This property is a duplex. Lower/upper unit have 3 bedroom, 2 bath floorplan. Sleeps 7 in each unit; 14 total. Rent one or both units together.

Walk to shopping, dining and family fun from this great location on Ruby Avenue, one of the islands widest and most desirable streets. Relax on Ruby beach, just 1-1/2 blocks away, or take the nearby Balboa Island Ferry to world famous Newport Penninsula, beaches and the Balboa Fun Zone. Fishing charters, boat rentals, whale watching trips, a Catalina Island ferry and more are all within walking distance.

Lower unit offers one bedroom with a California King bed, second bedroom has two x-long twin beds and a third bedroom has 2 extra long twin beds.

BBQ on the patio or balcony and enjoy the sunsets from our west-facing views

We love Balboa Island! We have lived and vacationed in the Newport Beach area for 35 years. It is like living in a fantasyland; surrounded by water on all sides, with the ocean at your front door for swimming, surfing, sailing, fishing and more; within walking distance of restaurants and shopping. Be sure to try a frozen banana (dipped in chocolate) or a Balboa Bar (ice cream dipped in chocolate) on one of your walks to Marine Ave.. Balboa Island is a magical place!

What makes this house unique

Ruby Beach is 1 block from the house where you can cool off in the water or warm up in the sun. We are also about 6 blocks from the ferry boat that takes you to the beaches on the Newport penninsula including one of the best surfing spots in Southern California, the wedge. You will also find the fun zone here with more shopping, restaurants and an arcade for the kids. Bike riding, fishing and day trips to Catalina are some more favorite activities.

Good Vacation Home

Spent a month at this property in August. Centrally located on the island. Very easy to get to ferry or shopping by foot or bike. The house comes with access to 3 kayaks which was nice. Owner Kim was extremely accommodative and easy to deal with.

We enjoyed our stay - location was great. The electrical system needs work. If I used two stove burners and the oven the electricity went off. Very annoying. Otherwise, it was great

Owner's Response: Thanks for your input Pam. I'm glad it was an easy fix with the electrical breaker...sometimes during a heatwave, the problem is with the electrical grid not the individual houses.

Love Love Love these houses!!

I don't think we will ever rent another house! We rented the upstairs & downstairs! It accommodated our family so perfectly! There was so much room in the bedrooms, kitchen & living room! It was wonderful having all of the dressers available so we weren't living out of our suitcases for the week! The patio downstairs & side patio were perfect! Loved having the garage as well! Already booking next year & we practically just left! Perfect central location to anywhere we wanted to go! And right down from the swim beach! Which is where we spend most of our time. Looking forward to next year!

Perfect Family Duplex

We rented the upstairs and downstairs units for a family reunion over the 4th of July. The duplex is centrally located and you can easily walk to North Bay or South Bay beaches. The beach straight down from the duplex on North Bay is very kid friendly. Only a couple of blocks and you are at the Balboa Ferry to head over to the peninsula and ocean waves. The duplexes were clean, well equipped and in great shape. We had a family barbecue over the 4th and the front patio was perfect for eating and visiting. Beds were comfy. We love the island and we all agreed we would definitely rent again!

Great get-away!!

I rented the upstairs unit for myself, my 14 yr old daughter and 2 of her friends. The house was perfect. The girls had fun with the bunk beds and since there are three in one of the rooms, they could all sleep in the same room. The kitchen was well equipped...more than any other vacation rental I've had. The balcony is pretty small and I did not use the charcoal grill. No room for outdoor dinning, but plenty of room inside. I would rent again!!

Home review

The house is in a great location. Nice size. We had a great to time. But need to fix drains, dressers would not open easily. Some were broken. Paint peeling over upstairs bathroom window. Construction workers started at 7:30 everyday, so it was very noisy. A heads up would have been nice. The neighbor blew their yard while we had lunch and would not wait until we were done so dirt was everywhere.

Owner's Response: Thank you for letting us know about the drains and the dressers. We will certainly address those issues. As far as the construction noise is concerned, I believe you are referring to our neighbors 3 houses down. The houses on Balboa Island are very close together and noise is sometimes a problem. I have already spoken to the next door neighbor regarding his gardener and he apologized for the inconvenience. In spite of these issues, we are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you will consider a return visit.
