Edgemere is a fully appointed, completely renovated West Coast home on a secluded beach. The house is close to the Nanaimo ferries and a short float plane ride from Vancouver. The house is centrally located for your Vancouver Island adventure - Victoria and Nanaimo to the south, Mount Washington (skiing), Courtney, Comox, Campbell River and many smaller islands to the north. Enjoy a short cross island drive to Cathedral Grove (a fabulous old-growth forest), Uclulet (fishing, whale watching) and Tofino (Pacific Rim National Park, surfing and whale watching). The kids will enjoy mini-golf, fossil hunting and sandcastle building just 10 minutes away in Parksville/Qualicum Beach, and chasing the bunnies at Rathrevor Park.
From the beach or large west-facing windows, watch the cruise ships sail up the Georgia Strait, enjoy the antics of the seals, and marvel at the majesty of eagles. Explore the tidal pools and pick shells on the pebble beach. On sunny afternoons, the beach rocks warm the water and the swimming is perfect. Charter a fishing boat and catch a salmon for dinner. Relax with a glass of BC wine and watch the sun set on the beach. Golf at nearby Fairwinds golf course or hike the many paths around the course and pick blackberries in season. Enjoy fine dining at the marina and golf course.
Architect-designed, the house flows naturally down the cliff towards the water and provides excellent views of the Georgia Strait and islands from the living rooms and the deck. The layout provides private sleeping areas away from the dining areas, main and lower living areas. The two larger bedrooms, one with two double beds and one with a king size bed, have double doors opening on to the deck. The third bedroom, with a queen-size bed, has an en-suite bathroom. The open-concept kitchen and main floors are perfect for cooking and entertaining. Enjoy a barbeque or catch some sun on the adjoining sunny 800-square foot deck. The “eagle’s nest” in the front window is a perfect vantage point for watching storms, wild life, reading or just napping.

I'm a Toronto professional who has enjoyed the tranquility, mild weather and outdoor activities of the West Coast for more than 20 years. My sons enjoy fishing, whale watching and golf. I enjoy exploring the smaller islands, hiking, trying local wines, and relaxing by the water's edge.
Louise purchased this house in 2004
Friends in the area, the laid-back lifestlye and the micro-climate of Nanoose Bay (we can grow figs and fuchsia!), which is drier than other areas of British Columbia, drew me to Nanoose Bay.
For those who prefer to relax indoors, you will feel as if you on the deck of a ship overlooking the sea. You are steps to a quiet, secluded beach and close to many amenities.
Beautiful home on a beautiful beach in a beautiful area. Will definitely return.
Our family loved the stay at this exceptionally funky beachfront house. Huge rooms, comfortable beds, lots of bright natural light, quiet neighbourhood, and breathtaking views. We swam in the evenings when the sun was setting, the beach was warm and the tide was in, and watched sailboats, kayakers and explored the rocks when the tide was out. My son's favourite spot was the nook in the living room, which he decided was his fort. Definitely 5 stars.
We loved staying at the Beachfront House. It was pretty much as advertised. Gorgeous view from the living room of the bay, we kept an eye open for the seals as they fished for their dinner. The stair case to be beach was easy to go down but maybe a problem for anyone with mobility issues. The beach itself is made up of loose stones and pebbles so again, anyone with mobility issues may have problems.
The house itself was very spacious with a wide open kitchen. The rooms are widely spaced so privacy is no issue. We were there during the winter and can only imagine how nice the house would be in the summer. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook simple meals and there were plenty of dishes and there was no lack of towels or sheets.
About the only negative we could come up with is it is s bit of a drive on the Island highway to any restaurants. There is small supermarket about 10 minutes away by car but anything else is about a 30 minute drive.
Overall we had a great stay and would recommend this place to everyone.
Edgemere was a lovely appointed home for a family retreat. Many activities nearby for all ages to enjoy. A vacation where we all enjoyed preparing delicious local seafood and homegrown vegetables prepared on the grill while dining on the wonderful deck enjoying the calming waters, wildlife, nature, and fantastic sunsets. All enjoyed the fully appointed home and privacy for all! Thank you, Louise, a special time enjoyed by our family!
We had a wonderful family vacation At your home! The Ocean was right at our feet and the view from indoors was breathtaking, Louise your home was absolutely wonderful! We look forward to booking again!!!
We stayed for a week at the end of June 2015. The house is very much as advertised, with large rooms and a great kitchen. The view is amazing, and the nights were dark and quiet for lovely sleeps. There was lots to do in nearby Parksville and Qualicum Beach with 2 very active boys, 9 and 10, but they also enjoyed the beach on the property and the little crows nest nook in the great room for quiet reading and alone time.
With everyone wanting a shower most days, it was a bit challenging with only one shower in the house. The huge soaker tub in the other full bathroom was lovely but basically unused.
We cooked a lot of our meals on the property and found that Thrifty's in Parksville was a great place to shop. In fact we found everything we needed in Parksville or Qualicum Beach without ever having to go to Nanaimo. Great places for dinner were also found in Parksville and our birthday boy loved the Paradise mini golf and bumper boats on his special day. Everyone got thoroughly soaked! We would definitely recommend this property as long as there are no mobility issues and you can handle lots of stairs, especially down to the house with your luggage and groceries from the steep driveway and then again the approx. 50 stairs down to the beach. We had a wonderful stay!
