We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this property! We loved being on the quieter end of the island and being literally steps from the beach. We walked to several places--library, shops, ice cream shop, restaurants--and felt like we were centrally located without being in the noise and crowds. The beach was beautiful and the balcony was a great place to see the sunrise.
The photos in the property listing are very accurate but don't really show that the property is laid out in a rectangular shape with the back balcony facing the beach. The "door" to the condo is an elevator that works with a key and locks for your floor. Each unit has a storage closet that locks on the ground floor. Parking is underneath the condo at street level and each unit is allotted two spaces.
The condo was very nicely decorated but could use some minor cosmetic repairs. Replacing blinds and touching up paint would make the place look a little nicer. The sofas could stand a good cleaning as well. Also, we did not have adequate kitchen supplies for cooking (not a good variety of pots and pans, utensils, etc.). Not everyone cooks while on vacation so this may not be an issue for others. We did laundry every day to keep towels clean--there just weren't enough for what we needed. The tile floors were not pristine but were as clean as possible given that we were on the beach and sand was constantly tracked in.
If you rent this property, plan to bring in or buy some basic supplies to make your stay smoother, such as: toilet paper, paper towels, dish towels, dishwasher detergent, dish soap, laundry detergent, extra towels or beach towels, trash bags(large and small), your own soap and toiletries, beach chairs and umbrella. None of these are provided.
Tybee is a beautiful island with a slower pace. There was plenty for us to do but it was never busy or crowded. There are no mini-golf or go-cart places and no movie theater. We enjoyed touring the Tybee lighthouse and climbing to the top, a dolphin cruise with Captain Mike and a day trip into Savannah (about a 20 minute drive from Tybee). We had great food at The CrabShack, MacElwees, The Breakfast Club and The Sugar Shack. Tsu's department store was a fun place to visit. The south end of the island has most of the night life and commercial area--we visited but did not spend a lot of time there.
This was one of the best vacations we have taken and we definitely would rent this property again. Tybee is awesome!
