Spacious Private Cabin on 80 Tranquil Wooded Acres Pet Friendly, Fishing, Trails
About Lynn Brown
Hi I'm Lynn. A passionate lover of nature and animals and owner of a sweet german shepherd named Zeus, 2 adopted Gordon Shepherd puppies along with my 6 horses. I love where I live and enjoy sharing it with others, so I manage an 80 acre equestrian center, nature preserve and vacation rental which is home to many wildlife species…myself included ;) I have been a professional instructor of Natural Horsemanship for over 23 years and an avid equestrian. I currently teach private riding clinics and offer lessons. Recently I was also an instructor for a variety of natural horsemanship courses at Isothermal Community College here in Polk County where I enjoyed sharing techniques that were passed onto me. I have attended the International Study Center for Parelli Horsemanship in both Florida and Colorado and have been trained by several of the masters... Buck Brannaman, Lynn Palm, Chris Cox, Clinton Anderson, Pat Parelli and Dan James. Prior to opening TRANSITIONS I worked for several Fortune 100 companies in sales and management for 30 years in the medical/surgical industry as well as IT. I am Parelli Certified Level 4, a Certified Level 2 EAGALA Equine Specialist, a member of EFMHA (Equine Facilitated Mental Health Association) and have worked with my horses as an Equine Specialist for the department of juvenile justice, mental health community and prominent residential addiction treatment facilities in and around Polk and Rutherford counties. About 9 years ago I created a unique learning center here called Transitions Empowerment Center (TRANSITIONS), located on 80 beautiful and tranquil rolling acres in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Where I offer three main programs: Natural Horsemanship (for instructor directed riding and horsemanship skills), Equine Guided Learning (for personal and professional growth) and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy for a local 12-step addiction recovery facility.

Why Lynn Brown chose Rutherfordton
Prior to moving to North Carolina I lived in Illinois, Colorado and most recently Florida. I love the four seasons of the midwest and the lush green foliage but was looking for more moderate temperatures. I fell in love with Colorado and the mountains and missed them while in Florida but not the huge amounts of snow. After spending over two years traveling to North Carolina to find my Dream Home, I discovered this property. I enjoy sharing the peacefulness of the country, the beauty that nature provides everyday here and the abundance of wildlife that makes up this preserve. I chose to move here 12 years ago and live onsite. Sharing with others the beauty and tranquillity of the views, habitats, wildlife and woodlands as well as my horses has become my way of life here. To preserve and protect all that is here is my legacy while I strive for a green sustainable environment.

Great Long Holiday Weekend
The property and environment were great and really enjoyed our stay. Trail ride was spectacular and really enjoyed Lynn's approach and guidance. Definitely an excellent choice and destination.
Incredible location and property. I thorough enjoyed my stay.
As frequent travelers, this is probably the most organized vacation property we have ever rented. Lynn’s attention to detail and communication left us wanting for nothing! Add that to an immaculate cabin with all the essentials to get your stay started, a gorgeous wooded property with even a securely fenced area for your fur babies out back when you need to keep them contained. We truly hated to leave, I think our pups have been permanently spoiled! ❤️
Peaceful, cozy, and comfy!
We stayed in Lynn's wonderful cabin for 3 nights for my husband's birthday. In addition to it being pet friendly (our pets are our family), it was very clean and very well-outfitted. The bed was firm and comfortable, with super soft sheets. The couch was large and comfy, and the property warm and inviting. Lots of attention to detail, and we saw lots of deer and enjoyed walking the farm with our dogs. We also liked the privacy and the fact that we were the only cabin on the 80 acres. The only thing to mention is that there's no dishwasher, which I didn't notice in the description. It didn't really bother me, but thought I'd mention it in case it matters to some! Lynn was a gracious host and had wine and pie waiting for the birthday boy! A wonderful, relaxing and stress-free weekend! Thanks, Lynn!
Gorgeous property with secluded cabin
The views of and from this property were amazing. We all loved being able to walk the property and spending time with the horses. The cabin was tucked away in the woods which was so cozy and secluded. Lynn was a wonderful host.
Unplug and relax
Very relaxing. Peaceful and quite. Our cell phones had no service and we didn't miss it. The trials were easy and we even surprised a couple of deer on one walk. The cabin is very comfortable and everything we needed was available. Even some bad weather didn't dampen our stay and visiting the horses was a wonderful experience.
