Excellent Apartment!

  • 5 of 5

Excellent apartment, very spacious and luxurious. Location was perfect, lots of restaurants, bars and shops close by and easy walking distance to all the sights. Furnishing is lovely, and bathroom is amazing! Only negative we could think of is we could of personally made use of a microwave or oven in the kitchen other than that the kitchen is very well equipped. As mentioned in other reviews the bar downstairs can be slightly noisy however we only noticed this on the weekends and it wasn't excessive or an inconvenience for us. We also ate at the bar and the food was excellent! Erik was very friendly and responsive and gave us all the information we needed for our stay. Will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Amsterdam! Thank You Erik

Weekend Getaway

  • 4 of 5

Great time in Amsterdam. Amazing city.

Loved the location of this apt. You can walk anywhere from this location. Decor was simple and fun. Great grocery across the street from apt. Steep flight of stairs which added to charm. Great apt. if you like to feel like a local and not a tourist.

As stated in description...can be noisy on weekends so if that might be an issue, I would look elsewhere. I agree- a bar of soap would be great to have upon arrival.

Thanks for letting us rent your place.

Good Location! Very Spacious!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here for 3 nights during part of our honeymoon. Erik was waiting for us in the cafe downstairs when we arrived. He took us straight up and showed us everything. It is just as described... very spacious, big bathroom, terrace, etc. The building tilts forward a bit (good ol' Amsterdam architecture) which is not too big of a problem. The stairs are very very steep - would not suggest this apartment for people with mobility problems. Also, the cafe downstairs is very noisy and seems to be extremely popular. It didn't affect our sleep too much, but would be an issue for light-sleepers... some nights it can stay open as late as 3:00 AM. So, just be aware of that.

I would suggest to Erik that he provide at least some hand soap in the bathroom, as there was none. We brought our own shampoo and conditioner and other toiletries, but not hand soap.

Also, there was an issue with the lights - half of them did not work. This wasn't much of an issue for us, but might be for some people as it was very dim at night. The fireplace is great, but sort of tricky to light.

Location is fabulous. This was my third time visiting Amsterdam and I was very happy with the location. There were a few grocery stores within walking distance, which was wonderful. You are literally in the thick of it it all. There is no laundry in the unit, but there is one in about 10 minutes walking distance called Powders on Kerkstraat. 13 eu gets you one load, washed, dried, and folded while you are out and about. Or you can do self service for 5,50 eu washing + 50 cents per 10 minutes drying, FYI.

Loved it. Would definitely book again.

Owner's Response: At check in I offered Allison for the handyman to pass by to fixx, most probably the transformator of, the light, but she said its no problem, so I left it for when they checked out. Ofcourse the lights are working right away again :) Normaly there is hand soap, I think it was finished. You guys are more then welcome to stay at my apartment any other time!

Fun Fun Fun

The location of this apt, in the heart of Nine Streets, is a fabulous spot to explore all of Amsterdam. The unit is very large and the bathroom is amazing! There is a nice patio in the rear and large front windows for watching the street action below. Noise was NEVER an issue for us, and we were there over the Kings Day celebration. Erik was always responsive to emails and any questions could be answered by simply going to the café below the apt. Everything is close by, including a wonderful grocery store at the end of the street that we used every day. Great spot, and I would definitely stay here again.

Romantic apartment in the Nine Streets

  • 5 of 5

A really atmospheric apartment, perfectly located for exploring the canals and all of the famous and not so famous sites. The decor and ambience of this spacious studio cannot be faulted and we spent a perfect five nights. The bar beneath is, as has been said previously, very noisy at weekends until very early in the morning, so not necessarily to everyone's taste but if you want to experience city life, then we would recommend it highly.

The living room area and outside terrace are especially lovely and thoughtfully designed and we hope to return for a summer break. The kitchen is basic and we would have liked an oven or at least a microwave but there was a Nespresso coffee machine with capsules and a good gas hob so we were not unhappy! Erik was extremely helpful from the initial enquiry to our arrival and 'settling in' He also text us with suggested restaurants in the local area. The staff in the bar were also charming. There is an excellent organic supermarket opposite which has long opening hours and great food. We had a great time here and loved it. Thank you Erik.

Owner's Response: My apartment is, like written on my profile in a vibrant neighbourhood, really downtown Amsterdam, in the heart of the famous area the 'Nine Streets'. Like all the bars we close in the weekend at 3am, Friday and Saturday. And Friday is the most popular night in the most of Amsterdam to go to a bar, downtown it is more noizy on the streets then. But thats possible till 3am. But indeed if you dont like the city life, then you will experience it as noizy. You are always welcome to have a drink downstairs :) Really happy you enjoyed your stay at my apartment and feel free to contact me to come back any time!

Wonderful apartment, wonderful neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

Erik promptly met us (he works in the cafe below, so everyone there is aware of "the tenants" and are very kind). The apartment is charming and well-equipped. The balcony is lovely no matter the weather. The huge bathroom is luxurious by American standards..even more so by what is often found overseas. Great shower head and big bathtub. The 14 or so steep stairs are straight and well worth navigating to this cool sanctuary. Noise in the street on Thursday and Friday night only made us feel young again! It sounded like a great street party and in typical Dutch style, it was cleaned up by 6am the next morning. We will definitely return as the location is central to everything in this wonderful city.
