My husband was a sea-captain for many years, traveling through Asia, Europe, South America, the Middle East and Africa. He loved cities, culture and travel. New York was always a favorite of his and we wanted our own place in the city to call home.
Darlyn purchased this townhome in 1998
Because Harlem and Hamilton Heights has so much history.
Broadway, Opera, Theater, Dance, Ballet and an easy subway ride to The Botanical Gardens. The worldclass art museums and restaurants are easy to access. Experience the incredible energy and people of this fabulous City.
A Harlem Brownstone with 2 fireplaces and 11 foot ceilings.
Close to everything we needed. Just 2 blocks from the children's apartment. Worked very well for us.
Just spent an extended weekend in NY. My wife and I loved the brownstone and our time spent there. Everything was convenient, grocery on the corner, subway about 3 blocks away and plenty of restaurants in walking distance. The only issue was with the cable TV, but we didn't come to NY to watch cable, so no worries. This apartment gave us a feeling of being pseudo-New Yorkers for a weekend!
Our firsf visit to New York City and this little apartment made it feel like home. Nice quiet place to come back to after the hustle and bustle of downtown all day. Two blocks away was the subway line that takes you everywhere you need to go. Used Uber cabs back to the airport and the car was there in 2 minutes to pick us up. Place was very clean and had great coffee in the cupboard :) The pull out beds weren't amazing but my Mom loved the queen bed in the bedroom. We ate at a couple of the small restaurants right down the street and all the food was amazing. So glad we tried it out. Would love to go back some day.
Lovely place to stay away from the busyness of Times Square. Easy travel via the subway #1 Red. Cool to get a taste of the New Yorkers daily life staying in a brownstone in Hamiton Heights. Great near by grocery store on 138th. City college is amazing and great restaurants close by. Thank you to Darlyn for looking after us!!!
We stayed at the New York City Brownstone in late July 2016. As a family of four with two tweenage daughters, it fit us perfectly. Such a great little apartment--made very comfortable by Darlyn! We were just a block or two from the Subway stop that took us EVERYWHERE we wanted to go! We drove into New York but didn't want to drive around the city. We were nervous about finding parking for our vehicle, but we were able to find parking right there on the street! The building is quiet, there were plenty of towels and supplies for us, and there was even a stash of brochures and guides that helped us plan visit! I am SO glad we went this route and even more glad we chose this fantastic New York City Brownstone! We will look here first if we're ever going to be in New York City again!!!!!!!
Wow, what a find! Darlyn has a wonderful property to offer! At first I was unsure about staying in Harlem, but it was a last minute trip and Darlyn responded to me first! Thank goodness she did! I found out that I love Harlem and I loved staying in a neighborhood rather than in Times Square as I've done in the past!
The place itself is very spacious, the bedroom is lovely with high ceilings and a dreamy bed. The pull out twin beds are very comfortable as well. I am PICKY, people. The kitchen was beautiful and well appointed, everything one would need!
Linens were Turkish cotton and smelled fresh and clean, which is actually rare. Bathroom is small, but the water pressure is great and I used the floor to ceiling mirror in the bedroom to get ready, so that didn't matter to me.
There's a fan, extra comforters, a rolling cart for groceries, air conditioning that works fantastically. Door dead bolts which I liked.
The neighborhood is wonderful with coffee shops, delis, restaurants, grocery stores, you're right by the 1 subway line which takes you everywhere from the village to battery park to Columbia. People are friendly and I never felt unsafe with my children. It's a family feel in the building as well.
I imagine coming again in the fall with the crisp weather and being so cozy at this special place. I fell in love :)
Don't hesitate to visit this place. Such a gem!
