We had a wonderful time at your beach house and left you a note (not sure if you got it or not) at the house...
We will definitely return to your lovely home – it was perfect for our family (the spiral staircase was a little tricky though)!
We loved our shoreside getaway; beachcombing, otter watching, and clamming.
My daughter, who shuts every window at home, insisted upon keeping her window open to hear the surf and to smell the sea air.
The kitchen is amply supplied with everything needed to prepare meals, and we grilled just about every night, prompted by increased appeties from proximity to the ocean.
We highly recommend this place to discerning CA vacationers.
My husband and I shared a wonderful weekend with two other couples at this cute beach house. While it is an older property, it's well maintained with a charming and rustic feel. Access to the beach is down a long wooden stairway (not suitable for disabled or elderly) but the beach is incredible. We walked miles in both directions and, aside from a few fishermen, had the sand to ourselves. It's truly a photographer's dream. We took a day trip to Natural Bridges State Park in search of monarch butterflies but unfortunately missed the end of the migration season by a few weeks (runs mid-October to early February). But the park itself, with its famous natural bridge rock formation and abundant sea life, is well worth the drive. Whether you just hang around the house, enjoying the hot tub and gorgeous views, or explore other attractions and beaches in the area, this is the perfect location. We will be back!
We just spent 5 days at Dolphin Cottage at sunset state beach. The views are amazing, and the neighborhood is cute centrally located between Monterey California , and Santa Cruz. The house was well stocked, and very clean, and a great hot tub to boot! The house is old and needs some repair, none of the doors stay open without door stops due to the slant of the home. The listing on HomeAway said to bring firewood (booked September 2016) so we did hopping for some great cool evening weather and a nice fire, however the fireplace is a store bought electric insert, and there is no fireplace outdoors which the picture showed I do not have a fireplace at my home and this was a big want on our list so we lost about $35 on all the wood we brought. The walls need some paint and the couches are actually uncomfortable sofa doubles??? (Day beds) The spiral staircase to the bottom floor is horrible, it seemed charming at first but a hassle any other time, you can not go down with any luggage or anything in your hand, you must use the outside gate and go through the bottom floor master. The upstairs shower door is broken and swings if you try and slide it, and the over all decor is very old outdated and feels like an old cabin. The stairs down to the beach are easy, and the beach is absolutely amazing I never encountered more than a few people it's a great beach and very clean. The views are great from the house and the sounds from the waves captivating. The owners need to invest some money and time into fixing it up more it was not cheap ($1800) for 5 days. Some of the reviews I read speak of 5 and up to 8 people there? This would be terrible we were just two and it was fine 4 would be pushing it. Great location amazing beach, the house itself is very small and needs some serious attention (paint, new couches, updated tubs and showers) if you are looking for rustic this is your place, again the views are what you are paying for! In closing your going for the views and beach the house is old, small and needs some work ( PS don't bring any firewood)

Great trip for our little family. The best ocean view house I've ever stayed at. Simple cute home and had everything we needed. Best beach to take long walks on and we even took our stroller one night when the tide was lower.
My family, along with some friends, had the chance to spend 3 nights at this property and it was amazing. Great views, so close to the beach. Plenty of room for 3 adults and 6 kids and a very happy Golden Retriever. The beach is huge and you feel like you have it all to yourself. We all loved the hot tub. The neighborhood is quiet and safe and the handful of neighbors I came across were all very friendly. It was a very easy drive up to Capitola where we spent a fun beach day and found a fantastic ice cream shop. Tons of sea shells to 'collect' and we saw several dolphins off shore. I would highly recommend this stay.
We spend one night in this beautiful property that has direct beach access and is tucked away in a private residential area behind a ranger-patrolled state beach.
While the beach is accessible to the public, people not from the area rarely do. They use the public access from the state beach, making this an amazingly secluded experience. I slept with the windows open, enjoying the waves and woke up to a huge migration of whales that you could see dancing all over the Monterrey Bay.
We are city people and really needed time off just like this – cooked at the house, went running on the beach and played board games at night. The deck is stunning with sweeping views of the whole bay and this is where I spent most of my day reading while the rest of the group discovered an apparently amazing fish restaurant in Moss Landing which I missed out on being lazy. Oh well!
We'll be back for sure. What a happy place!
