The Marbella Condo is made up of three towers with 12 floors each, conveniently located just 10 minutes from Las Americas International Airport and 45 minutes from the vibrant city of Santo Domingo, where you can enjoy the exciting nightlife and return the same night to your apartment and sleep peacefully, lulled by the sound of waves and the sea breeze.

Just Amazing

  • 5 of 5

We arrived Just for New Years Eve, and it was just wonderful to see, fireworks and all the activities. We totally loved the beach and the pools. We found it easy to go grocery shopping by taxi, only 10 minute drive. There are so many restaurants out front the condo and can go for a long walk and find more. Many places to go on walks as well. The condo itself is so well equipped with bedding, towels and kitchen stuff. Everything was also in well working order. It is a very nice condo, with a very nice view.

Melvin, the owner was so great to deal with, that it really made our stay so wonderful. We hope again to return as it is one of our favorite places we have visited. Thank you so much .

We spend last holiday weekend in this apartment, it has nice decoration as shown in the pictures.

We found everything we need it, as towels, cookware, wifi, tv with cable service, central air condition system etc. The place was very clean too.

It has beautiful beach front view, pools, restaurant , gym ect

We received a very special customer service from the owner and his assistant.

Marbella is a very good place to stay and you will find very nice restaurants near in Juan Dolio Beach area to go out for a lunch or dinner.

I recommend this Apartment in Marbella Juan Dolio Beach , Dominican Republic to spend a special vacation or weekend.

Convenient Location, Beautiful Apt

  • 5 of 5

Juan Dolio might not be the most beautiful beach in all of DR, but it is very convenient to the capital and to SDQ and was therefore the perfect location for us for a very quick stay. Melvin's apartment is beautifully decorated and exactly as the pictures portray it and the Marbella complex was very nice. Marie, his assistant, was very prompt in her communications and helpful in answering any and all questions we had. She made the entire stay very convenient for us. If you're looking in Juan Dolio, you cannot go wrong with this rental.

Wouldn't Have Wanted to be Anywhere Else

  • 5 of 5

We took a chance on booking this property. At the time there weren't many reviews. From beginning to end, we have nothing but terrific things to say both about the property & the owner, Melvin & his assistant, Marie. The pictures speak for themselves, the property is gorgeous, decorated with local art tastefully displayed everywhere. The apartment is so open it almost reminds me of a lanai in Hawaii. You feel one with nature. Four of us were there for 12 days and didn't want to leave. If you book be sure & visit the Jumbo Grocery in the adjoining town. The prices are similar to what are available here in the US, but the fruits & vegetables are much more fresh. We enjoyed fresh pineapple, banana pina coladas made using the apartment blender every day.

Evening comes and the views out the apartment balcony are gorgeous. Soft palm trees are silhouetted against the ocean, the beautiful pool in the forefront. This complex has two twin pools & one of the pools is right in front of your unit. Soft breezes flow through the apartment all day long this time of the year & we didn't feel the need to turn on the air conditioning, not even once. It is there if needed though which is comforting.

In case you don't want to cook, there are several restaurants right across & down the street. We had a car & used parking provided at the unit & drove everywhere. And yes, the driving is crazy. There is so much to do I can't begin to list what is available.

One day we toured Santo Domingo & met up with Melvin & Marie for coffee. My sister said it best about Melvin, "What a charmer". We snorkeled, went diving and hiked in Bayshibe. Went to Carnival in Punta Cana, went whale watching on the Samana Bay, went to a national park south of the Samana Bay & of course took time to just relax at Marbella.

This is an owner owned property which means during the 12 days we were there, during the week, there was hardly anyone there except staff. We felt we had our own private place to enjoy. No jostling for chairs here. Just a peaceful, beautiful environment to enjoy. The weekends had a few more people, but again just a handful.

I can't say enough about this place & the Dominican people in general. Unlike many places in the Caribbean, we noticed no one who had a attitude, other than to be helpful & pleasant. You won't be disappointed if you choose to stay here.

We liked them so much we have invited them to come & stay with us, anytime. They feel like family.

Amazing Weekend!

  • 5 of 5

Had an amazing weekend, the apt was fantastic and spacious (we were four), had plenty of towels, wifi worked great and the view was breathtaking. We had issues sending the payment to Dominican Republic however the communication with Melvin was superb he was awesome and made things super easy for us. So our trip was actually stress free!. In regards to places to eat we had a restaurant downstairs and prices were good and the food was excellent. I know there are several restaurants nearby but my trip was short and was not able to check them out. My parents did like the italian place nearby. There was some water issues as we only had water at certain times however this did not affect us as the water timing made sense and this is not a permanent problem. Overall we had a fantastic weekend and I plan to come back and stay at this apt. Would definitively recommend it to family and friends.

Owner's Response: Dear Andrea,   Thank you for your kind review. I am extremely pleased that my guests have a pleasant stay. I am also pleased to inform you that the circumstantial issue of water, due to changes in the neighborhood, was completely resolved. I hope that when you return with your family can also enjoy spa services, massage, gym, private chefs and everything Marbella have to offer you.   Sincerely,     Melvin

Car: not necessary

Juan Dolio and its neighbor beach town Guayacanes are for those who seek a couples or family restful vacation but like being able to take many excursions. If you are staying in Juan Dolio, you are equidistant from the culture, shopping and dining and nightlife of Santo Domingo, great beaches, scuba diving and other attractions in La Romana, and just half an hour away from busy and crowded Boca Chica. The small towns of Guayacanes and Juan Dolio are following the shoreline.

Juan Dolio has a boulevard and a main street where most hotels and restaurants are located. So you can walk, jog or cycle in safety here. This destination is perfect for those looking for a quiet escape with the comforts of home.

What else is nearby?

Almost anywhere you could possibly want to go is accessible from the coastal highway which cuts through the town of Juan Dolio and follows the shoreline. Villas Del Mar is an area of Juan Dolio where many restaurants and all-inclusive hotels are located. Going west from Juan Dolio you’ll find the fishing village/beach town of Guayacanes, then the pretty cove-like beach of Playa Caribe, followed by Boca Chica about 20 minutes from Juan Dolio. Santo Domingo is less than a 40 minute drive to the west of Juan Dolio.

About 15 minutes further east is the baseball city of San Pedro de Macoris, home town of Sammy Sosa. Shopping is good in San Pedro at the Jumbo store. Another 40 minutes beyond that is the La Romana/Bayahibe area, two interesting touristic destination.

Getting around

Everybody walks in Juan Dolio. The beach road is quiet and has very little traffic.

Those seeking action can head for the area's casinos, discos, 18-hole golf course or participate in the water sports programs offered by the many large all-inclusive complexes.

The Cueva de las Maravillas should be included in every visit. Down under, browse at the very good collection of pre-Columbian art amidst spectacular stenography created with lighting against stalagmites and stalactites.

Guided tours are an excellent way to experience this region, since there are relatively few attractions within walking or busing distance. Some of the excursions available are: Jeep Safaris, Santo Domingo City Tour and Half Day Tour, Santo Domingo Night Tour, Altos De Chavon artists village/River boat ride, Cueva Fun (and its seven-kilometer long underground river), Los Haitises and the mangroves park, Saona and Catalina Island.

A reputation for excellent cuisine has taken hold in Juan Dolio and Guayacanes. Sophisticated palates can choose from a variety of fine restaurants ranging from informal to casually elegant, even a few with noteworthy wine cellars. Italian restaurants and steak and seafood abound here. Since most restaurants cater to domestic vacationers coming in from Santo Domingo, prices in Juan Dolio are attractive all year round.

Some recommended restaurants are:

El Meson (Spanish cuisine and seafood)

El Sueño (awarded international cuisine and seafood)

Paladart (ideal for breakfast)

El concón (excellent Dominican cuisine and seafood)

Cococane Beach (French cuisine)

Madera Wood Café (bar restaurant with life music during weekend)

Entertainment outside

There is nightlife primarily at the hotels but this is not what you would call a “party hearty” destination. Take time out to visit the many restaurants in the area and mingle with the crowd that lives there or commutes in from Santo Domingo, especially on weekends.
