Overview

About the property

Condo, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 5)

A quiet retreat in the middle of town!

Why stay in some remote hotel in the Hotel Zone, the marina, or Nuevo Vallarta, when you can have a spacious, fully equipped condo overlooking the ocean at the Malecon in the heart of Old Downtown?

During the day, it's close enough to feel like you're part of the action while still remaining anonymous on your private oceanside balcony, watching sunbathers, para-sailors, and street vendors. And at night you're walking distance to Puerto Vallarta's clubs and nightlife, if that's your speed. Or take a quiet stroll after a romantic dinner on the beach and then fall asleep to the sound of the ocean.

It really is the best of all possible worlds.

By far our favorite unit in Vista del Sol

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed at Vista del Sol for each of the last 13 years, and this was our first time in this unit . . . and we have a new favorite as we loved everything about the unit.

The breeze was the perfect temperature and steady allowing us to spend days enjoying the incredible view from the balcony . . . why go out when everything you need is in the unit. Then other days, we'd head north along the Malecon (right outside the door) where there's plenty of shopping and dining. Then other days, we'd head south along the Malecon into Zona Romantica where there's more shopping & dining. Our stay was two weeks of bliss and we never had to stray far and a car was completely unnecessary as everything is right there . . . in the unit and nearby.

This unit stands out as the both bathrooms have been thoroughly remodeled. The TV in the living is a large flat screen with more DVDs than you can imagine to offer entertainment if the beach directly below is not enough for you. The kitchen appliances are modern and the cooking supplies are more than adequate.

We've already booked our stay for next year. This unit is a winner!

Perfect week at the perfect place!

  • 5 of 5

We actually stayed the week before Christmas, but the review system wouldn't let me put in a date later than today. Our group included myself, my two daughters in their 20s, and a family friend in her 20s. We spent a week here 2 years ago, and if anything, enjoyed it even more this time as we knew a bit more about what to see and do in the area. The condo staff are more than helpful, and can suggest things to do. They also can call a cab and will tell you in advance what everything will cost. We took a cab to Bucerias (45 minutes away) and it cost $17 one way. Everything you possibly need is in the condo (beach chairs and umbrella, blender, coffeemaker, toaster oven, water dispenser, full kitchen) but you also can pick up anything close by: there are 2 Oxxo convenience stores steps away, several liquor stores, and unlimited restaurants. There's also an ATM 3 blocks away that dispenses pesos: which is the total way to go to get the best prices but also to connect with more interesting opportunities. We found a fantastic fruit market about 5-6 blocks away with incredible fruits at such low prices: I bought 12 pounds of different citrus and other fruits for the equivalent of $3.50! We also found some of the best places to eat just off the beach: Taco Revolution and Panchos Takos. There'a also a wonderful mole place. There was a vendor a couple blocks away with the best raspberries and blackberries we have ever had. Also don't miss the Saturday morning market just south of the building in the park: they have beautiful art and incredible local coffee beans that you will want to bring back. The condo is also 3 blocks away from the best swimming beach in town, which is just by the pier. We went swimming nearly every day, and the girls loved lounging on the beach and at the pool. Our favorite day was getting a private boat off the pier for a full day out on the water. We went snorkeling, to several small beaches you can't reach by car, and then to Yelapa. The boat captain took us around town to the waterfall, out on the paths into the jungle where he pointed out wild chickens and two iguanas who were fighting up in a tree, and to a great beach restaurant. On the out, we pulled up right next to giant sea tortoises and on the way back we chased a group of 3 humpback whales! He had deep sea fishing gear too, if that's your thing. There was constant live music you could watch just off the deck of the condo, and the Malecon is always full of entertainment every evening

Great condo, great location

  • 5 of 5

This review is long overdue. I hesitated reviewing this place in case it gets too popular. I kind of want to keep it a secret. But like most good things, deep down you want to share it and talk it up.

We stayed here this past October. We have stayed at Vista Del Sol for the last 4 vacations. The last three we rented this condo and have our next vacation booked. We originally chose VDS for the location. We love being right in the heart of things. It is on the beach, it’s close to restaurants, shops, and nightlife.

Besides being in a great location the condo has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The condo is very clean, has a fully functional kitchen, two bedrooms each with their own bathrooms, large living room with plenty of seating, smart tv, lots of movies, books and free wifi.

The balcony overlooks the southern half of the Malecon. I can spend a good part of the day out there people watching and staring out at the ocean. We’ve stayed here in June a couple of times and the tropical rain storms are spectacular.

The pool is up on the roof and provides plenty of loungers in the sun or shade. It is a quiet relaxing area to spend your afternoon. I just wish that from the loungers I could see the ocean. The 4 foot wall blocks your view. It’s a small thing….

The owners are great to work with. Magdalena responds promptly by email. Payments are secure. We have never had a problem. She spells out everything you would need to know before you arrive.

Beautiful condo in the very best location

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for a week the first of September 2016. I'll start off by saying when we arrived we were greeted by 2 very attentive front desk personnel. They seemed happy to have us and walked us to our room. The condo itself is beautiful and updated. It still has maintained it's Mexican design but has been updated with all the modern conveniences. The living room is spacious and opens and looks out to the Malecon and the Pacific Ocean. Being on the 3rd floor gives you enough distance for privacy but allows you viewing pleasure of people walking and listening to the sounds of the street and ocean. The master bedroom offered the same view and also had a sliding door to the large terrace. Once closed, the room is very quite. The second bedroom and bath were also very nice. The top floor is home to a beautiful roof top pool with a 360 degree view of the city, mountains and the beach. It's really a stunning view and offers nice chairs and a large shade area. Security was perfect all around, we never felt the least bit uncomfortable. Actually that goes for the entire city. The people were absolutely amazing. Overall we would rate our stay a 5 out of 5. The owners were gracious and generous. We will definitely be back!

We can't wait to go back! Best spot in PV

  • 5 of 5

I highly recommend this condo. My husband and I took our teenage daughters and we had a amazing time. Clean, spacious and beautiful view from the balcony! The rooftop pool was such a nice surprise. Well maintained and spectacular view of the city and beach. Everything is within walking distance as described. It was our first time in PV and we will definitely be back and stay in this condo!

A good deal

  • 4 of 5

From my memory of reading over the property description and the other reviews, everything was accurate.

Compliments (the Good):

1. The owner responded to questions very quickly and was honest and forthcoming with answers. I felt comfortable with all transactions.

2. The condo is in very good condition. I was especially impressed with the quality of the kitchen and the quality/effectiveness of the air conditioners.

3. The bed (at least the one in the master bedroom) had a very good mattress for a vacation rental. It was softer and more comfortable than most.

4. The location is about as good as you're going to find in the "Old Town". It's on the beach, on the Malecon, and very close to pretty much everything in that neighborhood. If you're looking to stay in this part of Puerto Vallarta, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better location.

5. The building staff was very good and courteous. The cleaning staff is top notch.

6. The rooftop swimming pool is very nice. It's not one of the new and popular "infinity pools", but if you stand up you can easily see the ocean and a very nice 10th floor view of the entire area.

Suggestions (the Bad):

1. My biggest complaint was the thin curtain in the master bedroom. It was utterly impossible to sleep-in past dawn, first of all, but..perhaps even worse...there is a lot of light that comes through at night due to the street lamps on the Malecon. Frankly, I was a little upset that anyone would just assume that everyone in the world is a "morning person" and be able to deal with such bright light at night and in the mornings. I believe that all hotels and vacation rentals should have thick (preferably "black out") curtains available...just as most good hotels already do. For those that prefer more light, it's easy to move them aside.

2. While I know that the owners can't control when construction happens, I do expect for hotel and vacation rental owners to inform me about upcoming construction so that I can make an informed decision on whether I want to stay or not. The building is almost entirely concrete, so there was jackhammer drilling non-stop all day, Monday-Saturday ..from multiple locations in the building.

3. The condo stank of old wood when we arrived (especially the second bedroom). It was pretty unbearable until we got some air fresheners from MEGA (although having the building/cleaning staff turn on the A/C before we arrived would have helped... It was VERY stuffy.)

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for all your positive comments, and we do welcome the negative ones as well. Let me respond to those in turn. 1. The windows of the second bedroom do face East, and I’ve watched the sunrise there many times. Next time I’m in PV, I will look into a blackout solution, though. 2. Unfortunately, other owners are not required to notify us of the exact dates of the noisy work in their condos, so I was not aware of construction going on around you. I do wish you had let me know about the noise during your stay. As you said yourself, I’m very fast to respond to e-mails. I would have tried to help you find another condo in the building, further away from the noise. 3. The smell you’re referring to is a result of very humid and salty ocean air in a closed condo, an unfortunate side effect of having a beachfront location. All it takes to clear it is opening all the windows and doors for a few minutes upon your arrival. The breeze is so strong that any stale air is removed almost instantly. Typically the maids air out a condo before guests’ arrival, but our regular maid was on vacation during your stay, and her substitute may not have been told of your arrival time.
