but no need to!
My family and I have enjoyed this wonderful cabin on several occasions. This month we spent our Thanksgiving holiday there! It's perfect. We had everything we needed to prepare and enjoy our meal. The beautiful setting was the perfect backdrop for Thanksgiving! Kama does a wonderful job of making the cabin welcoming and warm! I hate to say too much because I'm afraid it will book up and I will miss out on booking it….but really it's my favorite place to stay when visiting Asheville!
Stardust cottage is absolutely beautiful and a pleasure to visit. The drive was a little tricky but once we found a good route not as big of a deal as we originally thought. Kama was an accommodating host and made it her goal that we were happy! Would recommend for anyone wanting to escape from the every day and might enjoy a long relax on a hammock.
My partner and I spent a wonderful week at the Stardust Cottage last week and absolutely loved our time there. It is definitely off the beaten path and really allowed us to jut get away from all the noise It was very peaceful and secluded and allowed us to enjoy walks in the mountains as well as the fall colors. The Cottage was stocked with all the essentials and even some local coffee and honey.
My husband and I were delighted with our stay at Stardust Cottage. We wanted to escape our busy city for some country quiet and fall foliage and were very happy to find this home. The listing description is accurate, the property is clean and well-maintained, plenty of kitchen supplies and utensils available to cook a few meals. The grocery is not too far. The owners were very nice and quick to respond to our inquiries and provided detailed information about the cottage, how to get there, what to do, local favorites, etc. We enjoyed going in to Asheville for some great dining (a short 30 min ride), and visited the Biltmore Estate, drove the Blue Ridge Parkway, etc. We have recommended Stardust Cottage to family and friends and think you will enjoy some time there as well!
My husband and I stayed here for a week during our anniversary. Everything about the house is cozy and inviting, and the solitude and views are amazing. The drive back and forth to the house is also fun! I really liked not having a television, even though we wouldn't have used it anyway. It made our time together even better. We spent part of one morning drinking coffee on the porch and watching rabbits run around. Everything about this place is great. I also loved seeing the notebooks full of previous guests who wrote down little stories about their stay. I don't think we could have picked a more perfect place for us, and would love to stay again whenever we come back for another vacation! Every positive word is absolutely true, and you would be doing yourself a great disservice by passing up the opportunity to stay here.
My family and I wanted to get away, and have a peaceful and relaxing few days and this house was perfect! The sounds of nature is all we heard while sitting outside. We truly enjoyed the fire pit, and the boys loved playing in the creek. The kids loved the foosball and ping pong tables, and we actually really enjoyed there not being a T.V. in the house as it meant more quality time together. The kitchen was well stocked, and the beds were comfy. It was a wonderful weekend, and my kids are already asking when we can go back! Thanks so much!!!

Asheville is a sophisticated small city in a mountain valley in the southeastern United States. It's a very popular and well known tourist area. The city is very walkable with shops, galleries, and restaurants on every corner. Asheville is know for its foodie culture, including lots of vegetarian choices. The varied nightlife scene and many cultural activities and festivals will keep you busy if you like. The area is also known for its many artists and crafts people. Just south of downtown is the Biltmore House; the largest private residence in the USA. The house and its thousands of acres are open to the public. The Blue Ridge parkway also passes through the area. This is an incredibly scenic drive through the national forests in the area, with world class views, and many interesting stops along the way for hiking, picnicking, looking at waterfalls, or frolicking in the cool mountain streams.
Endless opportunities abound for rafting, rock climbing, and backwoods adventures if outdoors is your thing. There are two ski resorts, each about one hour from Stardust Cottage. Golf is also popular in the area. You can choose to be in the middle of the action, and then out in the middle of nowhere 15 min later!
