Villa with Private Garden, Panoramic Views and Large Private Pool for the Casale
About Mary Warner
Mary and I restored the Barn at Casina and then added to the site with a large Cantina which has a full laundry and access to the garden. This is our 2nd home in Villa Arceno buying first in 1996 after falling in love with the area and the people of this part of Tuscany.
Mary Warner purchased this Farmhouse in 2000
Why Mary Warner chose Castelnuovo Berardenga
Living and working in Italy in the 1990's gave us the opportunity to discover and enjoy the people and life style of this fantastic area. Coming to Tuscany and Chianti on holiday was so special that we were owners here in Villa d'Arceno within weeks of our first visit to this wonderful part of the world.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
Casina delle Rose is located in the unique estate of Villa d'Arceno a historic Tenuta covering a approximately 2,500 acres (1,000 hectares) of forest, vineyards and olive groves along with traditional Tuscan farmhouses and one of the most beautiful cypress avenues in Italy. This area is rich in the history of Italy and central to discovering the beauty of Tuscany and the major cities of Siena and Florence.

Fabulous villa in excellent location with outstanding views
This villa is wonderful. Well appointed with a fully equipped kitchen. From the terrace, the views across Siena to the hills are a daily pleasure. Communication from the owners and the local person, Barbara, was first class. It's the best villa I have stayed in. I thoroughly recommend this well appointed villa to anyone wanting peace and quiet, excellent views, and a fully functioning kitchen to prepare proper meals.
Wonderful week in beautiful Tuscany
We had such a wonderful stay here which we have just, and with great sadness, returned from.
The house is situated in a magnificent and beautiful estate, is wonderfully private and enjoys stunning views of the Tuscan landscape over to Siena.
We were a family of two adults and three small children, and the house suited us very well indeed. The two en-suites were finished to an excellent standard, a numerous supply of fans were on hand to deal with the July heat, and the bedrooms were both large and well furnished.
The ground floor offers an excellent kitchen, well stocked with all of the equipment you could need, and comfortable lounge. All of the shutters on the windows, all of the doors, were of an excellent quality well suited to this house - and it was spotless on our arrival.
To sit out on the patio and enjoy the views was sensational. We were provided with a very generous 'welcome back' (thank you!) and kindly our hosts had also supplied a paddling pool for our little ones. The communal pool, a short, beautiful walk from the house, we usually had to ourselves and was spotlessly clean and incredibly.
I do not want to be home! Thank you for our kind hosts, the owners and house manager. All admin and organisation before, liaison during, and kindness following our visit have been impeccable.
Many thanks indeed.
Seamus & family
Seamus and family, thank you so much for your enthusiastic review. You were delightful guests and would be welcomed back anytime. Ciao, Mary and Tom
You won't find a better place to stay
What a spectacular stay in every way.
My husband and I have been coming to the Chianti area for over 5 years now, and this is by far the most professionally-run, well-equipped and beautiful place we have stayed in to date.
First, Tom and Mary are lovely, personable and generous hosts who took the time to orient us to the house and the area by phone and through multiple emails. We felt welcomed before we even arrived.
Upon arrival, we had a meticulously thought through and generous welcome basket. Many a nights we have arrived to our countryside homes after all the shops have closed, and have had to scour up some fruit or roadside pasta for dinner. Not here. Barbara, the property manager, had delivered everything we needed for a great first meal, and breakfast the next day. Not only that, but she had also arranged a crib for our bab(ies), a high chair, formula, diapers, wipes, baby monitor, gates, even the most wonderful baby sitter. Way above and beyond what anyone would expect, she was spectacular! And a lovely person to sit and have a cup of coffee or glass of wine with.
The house itself is situated in the spectacular vineyards of Arceno. Coming home up the cypress-lined roads every day made us immeasurably happy. The house is modern and rustic all at once, a rare combination in Tuscany. It's perfectly maintained, clean, with cleaning ladies who come once a week to freshen sheets, towels and give the place a quick mop up. With two babies, we were very grateful for this service. The kitchen is wonderful, large and modern, with all the appliances you could need and supplied with delicious olive oil from Mary and Tom's grove. It was a pleasure cooking there every night. Taking our dinner out to the terrace, with a glass of Chianti Classico, and the sunset: just perfection. The terrace and the views from any part of the house were breathtaking.
The pool is quiet, large and meticulously maintained.
You won't find a better place to stay in Tuscany, or nicer hosts than Mary & Tom. Thank you so much for giving us a wonderful first holiday with our twins!
Dear Sherine and Pietr, thank you so much for your glowing review. We love sharing our little piece of Italian heaven with our guests. We hope to welcome you back in the future. Mary and Tom
Paradise in Tuscany
Superb setting, peace and quiet, spectacular view, perfect organization and super friendly housekeeper. The villa is a place where you would like to stay forever! Our advice: come, see and stay.
It couldn’t have been nicer
This is a wonderful property. The house is charming. We particularly enjoyed all the natural lighting from the many doors and windows. We were also pleasantly surprised by the location. The immediate garden of olive trees is delightful and we loved walking the roads of the Tenuta di Villa d'Arceno, the cypress allees to the winery, as well as the two miles to the little village of San Gusme. As others have said, the house is beautifully maintained and provided with everything you could need including a local cell phone for making dinner reservations or calling the house manager with questions; the kitchen is a pleasure to work in; and watching the sunsets from the patio was a treat we looked forward to every evening. Besides the outstanding accommodations, the owners were very responsive and helpful throughout the rental process, as was the house manager regarding our arrival, our stay and our departure. The owners have also provided a wonderful list of local attractions and recommended restaurants that we used as our travel guide for most of our outings. The whole experience simply couldn’t have been nicer.
Spectacular...in every way!
This was a flawless vacation, for the most part down to the Casina! What beautiful views! What a friendly and helpful welcome by Barbara! What an amazing location - minutes to excellent wineries and enotecas in Castelnuovo and 25 minutes to the gorgeous medieval city of Siena! I have been to Tuscany half a dozen times in my life and there is no better place to stay...I promise!
The house was very clean and had a beautiful kitchen - a wonder for the culinarily-inclined! Comfortable beds, bookshelves full of reading material (from mystery novels to serious histories), bikes to explore the surrounding vineyards and villages, board games for a quiet night, a pool for the sunny months, a basket full of maps and guides of the region, and the most spectacular patio that you have ever seen, with an ivy-covered wall spilling out to a view of the golden hills of Tuscany.
This place felt like home...if home was in the most beautiful place on earth! We will be back!
Dear Fynn, Your review made me "homesick". I wanted to fly back to La Casina immediately. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and hope that you will return soon. Ciao, Mary and Tom
The closest major town is Castelnuovo Berardenga with the medieval village of San Gusme on the edge of Villa Arceno. Casina delle Rose is surrounded by the vineyards and olive groves of the Tenuta d'Arceno Winery and is part of a secluded 2,500 acre estate.
