The Longbeach Cottage was built in 1920 and lovingly restored to preserve its historic qualities, while providing the modern conveniences the savvy traveler demands.
We made sure you stay connected and entertained by providing high speed, wireless internet access, flat screen TV's and custom cable channels. The Cottage has a large fenced in backyard and a quiet, comfortable and private deck where you can read, enjoy a cup of coffee, grill out and browse the internet with your lap top or tablet.
What you'll find most compelling is the location and the wealth of amenities you can access without ever getting in your car.. Walk or bike around the perimeter of the Village to bay views, a restaurant with bay front dinning, two public docks, a boat ramp, a bay front beach, the Longboat Key Art Center and a oak canopied dirt road. Walk to the gulf and some of Florida's best beaches. The vistas, sunrises and sunsets will enchant you.
The beach and the bay are pristine and if you have a kayak or paddle board you're just minutes from the Sister Keys a restored and protected group of islands in Sarasota Bay.
The location is prime for serious fishermen and provides a great diversity of opportunities. The owner can provide you with local knowledge and information on top local guides. A public boat ramp is three blocks away.

I love the Village and consider it one of the world's most special places. That's why I've lived here for over thirty years!
Great fishing, Peace and Quiet, Beaches, bays, sunsets, sunrises, boating, eating and drinking and so much more.
Rusty & Christine,
Words cannot describe the fabulous time that we had on Longboat Key and the wonderful "Longbeach Cottage".
Thank you so very much for everything. The house was everything we dreamed of for our much needed "11" Day minication. We will be back!
My husband and I recently returned from our Spring getaway. We live in Central FL, but, need to visit the beach several times a year. We found the perfect cottage to enjoy the beach, restaurants and nearby attractions. The cottage is like your home away from home. We found the cottage to be very clean, it has every appliance you would need, a wonderful private patio, and it is located on a very quiet street in The Village of Longboat Key. This was our second visit to the "cottage" and we are looking forward to returning in the fall. Thank you Rusty and Christine for being wonderful hosts and providing us with a home away from home.
I woke up this morning in my log cabin in the middle of a forest in northern wisconsin, looked out the window and saw that even though I had overslept , it was still February, still cold, still dreary. I realized that I had made a severe mistake last year in not booking a way out of here for myself and the 2 hounds this year. I will try not to make that mistake again - I was hee in November a couple of years ago and the house still stays as a dream. Big backyard, the dogs loved chasing each other around the huge bush, and spending time just laying in the sun. (One suggestion - you misht wnt to put up a little fencing bewteen the ground and the house in the back - the dogs only took a day to figure out that they could escape by going underneath the house to bypass the fence - ,eamt to mention it at the time, luckily the street is very quiet nd no cocker spaniel/chevy exchanges occured.)
The house is great, the neighborhood is worth the price of admission. The only thing I would do differently would be to plan onhiring a maid to come in once a week so I leave the house neater. (I have lived alone for years and have been told I am mildly oblivious to my surroundings.) Mr Landlord was very nice even though I showed up a bit early - never met Mrs. Landlord but she was very nice to deal with over the phone.
If you are going to stay on Longboat Key, stay in the village. So much more relaxing. Wish the dogs could have joined me walking on the beach but they really liked the Joan Durante Park, the dog beach in Venice and riding around out by the everglades.
I hope to get back here again, I think the dogs are welcome - I hope they get to bring me.
We felt so fortunate to have discovered this gem in Longboat Village! The cottage is charming and equipped with everything needed for a relaxing and cozy week. Lots of historic details and all the modern touches needed for comfort. Kitchen had enough room for two people to fix a meal together, always a nice feature. I appreciated that the property has several different areas to spend time--a porch, an outdoor table and chairs in the private backyard in addition to the well-furnished living room. Location can't be beat, just a short walk to an amazing, almost private beach! Highly recommend this wonderful home. Thank you, Christine and Rusty!
This cottage was clean, comfortable and inviting. The bathroom was clean and maintained, the bed was clean, queen sized and comfortable. The air conditioning was welcomed for us Alberta foothills dwellers. Everything promised in the description was provided, and more. We spent many hours enjoying meals cooked in the small well appointed kitchen, and eaten on the clean, landscaped, private back patio with our friends, who stay close by.We photographed each sunrise and many sunsets during our stay at the dock, which is a pleasant 3 minute walk. The birds were plentiful, varieties were unique to the area, and listening to their calls was peaceful and part of our vacation experience. The walk to Whitney beach was part of each morning, and is a quick 5 mins across the Gulf of Mexico Dr. We enjoyed an hour or 2 daily walking the beach. In spite of our rest and relaxation at the cottage, we enjoying daily trips around the area. Cortez fish market, Phillipina restaurant with the Mantees outside, a Tampa Rays game, Siesta Key art market, St. Armand Circle, Columbia Restaurant, Anna Maria Island, a Buegrass festival, dog races, flea markets, Ellerton, outlets, fishing, and I'm sure I forgot a few places, like the Ringling Museum and Dali museum!!! Yes we enjoyed ourselves immensely and came home each night to the perfect place to get ready to face the next day. Thank you so much Christine and Rusty, and we hope to return. Until we meet again.....
The Cottage was charming, set in a lovely landscaped yard tucked into a quiet neighborhood, handsomely appointed and fully equipped. The owners, Rusty and Christine, were very accommodating and helpful in directing me around the area. The beach is nice and quiet, and I enjoyed the short walk to the two restaurants at the dock. Other restaurants, Harry's, and especially Euphemia Haye, were fine dining. The close by Arts Center is a nice visit. I only wish I could have stayed longer. I have already recommended this property to friends and my family, and I am looking forward to staying at the Cottage again in the spring.
My husband and I stayed here for almost a week for a family wedding on nearby Anna Maria Island. Just as most other reviewers have said, the owners are especially friendly and helpful, the home is clean and exactly as shown in pictures, and the location is perfect if you want to stay on the more relaxed side of Longboat yet be near restaurants and beaches. We loved our mornings outside on the patio surrounded by tropical Florida plants. as well as our neighborhood walk to see the peacocks. It's an easy walk to Moore's Stone Crab Restaurant which we enjoyed. Even when traffic is everywhere, it won't take you five minutes to drive to either the Longboat beaches or Coquina on Anna Maria. It was just a great place for a getaway.
The owner has extensive local experience and will share information with fishermen, paddlers, bikers, photographers and birding enthusiasts.
