First the driveway was barely cleared for one car and we had two. The heater worked wonderful in the living room but not at all in the bedrooms. We froze! The fireplace was nice. The two lazy boys in the living room made us itch, don't know if it was some sort of bug or insulation. The bathrooms had black hairs all over the tubs and showers that I cleaned out before showering. Due to the poor snow clearing it melted into ice and one of our cars got stuck. When we called the office they basically said "sorry, it's against the law for us to render help". Um, bringing some salt or sand down to the cabin is not illegal it's good customer service! We had a tow truck come pull us out when kk else failed. It was not horrible, the area outside was nice and the full kitchen was wonderful. However, I would not stay at this cabin again. It was. It kept up and clean by my standards.
It is a nice simple cabin well laid out for four or five. No amenities like wifi or a dishwasher, but the dishwater and cookware pretty good. Shower presssure okay. Beds okay. Heater was awful. One heater in the living room only and it had a fan bearing going out making it so loud it was hard to sleep through when bedroom doors were open, and of course cold when doors were closed. Because there was only one heater in living room either bring a portable for the master bedroom or be prepared to use the extra comforters in the closet. I liked the cabin and love the location area in general as it gives back acces through Switzerland Rd to the snow summit parking lot
We chose Birts Nest for our family vacation in Big Bear. The property was very clean. Over all we had a good experience, except one issue with the full size bed in the 2nd bed room. The mattress was sinking in the middle and we could not use that bed. We ended up sleeping on couch and recliner.
The towel arrangement in both the bathrooms was very pleasing. Cleaning crew made head of elephant with the towels.the property has well maintained Kitchen with coffee machine and toaster.
