Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Detached Unit, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 7)
My husband John and myself operated Annie's Bed and Breakfast in Springville for 17 years prior to moving up the hill to Ponderosa. We both love the quiet mountains and have moved our Custom saddle shop 'Boz Saddlery' up here. Guests are welcome to watch John 'Boz' create a beautiful custom handmade saddle and also Equestrian gear. I help John in the saddle shop also. We have riding clinics and lessons available for quests with their own horses. Come up and relax and share our beautiful piece of paradise. The picture is us in costume for our artist neighbor for one of his shows. We were creatures in the snow.

Why Owner chose Springville
I grew up with a cabin in Camp Nelson (12 miles down from Ponderosa) and loved this area. We looked all over the north west states and found this property in our own backyard. We are 4 hours from the beach, LA and 6 hours from SF. Great spot and lots or nothing to do, you can make the choice.
What makes this Cabin unique
We have the most beautiful redwoods 10 miles from us, fishing a couple of miles, hiking, birdwatching. If you don't have a horse of your own, there is Quaking Aspen pack station that will take you for day rides or you can pack back into the back country. Trails, trails and miles or more trails for hiking, mountain biking and in the wintertime a great place for snowmobiling, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Our area has a lot to offer and it isn't crowded.

3 days in Sequoia's
This is such a cool property. My dogs were in heaven. Great hiking/running/motorcycle trails nearby. Ann & Boz were great to have around as well, I enjoyed their company.
Thank you for your nice review. We are looking forward to your return and to seeing Rex and Estelle again. What great dogs. You were a terrific guest. Annie and Boz
I am going to write a totally honest review with both the positives and negatives because that's what I find helpful when reading reviews.
We stayed for a long weekend in January with our four kids (aged 2, 4, 5, and 8) and two dogs. One of our kids has special needs.
First of all, it is a fantastic and amazing property. We visited in winter and had the BEST time playing in the snow in our own private meadow. We sledded, went snowshoeing, and generally romped around. We cooked and ate and played games in the cabin. We colored and watched family movies on the laptop (not online, we came prepared with them downloaded). The cabin is small but that was no problem. The kids slept on the pull out couch and on the hide-away bed and all piled in together. The beds were very comfortable! The cabin was warm and pretty much just awesome. Families - do beware dangers of wood stove and hot stove. This was a small worry with our toddler and special needs kiddo but turned out to be no problem. The hosts were helpful and went to a real effort to blow the snow away so we could get our car out after it snowed. One of our kids forgot her special bunny, "Bunbun" and our host popped it in the mail for us immediately. That was very thoughtful and much appreciated. Crisis averted!
Now, on the negative sides. We ended up paying a lot in additional fees effectively doubling the cost off the trip from two nights for $500 to two nights for almost $1,000. Some of these fees are unavoidable such as service fees for VRBO. Some were pet fees which, in fact, I thought were on the low end. However, we paid quite a bit extra for the baby even though he just slept in bed with us and the listing specifically indicates 7 people max (to be fair, the host did email me indicating that the true max was 5). Also, the cleaning fee was on the high end. Not unreasonably so but for that cost (which is nearly as much as we pay to have our 3,000 foot home cleaned) the cleanliness should have been impeccable. My suggestions for the hosts would be to replace all bedding with white, which, while I understand is harder to keep clean has become the industry standard for home stays. Also I suggest to declutter the kitchen which will make maintaining cleanliness of interior drawers and cabinets easier.
Overall, I would highly recommend this rental to a family or a couple who enjoys the outdoors. We would love to come back and stay again!
Pictures Don't Do it Justice; Owners epitomize hospitality
Just got back from a 4 day trip into the greater Sequoia National Park/Forest and stayed in Ponderosa at this fantastic getaway. It's tucked in the deep corner of Ponderosa but it's worth the winding drive to get there. Annie and John have a slice of California gold that is enviable on every level imaginable. The views from the guest house takes you into a wooded seclusion that peaceful (when the kids are sleeping) and spacious (for when the kids want to play). The wifi is spotty and limited but it was a great way to force ourselves to be "disconnected." Annie and John are fantastic hosts and were very accommodating when the plans changed from a short vacation for my wife and myself to one that included the kids. They provided 2 dozen eggs from their chickens and even spent an hour escorting us to a neighbor's home to allow the kids to feed a miniature horse. My wife was talking about making reservations for the holidays the day before we left...
Thank you for a great review. It is so nice to see a family enjoy the outdoors together and love our place as much as we do. We look forward to your next visit and maybe there will be a snowman to build. Thank you, Annie and John
A perfect retreat
We loved staying in the very comfortable cabin on the edge of this beautiful meadow. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, the birds, and the flowers. Thank you, Ann and John, for your generous hospitality, and for sharing this very special place. We look forward to returning again soon!
Thank you for staying with us and we enjoyed having you here as guests. It is so fun for us when our guests appreciate what we have here and take advantage of it and enjoy nature. We look forward to your next visit. Thank you again.
It was more beautiful, welcoming and peaceful than we had imagined. My girls definitely needed some Dramamine to get there. But once we were at the cabin, the activities, hiking, playing in the meadow and a nearby creak were super close. It was absolutely lovely to be unplugged for a few days and spend time together. The hosts were kind and friendly. The cabin is simple but not too rustic and just what we needed. We were sorry to leave and we're eager to return.
It was wonderful having you share our place. So glad you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to your next visit. We love our picture that L. painted and thank you S. for helping with our picture of our saddle.
Amazing beauty and peaceful!
The cabin and meadow were exactly what we needed. A quiet peaceful get away! The bed was so comfy and the gourmet kitchen was a dream! We cooked all our meals and ate by the bonfire at night. We hiked and bikes somewhere different every day- so much to do! Thank you Anne and John for sharing your piece of paradise!
Thank you for staying with us and we are glad we could share our little slice of paradise with you 2. Happy that it is what you expected.
